  6. I have never been in the police, but having a dog painfully attach itself you your leg, however well intentioned the dog is in doing its 'duty', removal of dog by whatever means may well have been a priority to enable you continue doing yours.

  8. Blame Tolkien for this. Near the end of The Hobbit (the book) Bilbo comes home to find the Sackville-Bagginses in his house. That was an unexpected item in the Baggins area.

  18. CO detection used by people testing for GasSafe are a lot more sensitive than CO detectors mounted on the wall. Those alarm when there is a danger level. The GasSafe tests I would rather rely on because if there is a problem I want to know about it. Not everything said by BG is carp, but their prices are.
  19. He fits Valiant where he can. Glow-worm are part of the same group, they're the lower cost end. Vaillant are the better end. Quote from the site referenced below. "Vaillant UK are often found on lists of the best boiler manufacturers and are reviewed positively by homeowners as well as heating engineers. What often separates Vaillant boilers from their competitors is that they're fitted with a stainless steel heat exchanger. This is compared to other manufacturers commonly using aluminium, which doesn't offer as many benefits as stainless steel." https://www.boilerguide.co.uk/articles/vaillant-glow-worm-boiler-comparison-reviews Son fitted mine (a combo boiler) eighteen months ago an I've been using the new remote control system via my phone. It offers programmability. It does not have a tank, on demand hot water. His argument to his customers is, if they can afford it, that the fitting cost and engineering is the same as a cheaper model but the difference in price is taken up by the meter boiler, and as they're a ten year warranty the total cost of ownership is not a lot more then with a cheaper model. He's a bit disparaging of Worcester-Bosch because of things like plastic clips which tend to break when maintenance is required. on all boilers, warranty is only applicable if there is an annual service. He finds that he can severely undercut British Gas installing cheaper boilers by several thousand sometimes. I had a quote from BG for seven grand more than a decade ago which son does for four or five. Most of his friends in the trade are the same. BG are trading on their name. However their engineers are not up to scratch, largely. Here endeth the commercial.

  21. Boilers come with various length warranties. What looks the same on the outside, because of different innards, can have three, five or ten year warranties. Son will only fit those with ten years.
  22. Native docs use installed fonts outside the document, Write on am Mac in Helvetica and print at work where the system doesn't have Helvetica and you'll get Times Nee Roman on your printout. PDFs have fonts defined with the document. The printer has only one thing to think about when printing PDFs.
