My limited knowledge of LED is about to be revealed..... One of my Swiss locos, Bernina 602, has blown one of the forward LED in the number 2 end. In the standard lighting configuration of 3+1 this is one of the two that are on only in that forward direction. The remaining light, on a different circuit is always on whether as 3rd headlight in forward mode or tail light in reverse. I replaced it with a slightly (physically) larger one and it seems to have blown the other forward LED and shorted the lighting circuit. I don’t do things by halves! I removed both the new LED, which still works out of the loco, and the 'blown' one and the remainder of the lighting then returned to normal. Mercifully the ESU v4 chip is still fully functional. So, please, what governs two LED on the same circuit? Do they have to be equal to each other? And can they be different from the remaining, factory-fitted LED on a different circuit ?

Fascinating, as the NHS advice nearly always is !! I have never eaten red meat and not touched alcohol for years.......... Back to 'free' private hospital referral today to persuade them to give me further injections for my arthritic fingers...then I can start on my arthritic left knee, neck and so on ! Keep smiling; it annoys the hell out of grumpy folks !

Just returned from second trip to B&Q in Boston and the temperature is 23 deg all the way. Yes, SWMBO will remember Summer 1976 as she was pregnant with our Daughter - born in the October just after the Minister for Rain, sorry Drought, Denis Howell. had taken charge of the weather and the heavens opened for many, many days afterwards...

Morning all ! Onward with the repair of the garden table and chairs again today ! How does outside furniture remain intact for so many years and then suddenly split ? On the final leg now (no pun intended!), the replacement of several seat bars. Decking board, used upside down, looks like the ideal match when carefully sawn in half lengthwise, so off to B&Q this morning. As reported elsewhere, thundery downpours expected, although the torrential rain which hit Boston two days ago during the morning rush-hour* missed us completely ! Have a good day everyone and stay healthy *actually the rush-hour starts at 7 am and ends about 8 pm - like many other towns, I suspect !

Something my Darling Daughter learned today..... You still need to apply for vehicle tax even if you don’t need to pay vehicle tax. Otherwise apply for SORN if applicable. Happily it was a friendly reminder so she rang and used the online 'renewal' system !

Morning all ! Yesterday's viewing of the Tour du Suisse went through Canton Graubunden with some superb shots of the 'Graubunden State Railway', also known as the RhB. Most enjoyable ! I shall hopefully catch up on the US Open today....after the customary Friday steam-clean of the kitchen floor tiles. That is my usual contribution to house cleaning so I get off quite lightly. Warm again today with higher temperatures to follow for Sat, Sun and Mon...and then the customary thunderstorms to remind us that this is the UK, after all. Awful news regarding the missing victims of the Grenfell tower fire. Very, very sad.

Evening all ! Decision time again - do I continue to watch the US Open until 2 am or switch over to the Tour de Suisse which isn't available live ! Always no sport or too much on Sky or Eurosport. Of course the Tour de Suisse isn't live because something called the Tour de Sud is live. Reason ? Tour de Sud is in France !! Since Phil Mickelson, my favourite US golfer, had to withdraw as it clashed with his Daughter's Graduation, I shall switch to cycling. Goodnight all, sleep well. Yes, Mike, that is exactly it ! We have been advised of the effect on our 'children's' tax affairs when the Declaration of Trust comes into operation after the last of us dies, and also the implications on our Son's marriage should they break up. Our Daughter is 40, looks 25, and is a single lady without a partner and cannot see the need for one !! Thank you for your input. We shall of course discuss this with Daughter and Son before signing any such document.

All my research seems to suggest a legitimate outfit but I thought I might just ask.

Morning all ! Today's task was simply to find strawberries and (non-alcoholic) wine for tomorrow's visit by Sister and her new fella. Now I await a call back giving me a figure for the clutch replacement on Darling Daughter's car. Dealer quoted £660 so am hoping that our local garage (local as in 25 miles away) can come up with a smaller figure. They were going to ring before 9 am today but maybe they have gone into a huddle drawing straws to see who breaks the bad news.... Daughter is driving her friends to the Take That concert at Sheffield on 29th so matter is reasonably urgent ! Happy days ! Take care, y'all.

