  1. The double chimney could be destined for the LNER green version? Since following on from its trial with a double chimney it would have retained it into its 'in service' livery. Either way, the re-build streamlined version looks gorgeous and so glad I pre-ordered it when I did.
  2. Whatever it is, I think they'll be out to grab one of Bachmann's intended announcements next week. Could one dare to hope for a Caledonian '439' 0-4-4T or a LNER D49 'Shire'?
  3. 66775 HMS Argyll would get my order too if it were done in addition to 66779
  4. How difficult is it to rename one of these models? Can the boiler mounted nameplate be easily removed and replaced or does it involve much work?

    Tornado

As Hornby are doing the Aberdonian train pack in their 2020 range which includes their model of Tornado, I am intending to attempt to upgrade some of the details on the model. I was wondering for the lower moulded firebox side handrail, has anyone replaced this with a brass equivalent and if so what paint did they find a good colour match with the surrounding body work?
  6. They look brilliant! Can’t wait to see the decorated samples in due course
  7. I’m hoping for some Caledonian stock or an additional locomotive to sit alongside the Rail 812 Class. A 439 class would be ideal and No. 419 specifically would be perfect! An LNER D49 and K4 wouldn’t go a miss either!
  8. I’m looking to model a rugby pitch with players in OO. Does anyone have any experience of doing this including where to get suitable scale figures?
  9. I think whoever produces a model first of 55 Stepney as preserved in A1X form will get my money
  10. I used 1mm white Gill Sans lettering from Fox Transfers for the name and I found the numbers came off very cleanly using a cocktail stil and some light pressure.
  11. After taking delivery of Haig a few days ago, it didn’t take long until I set about renaming and numbering to 65243 Maude. Cannot wait for the NBR Maude now and more Scottish steam in the coming years!
  12. Is there still an opportunity to pre-order a Dynamometer Car or have I missed the chance?

    Oxford N7

What stands out with the BR version is that the smokebox numbers are printed on the door rather than on a ‘plate’
  14. I’m looking to add electric light fittings to my Hornby B1. Not lamps but the small dynamo driven lights that were fitted to the K1s, A1s and A2s (as per the highlighted fittings on the attached photo). Does anyone know of a readily available product or DIY method to replicate them?
  15. Not one minute ago, knock at the door and there’s the postman with my NCB No. 6 Barclay. Very happy!
  16. A Caledonian class 439 would be fantastic! Hopefully No. 419 would be produced in the first batch
  17. Hopefully something Caledonian (class 439 or 812) or LNER D49
  18. Well, with nothing grabbing me in Bachmann’s announcements, I can only hope that Hornby wows tomorrow with something J36 shaped in multiple liveries!
  19. Out of interest, where did this tender picture appear and does anyone have a link to it?
  20. Are there any new samples of the SECR Dark Lake coaches? Since there were comments about the colour and as far as I remember Bachmann were going to double check it?
  21. Let’s hope the SECR trio isn’t far behind!
  22. Kernow have posted an album of pictures on Facebook which contains images of three Birdcage coaches (one of each livery).
  23. Dave, When/if can we expect new livery announcements for the Austerities? I would love to see a NCB Fife Area No.19 and 1940s WD liveried examples like at Bo’ness. Jack
  24. I've noticed that the colour layout for the A3s are now on Hattons' website. Just a wee question though, should the buffer shanks on the 60103 Flying scotsman tender (H7-A3-007) not be red like the buffer beam?
  25. 66779 is part of Bachmann's main range this year and probably won't be in a glossy finish. The catalogue number is 32-983
