  1. If I had to guess at anyone lowering the tone by bringing the Karma Sutra in to it... P
  2. "Polymorph" Comes in dry small pellet form. Becomes totally mouldable with a constituency similar to warm blue tac at 70 degrees C and is reusable. Uses include to enlarge cutlery handles for those that have poor grip. I've just used it to make a die to push out Ultrascale Class 24 wheel centres. Even able to machine it once it has returned to its solid state. Cheap as chips on ebay. P
  3. Very Bill Brandt. http://www.beetlesandhuxley.com/gallery/all-stock/halifax-1937.html P
  4. That's usually age related. P (I forgot to send the pics of lamps but will try to send them after todays chores. If I remember..). EDIT: Should be with you now. So much easier than doing chores.
  5. That looks very much like the late Mr Woolstenholmes hand writing? Plenty here. https://flic.kr/p/69WcCF P
  6. Sorry to be contentious boys. Looks to me like that hopper was photographed in the same location. Same location but different sides. The same piles of white "stuff under each axle, same brake lever applied to the same inclination and the "not to go" label. I can't say whether any of the grain hoppers came out in blue but am minded of the Esso class A tanks that were originally painted silver and were instructed to have there tanks panted Dove Grey at first overhaul/repaint to match the grey tanks of new Class A tanks then being built. Even taking into account the colour cast caused by clear blue sky in the colour phots I have; and have seen, some of those early Esso repaints had a Duck Egg Blue (to use an old Humbrol description) hue to the tanks. Maybe it was the same with the Grain hoppers? Dudley Docker with his paint company and wagon building/repair companies has a lot to answer for. No wonder Docker Juniors wife used to gold plate and paint her Daimlers Ivory. (and then use Zebra hides as a seat covering.) P
  7. Do I? I can't remember. I'll have you know I used to have an adopted Aylesbury. We called it Orange. Funnily enough, just about now, I should have been taking a seat in the Indian eatery opposite the Duck Pond at Duck End in Aylesbury. Unfortunately events conspired against me. Maybe a good job? I may have ordered duck. Funny old world. P
  8. But you have been immortalised in a computer format file on some hard disk maybe to appear and delight future generations. Just think what improvements advances in technology can bring. Head "A" being place on body "B" etc. I think that it may be the only way I could ever reduce my waistline and treble chin. I'm sure I've spotted a 4mm Dave Geen? P
  9. Ahem. Two posts above. That wasp getting to you? P
  10. I like Monty's figures. Some figures (not Monty's) coming to the market lately to my eyes have a troll like stature. Having had a good look at the ever increasing range of modelu3d figures at Scalefour North and more recently at last weekends EM North I know were my money will be going in future. I find it quite amusing that I could have a miniature TBG in the cab of one of my locos. Their range can be found at: http://www.modelu3d.co.uk Usual disclaimer. P
  11. "Family commitments preclude attendance". Actually it's Axleboxes family. I don't think they be very happy as he goes under the surgeons knife today. That's me saved a bit more dosh then. I'll try and put up some more pics tomorrow. Suffering with lawnmower fatigue at the moment. P
  12. Sort of like this: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/17155-greyscroft-mine-cleveland-ironstone-in-1955-em-gauge/page-19&do=findComment&comment=2010286 Access was a bit limited and my lack of flexibility prevented me from doing any crawling about but I'll post some up later. Got to go out and supervise the lawn mower at the moment. P
  13. Donned my special forces clothing & equipment and went on a clandestine off grid mission. Then got stuck on top of the presflo. You'll be swopping Mikes achievable excellence wheel sets for proper scale ones then. Unless Mike makes his wheel sets multi gauge. At least the buffers will be the right distance apart. P
  14. Hmmmmmm, I murmur whilst scratching my chin and gazing skywards. Moving the connector to the cab may be difficult. (At least on mine it would be) There's not enough length on the Blue, Yellow and Green wires that connect to the front lamp LEDs. Also the motor supply wires look like they'll need to be lengthened. Looking at the wiring it doesn't l k to big of a job to swop the front and rear lamp wiring at their respective PCBs but the motor wiring looks like it'll still be short. A Zimo 20x11x4mm looks like it'll just fit without any modification. P
  15. Dave, I've just posted this elsewhere but thought I'd better put a copy up here after Saturdays bollocking. No measurements I'm afraid. P
  16. Justin, Any idea how long before the hopper chassis instructions are posted? I'm bound to screw up without guidance... Edit: I see the instruction are now up. Thanks. Ta, P Oh, and some pics as discussed. They may keep Mike happy too. Note the weld lines on the body side, Mike. Justin might just introduce a kit exactly as you get yours finished. Justin, there's also some phots of the brakes linkages of a Butterley built APCM Presflo if they're any use?
  17. Looks like I'll have to continue upsetting the local reverend then.
  18. Plenty of trainspotters shall be carted off to the gibbet forthwith for placing the queens coinage atop of the bullhead. Off with their heads. I wonder what has more fiscal value. A 2p coin or its equivalent weight of liquid lead? P
  19. Ooh. Don't now about that. It used to be a regular sight in the N.E. to see a "Big" loco or a shunter out on the mainline tripping a single or a couple of coal wagons between the goods yard and coal cells. Even the smaller collieries could dispatch just a single coal wagon dependant on traffic conditions. Here's an example at Pelaw. http://www.phantasrail.co.uk/Sid/crop1034s.JPG What??? You've never heard of the "Q7 in a Q7"? Have a read through this thread. All will be explained. Smashing historic venue for a Model Railway show. The pic was taken last weekend. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/97233-darlington-exhibition-remember-us/&do=findComment&comment=1822287 P
  20. I'd have thought that coming from your side of the border you'd have known the answer to that question and been prepared to take any currency that holds value. As has happened many times in the past all currency will be handed over to the gaffer. (Fiona) P
  21. Those LMS lamps look spot on. With a couple of modifications just the job for brake van side lamps. Oh Bu**er it. That means there's no excuse for me not to finish this brake van. See ya Sunday with a pocket full of shekels. (If you haven't sold out) Thinks: "Or do I hold on for the inevitable two lens brake van lamp?". p
  22. I gave up correcting the NRM/SS Picture Library, despite continued requests from them update incorrect information. The captions on the website were just never corrected. No doubt the no staff/no budget/no time reasoning applies. Seems like inter department co-ordination isn't to good neither. See: http://www.nrm.org.uk/ourcollection/photo?group=British%20Transport%20Commission&objid=1996-7038_BTF_7410 I wonder what future generations of historians will think of the current crop when (If?) they discover the deliberate mistakes we've left for them. The location is Parkstone Quay btw. The Martello Tower within the grounds of the old HMS Ganges can be clearly seen between two of the cranes. Oops there goes me dropping a gooley for future generation's. Maybe I should have said the location is Harwich International. Another corker is: http://www.nrm.org.uk/ourcollection/photo?group=York&objid=1997-7057_YOR_250&keywords=Milk+Tank Now that's the NRM having us believe that LNER existed circa 1900. P