Greetings ! Busy day yesterday visiting our Council Tax in the Holy City. Apparently with his acceptance speech, the re-appointed County Council leader kept referring to the City and had to be reminded several times that he is actually responsible for the County as well. Today accompanied Miss RhB shopping and using the strimmer on that stretch of grass dandelions and other weeds which the County Council is no longer going to maintain. Open plan front gardens, of course, no fences etc., allowed. The screening process for Mrs RhB is now a proper lottery - an 'oh-be-joyful' leaflet received today informs her that she has been randomly selected, like tossing a coin, to receive this upper torso screening as as 'some older and some younger women are being invited as part of a study of screening in different age groups'. The words in italic are quoting from the actual booklet. It then goes on to say that you can still have screening every three years, although you will need to ask your local screening unit for an appointment. Sorry, rant nearly over .... Letter to my newspaper yesterday from someone around my age, pointing out that he has used the NHS very infrequently, has paid over 45 years of NI and wonders why any 'Social Care at Home' will cost him up to £700 a week. He finished by saying that he was considering equity release so as to rid himself of the assets........ Care Homes, by the way, in this cheap part of the country, cost £300-ish a week for standard care and £1000 a week for Alzheimer's patients. Or they did back in 2012 !! And they are all private companies. Sorry, happier days before then !!

How could I forget my early Birthday present which Yodel brought yesterday ?!! T'was a new golf trolley, one of those which travels under it's own steam - oh, don't you love these old railway expressions ! Anyway having passed my Biblical span last May, my loving Family decided I should receive some assistance on the walk around the course. In these flatter lands the course with the steep gradients, believe it or not, is Skegness Can't wait for the next outing, probably not 'til August, but by then the weather may have improved Have a good day - it can't rain for ever...then again..

Evening all ! Heavy rain has arrived a few hours early so quite a scary drive back from Skegness after a superb show from Rich Hall and musicians ! Apparently we had a month's rainfall in one day earlier this week - something like 30 mm! Aren't statistics wonderful ?! Those of you who saw the One Show last night - or was it Tuesday ? - will know that another party leader will be on the show on June 30th. Poor Alex, it's giving birth that does it !! Still it would be nice to see Miss 'Fish' on the show, say, about October..........oooooo.. Time for bed, said Zebedee.....

Talking of sheds, I have just successfully fitted an LED Pir security light - 33.3 thingys - to the end of the railway room/workshop so as to deter the shed burglars recently on our road. Naturally the difficult bit now follows - adjusting the brightness so that it only comes on at 'night'. Night is of course currently about 10 pm to 4 am ! Big skies and sometimes, bright skies ..... Our shed has the conventional garden tools in it plus a few things that, as always, won't go anywhere else These things are now barred from the aforementioned railway room. Good morning from a very wet county with a simple forecast - rain all day. Finally collecting tin of garden paint from Boston but not sure why Shed break-ins have reached our road so calling at Q&B to purchase another pir-fitted light for rear of garage railway room workshop And then there are some outstanding prescriptions - don't get me started Hey ho, onwards and upwards !!

Just returned from 98 mile round trip to dentist, 'free' NHS customer, of course, so only pay £20.60 Crossing barriers down for five minutes - no train but an orange-clad track worker was fiddling with the electronics. Weather here undecided, as stated above, rather muggy; still it is actually now tuggy and tomorrow will be weggy, etc..

Morning all ! Yes, sad about the NHS IT system but an accident in waiting. Our first MRI scanner at Pilgrim was paid for by charitable collections. It has since been replaced/upgraded by a similar charity known usually as the 'taxpayer' which, to many folks' surprise, these days includes us pensioners. Rain as forecast but garden furniture paint was not at the main depot in Sleaford when we passed through on Saturday (I was too quick on Ebay shopping!) but is being brought to Boston for me; superb service by Turnbulls with whom I shall probably shop in future. So possibly a day off but we shall see ! I did cut the back lawn yesterday so my 'brownie' points are well in credit; maybe I can add 'Aftercut' again in between the showers? Or will that simply stop the rain?! Oh, mischief..... Dentist tomorrow and Rich Hall on Thursday evening at Skeggy. Warm regards to you all.

I did not see this programme although I have MM's book on the blood sugar diet which has been very helpful in keeping the diabetes numbers down. Like one other contributor this morning, my sleep depends on not hearing the large motorbike that is SWMBO's nasal passages ! I usually move to the adjacent bedroom which, without the luxury of curtain linings, means that i awake with the dawn, so to speak !! Yes, SWMBO used to object when I snored but this was met by a sharp dig in the area of my kidneys; something tells me I am not about to use that method....

Wet as promised here on 'the drier side of Britain' (our tourist slogan) so off to some nice warm shops. Pension day tomorrow so liquidity briefly returns to my account; that's a laugh for an ex-banker - hope I've spelt that correctly..... Oh, I left banking back in 1989 with a very shaky nervous system..... An eclectic mix this week, Dentist in Gainsborough on Tuesday, Rich Hall at the Embassy, Skegness on Thursday, meeting up with Sister and her new man (she's been widowed twice) on Friday and MOT for Daughter's DS3 in Lincoln on Saturday ! Oh and the garden furniture renovate/paint if the sun ever turns up ! Enjoy your day !
