  1. Too easy for me so I'll give someone else ago. Looks like someone had been along and swept up all the sand that usually resides there. Maybe a Royal had just been through? P

Might help to start reading here. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/82160-Hornby-k1/page-15&do=findComment&comment=1708709 P
  3. Might help. http://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/models/humbrol.htm P
  4. Humbrol 104 Tony, "BR Standard Loco Green". Painted my first kit (An MTK Class 17) with it. Probably around Christmas 1972. Went on over the top of Dupli-Colour aerosol primer without a hint of a brush mark and a constant overall satin finish. Pity the Rub On W&H transfers didn't work as well as the paint. I've still got 3 tins remaining in my stash. Two never yet opened, the third, half used was still fluid when last checked but that was over two years ago. I do hope they are ok. The other paint I always found decent was the Floquil enamel range of BR colours. They seemed to brush just as well as Humbrol Authentic. I've still gort an original 3H coke hopper that was painted with Floquil BR freight Grey and Underframe Black. It stood on a shelf for years and the grey never seemed to fade or yellow. Hopefully now production is back in the UK Humbrol paint will become more consistent. Over the last 10 years or so I've found wide variations in shade of supposedly the same colour and even quite large variation between the tin top and the paint inside. When I started modelling I always used to paint a sample onto a sheet of plasticard which I keep for checking variations in shade and comparing different manufacturers shades of the same colour. I've found it quite useful over time. This one was started decades ago as you can probably tell by the yellowing of the plastic sheet despite it being stored in the dark. and an example of different shades. There's a list of the Authenticolour range here: http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_humbrolauthentic.htm I'm glad Humbrol still use the tins. The door frames of my parents house still bear the scars of attempts at removing the tops from the old Airfix paint glass bottles. Porcy
  5. You've led a sheltered life you little innocent. But then so have I. I only learnt that saying from my country cousins. P
  6. I would think weight of a bare etched chassis and a bare resin chassis would be comparable and just as easy if not easier to hide lead between the frames. For the home producer needing to batch produce three or four it could be Ideal. I hope the experiment is successful. Porcy
  7. Wellies & Lipstick... Wellies and Lippy... ...as the old saying goes.
  8. This one. http://www.aliexpress.com/item-img/2013-Car-wool-cushion-plush-cushion-winter-pink-seatpad-car-mats-women-s-cushion-genuine-leather/1217108568.html P Edit: Just dawned on me. The BR Presflo played a big part during the building of the original balls. BR set up a railhead for cement deliveries at Thornton Le Dale. Just to keep things on a railway topic.
  9. They certainly mutated golf balls and the new pyramid thingy used to play havoc with my ex's central locking and lectric windows. P
  10. Only on ITV, not on the BBC. and I couldn't afford the subtitle technician. P
  11. I suspect it could be that Mr. Galoon. You've probably seen these. © Copyright Ben Brooksbank and licensed for reuse under this Creative Commons Licence. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2380637 © Copyright Ben Brooksbank and licensed for reuse under this Creative Commons Licence. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2380502 Strange that somewhere amongst my photographs I have a pic of a push bike being passed up into the cab of an English Eclectic Type 3 in 1973. P Edit: Seems like Mr. G beat me to the draw...
  12. So did foreign "boats" ever walk down your high street and just where do you stand on wimmin?
  13. Appropriate time for a replay of Mr Frank's solar panel covered by a cap but what's that got to do with us? 3:34 and performing the finest ever television Tut-tut a few minutes earlier. https://youtu.be/ybT3s73lUhg?t=3m33s P
  14. Sort of like these. https://flic.kr/p/9tGbqM & https://flic.kr/p/9tJb9M P
  15. Duplication = Waste of time & Effort. Development = Improved looking model. Part of my stash of LMS stuff here, http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/3252-worsdell-forevers-workbench-loads-of-north-eastern-stuff/page-27&do=findComment&comment=1917510. My ABS and MJT stashes are considerably larger. I thought railway modellers throwaways ended up on Ebay to disappear into AN Other's stash at inflated prices. P
  16. I think I have something in my possession that just might be suitable for a Master . Hopefully see you at Manchester. If not, maybe October. P
  17. The MJT jobby is a bit more risky when drilling for a 2.5 mm shank sprung head and the representation of the bolt heads... well, have you ever seen a wedged shaped bolt head? Modelling slang... Modelling slang indeed... That's Porcy's patois for railway gubbins. The normally round plate (but rectangular in my phot above) that held the stuff that engaged in a slot to stop an oval buffer rotating. P
  18. Ex works BR Mk1 maroon horseboxes definitely had black ends from new. Well, at least E96307 did. The demarcation line between maroon and black can be clearly seen in this pic. It's an enlargement of a small part from one of the series of official works photo glass plates of E96307 that I have. Other plates in the series confirm that the headstock was originally the same colour as the end. Hth, Porcy
