  1. No, the BBC is obviously very sensitive about the Goodies !
  2. Nah, that was the guy arriving at Mike and Tina's chip shop and, as they were about to put a piece of cod into the batter, he shouts 'don't fry for me, Mike and Tina'.... Sorry, sorry Pete, so sorry...get your own jokes, Bob..
  3. Evening all - thanks for your support as always. Tomorrow I take Daughter's DS3 to the Holy City for diagnostic testing - only £50 these days ! Today in Lincolnshire - an occasional thread, honest ! 1. Local paper reports the theft of five ballcocks from the layby toilets between Boston and Skegness.... 2. Driving home in DS3 tonight, I am (happily) the second car behind the vehicle showing very bright red lighting on the rear end; when he turns off it seems he has some kind of special circular red beams mounted on the rear bodywork.... 3. Mrs RhBBob driving the 308 home travels behind a car with headlights but no rear-lights at all... Take care and stay well
  4. Morning all ! Sorry, I've had time off for a heavy cold; the good news is that I've managed to pass it on....am I popular ? Err, no ! Today's task is to seek assistance for Daughter's car problem; a lovely red DS3 which blows the fuse on the screen wash motor every time you use it. Obviously she doesn't use it every day so she didn't know it was non-operational, so to speak ! The DS3 blog tried to suggest that cold weather causes the fuse to blow but I think it more likely the electrical circuit is being shorted out. Since I am dangerous with 12 Vdc, I sent a message via local - as in 36 miles away - Peugeot dealer's website, where she bought it, albeit from the previous owners ! We don't do straightforward in our family!! Have a warm day, please !
  5. Afternoon visit - rather chilly but bright sunshine is welcome ! Rain arrives tomorrow so restoration of retractable washing line - stretched by 'Doris' was a priority for today. Going as visitor to Lincoln Exhibition 2mrw at Newark Showground, just over the border in England, and courtesy of a good friend. He is supposed to be building an 0n30 layout so I shall push him towards 'Grizzly Junction', recently in Continental Modeller. On 3rd June we exhibit his '00' layout 'Drinkallby' at Sleaford Exhibition and somewhere in his shed is an 016.5 layout, with track laid on baseboards, allegedly !! He has various bigger scale items as well. Sorry, I can only work on one layout at a time albeit there is too much rolling stock...no further room for expansion ..and too little time
  6. Morning all ! A brief report as Mrs RhBBob is shopping today and needs her sustenance! I was a little prophetic yesterday when talking about the ECML overhead wires - this morning BBC report that a section has come down. Otherwise Doris has cleared off and wind speeds of 12 to 15 mph are arriving from the north-west. Temperature 3 to 7 deg C today. Burst water main in Skeggy on the A158 in, just in case you were thinking of visiting the beach today...... Basically brrrrrrrrrrrr Have a great day !
  7. Yes, Doris has left the 'drier side of Britain' (sound of laughter in the background) and amazingly we have escaped the power cuts affecting 400 homes. I say amazingly as our electricity arrives on overhead lines rather than being buried under the fenland. Like the East Coast mainline somewhat west of us, they are prone to blow down. On the way home from Daughter's house, we passed a group of four or five Western Power vehicles, presumably having a seance .....
  8. Doris continues to rage on towards the North Sea and as there are 4,000 homes without power in Lincolnshire, I searched the Western Power Distribution website looking for our Daughter's home since she is at work. This is the message:- This webpage is currently under maintenance. The power cut map will be unavailable during this time. Still, we shall be there, God willing, in about 40 minutes time subject to the many falling trees. The local news at 16.39 says that the Police Twitter site cannot keep up with those fallen tree reports !!
  9. Morning all ! Looks like the storm has got here early and is staying longer. I note we get a special mention on the BBC Weather so it must be bad if they've found us!! A day for stopping in but Darling Daughter has a shoulder massage in Boston after work so we shall decamp with tea to her place around 5 pm. Yesterday's tasks put on hold because of the high wind and not much else planned for today ! Keep warm and safe, please, particularly those who have to travel today.
  10. Morning all. Yes, I'm early up this morning and already on second mug of tea ! RAF Typhoons very active last night although I imagine nothing like the noise under the flight path at Heathrow. Rain should clear through soon and then I am back to washing line 'adjustments' to keep the inexpensive Asda unit in place on the garage wall !! After that the pole at the other end needs turning around to allow it to bend in the opposite direction....! Tomorrow promises to be truly awful but that's another day....isn't the English language marvellous for silly sayings ! Have a great day !
  11. The first part, 35 miles in 90 minutes sounds like a journey through South Lincolnshire; the return journey is most definitely not......
  12. Morning all ! Oh dear, David Cassidy has dementia, sadly a subject - or rather its big cousin Alzheimer's - our family has experienced twice. Yesterday, by coincidence, I was singing and playing ' I think I love you' as part of my music rehabilitation. And it had been a good day; I have sorted through my enormous stack of music, generally typed out on A4 with lyrics, and chords above, mostly in 'G' or 'D' which suits the chord shapes I can make at present! I could do with a little more 'bend' on the middle finger so I shall seek a another injection in a few months time on that finger and the little one which is a bit wayward but manages the second string on the beautiful thumping guitar start to 'Take It Easy' by The Eagles. That along with the hearing aids and you guys and gals has raised my spirits a great deal. Seeing the Doctor tomorrow but no doubt I shall be carrying on with the Anti-Ds, dehydration overnight and weird dreams !! Given the headlines on the NHS today, I think I am lucky to have the finger treatment available only 40 miles away.....or, just down the road as we say in these parts.... Have a great day, please !
