  1. On my latest vist to London, July 2017, it became apparent that the plan to cut costs and congestion etc. involved bikes. Now what about lots more bikes and bike powered rickshaws. On a serious note, I rather think there is a conundrum in wanting cheap fares in luxurious vehicles. Surely it coukd be cheaper to use cut down simple transports.
  2. Does anybody know who took over from DCR? I've been searching the all knowing net and can't find a name,
  3. Sorry to correct you K-59 but there are paper mills in Florida and California. Let's not forget Canada, they do a lot of this to. A food factory is also a good idea as you point out. Check out "Mike switches Batory foods in Chicago" on you tube. This is begging to be made into a layout☺
  4. Might I suggest a paper manufacturing plant? These are found in various parts of the USA and take a good variety of different cars. Gonna watch this, I have a good feeling
  5. The Duke of Wellington opposed passenger railways because it would encoutage the poor to travel. For travel you could possibly say "escape"! Just some thoughts , when discussing public transport. Cities are very different from towns and rural areas. My own commuting involved times and places where there there was no public transport, e.g. 5 am into the countryside. I am also tired of hearing train travellers whinge about the cost of train travel. Nobody ever subsidised my travel to work, in fact I was taxed for the privalage. Vehicle tax, fuel tax and VAT. If you want to travel pay for it. one last thing whenever congestion is mentioned nobody seems to talk about the growing population, more people simply means less room. Oh yes free roads, what free roads? The only people getting free roads are cyclists and any poor who has to use them because scumbag has parked on the kerb ! The powers that be have banned this in the London Free State, sod the rest of us
  6. Ah, a solar flare wiping out magnetic data. So that is obviously what happened to all of the imformation about the pyramids! Aliens indeed, pah!
  7. After all this surely it is clear that anything involving government involvement ends up stuffed. Just ask anybody in the NHS, all of the good people in there deserve better.
  8. This really is a delightful layout. I think the black and white photo is incredibly atmospheric.
  9. Maybe better policing of the roads would help. If people knew they could lose the privilege and convenience of driving they might just start to Think! As for level crossings, maybe all trains should be built like the clsss 20 that was modified for a Bond film?
  10. Wonderful modelling on this journal, well done☺
  11. Hello, can anybody explain why it is that so many people stall their cars on railroad tracks? I just don't get it!
  12. Good grief, this makes me despare , just think about this. Only the people at the top get big pay rises, the media always works on the idea of turning people against each other, stop believing what they say! If you use trains to get to work, the drivers are the most important people for your transport. Try doing your journey without them. This is a short term situation, as soon as they can be replaced with automation they will be unemployed. Then you can look forward to paying them benefits. Oh, and the next time a manager turns up late passengers won't notice!
  13. Just wondering how much trouble one could get in for installing an electric fence along the front of the layout? Very realistic
  14. I have a horrible vision of all of the streets set up like a dodgem car ride.
  15. Given all of the talk about global warming and rising sea levels, might elevated railways be a better long term project?
  16. hello Marcohow is the O&K hopper progressing. Excelent topic you have here, thank you. Paul
  17. hello, looking at this picture, would it help the flow of track if you used a left hand point instead of a right hand. Just a thought, great layout this is mon!
  18. This is a wonderful topic. Incredibly inspiring. Are there any new updates?
  19. Hello I've only just found this topic and it is excellent. I will definitely be following this. Good work chap
  20. Hmmm! 35seconds eh? Even if the car stalled you could still get out of the car and run, probably. Oh, the baby in the back, are there's the rub. Not only did she not show any sense of self preservation but didn't show any thought for the baby! 35 seconds eh?
  21. Goodness gracious but this is fantastic!