  13. The winner plays Lincoln City in the next round......you have been warned !
  14. Or has she spent the last few years SKI-ing ?
  15. Morning all ! A warm night with the usual dry mouth and thumping head to wake up to ! Enjoyed a trip out yesterday to the model exhibition at Hubberts Bridge, Boston courtesy of Drinkallby Steve; four layouts, farm and fairground models, plus a 10 foot long model Zeppelin made to 1/72nd scale ! Today's promised bright sunshine and 14 degrees seems to have moderated to light or thick cloud and 13 degrees ! Oh the joys of weather forecasting !! Have a good day everyone !
  16. A lovely video of the whole layout, Paul. I note that Neal managed to get 'in shot' right at the end ! It was ever our experience, Steve and I, that most of our layouts performed badly until 12 noon on the first day, after which things usually went very well ! On a 2-day exhibition therefore, the enthusiasts arriving on the Sunday always saw it at its best........we never worked out why but it might have been simple acclimatisation to the venue! Very scary !
  17. Morning all ! Bright sunny day in Lincolnshire. Today a kind friend is travelling south some 24 miles to take me to a small general model exhibition at Hubberts Bridge, near Boston. Some chin-wagging with local folks will no doubt be very therapeutic and my friend also has occasional 'visits' from the black dog. Daughter arrives for tea at 6 pm tonight so best bib and tucker are needed as our usual daily dress code doesn't go down well and comment is immediately passed ! Have a great day !
  18. Sorry, off topic ! Burnley 0 Lincoln City ! Full time
  19. Stupidity is safe and well and living in Boston ! The Borough Council has issued the sticky identity labels for the garden waste bin collection but someone has run the software at least four times!
  20. Morning all ! A mild night outside although constant thirst inside due to little blue tablet! Just taken two Anadin Extra to ease the thumping headache and stepped on the scales to see how the weight loss is going, Happily diabetes review is some months away so the fluctuation of a couple of pounds in weight is not critical. Next really mild day we get, we shall have to open all the windows and drive the germs etc., on their way ! Sounds like a mad habit I know but...... Today I am chauffeur to Miss RhBBob as she goes to the hairdressers in the centre of the congested town of Boston; later we two visit the recently arrived Iceland Food Warehouse, next door to Home Bargains where the food for Daughter's large Ginger Cat will be purchased. Must get some practice on the Boston golf range before annual trip to North Shore, Skeggy with the younger Mr RhBBob and his various relatives, F-in-L, two B-in-L and one of F-in-L's Brothers; they breed well in Mansfield ! Must take thick coat this year since last year I gave up halfway through the first round thoroughly frozen! However on the Sunday I was able to complete the full 18 holes. Bracing ? Yes, Skeggy lives up to its nickname all year round thanks to the onshore wind, all the way from Siberia! Sorry better get on as this is turning into a blog........ Enjoy your weekend, everyone !
  21. So sorry to hear that news; he was a very talented musician, both on his own, with Richard Stilgo and with the Grimethorpe Colliery Band. His brand of music was largely from before the current era, shall we say; e.g. 'Love Is The Sweetest Thing'.
  22. Greetings to all ! A dull day, weather wise, but rain so far. Friday is steam cleaning of the kitchen floor tiles which I have completed, whilst Mrs RhBBob is buying up Asda and possibly ice cream(s) from Tesco as well! My next task is to book an MOT at our regular garage, some 25 miles* distant, for Daughter's DS3, preferably before 9th March and including a small amount of welding on a silencer bracket. Not due 'til 25th March but the Olly Murrs Concert arrives on 10th ! I shall be taking the car for the MOT, of course ! *just down the road in this area. Have a great day !!
  23. Hey ho, turned out to be a tree pruning day ! Got to use my new toy, an extendable pole maximum height 12 feet and with a fairly rigid curved blade which has a hook section at the top end. Trouble with Silver Birch is once you prune it, the result is many thinner branches generally growing upwards ! Now to the smaller mountain ash alongside the SB, and then the sycamore - brought by a bird - in the back garden. The pruner, a heavy duty tree pruning saw was bought off Amazon for £23.99. Bargain ! Sorted Daughter's dual fuel move with U-Switch, saving her £230 a year, fixed rate until June 2018. She knows about my pruning exploits this morning so I await a call from her with another job. Night all - sleep well.
  24. And then there are those who have neither licence, insurance or car tax. They receive the usual fine and costs. The rest of the punishment is a mystery.....
  25. Good morning ! Getting some decent sleep with the little blue tablet albeit visiting some strange places during the wee small hours. Another sunny day here but a stronger wind outside. Today's mission, accepted, is to sort a new supplier for Miss RhBBob's electric and gas. I figure a fixed contract for 18 months will be best since prices are unlikely to come down. Hoping that diesel fuel is around for some time since Lincolnshire agriculture uses it for farming and for all transport. Most railway lines were ripped up in the late 60s and 154 stations closed ! Happy day to all !
