  1. A few of the 2016 models became available as the models came into stock (presumably from cancelled orders) so I managed to I think secure one when the model was shows as “last few” on the Hornby website. Got my fingers crossed it should be fulfilled.
  2. Hornby took payment today for my 1963 Pegler version, so the models have now started arriving and I’m sure will be on their way to retailers now too.
  3. Managed to get some photos of the model samples at Model Rail Scotland this weekend. Very impressive looking, and the boxes look nice too.
  4. The images are CAD renders so some aspects on the actual models won’t be as they appear in the images (such as the appearance of bright valve gear). One thing I did note though is that 5200 CAD render has a riveted tender where locos in the same build series had flush sided tenders. So I’ve already emailed Hornby to seek clarity on this. For example, 5197 (same builder and same batch) here in ex-works condition has a flush sided tender: https://railway-photography.smugmug.com/LMSSteam/Stanier-Locomotives/Stanier-Black-5/LMS-era/Stanier-Black-5s-in-the-LMS-era/i-D6gG34M Edit 04/01/23: I’ve had a reply confirming 5200 will have a smooth sided tender, not the riveted one as shown in the CAD image
  5. I started with one of the Precision Labels L30 GWR reporting bracket/numbers sets before adding a cardboard backing for the foliage. I then glued small amounts of Woodland Scenics clump and fine leaf foliage to the cardboard for the base layer before adding Woodland Scenics purple flower foliage (minus the netting it’s attached to) and filled in any gaps with a scatter/glue mix
  6. Well I was very happy to receive my model on Monday, and I couldn’t resist adding some personal touches as soon as it arrived. SR route discs from Roxey, flags and GWR reporting numbers from Precision Labels and a wreath of my own making. Hoping too that someone produces etched plates before too long.
  7. A nice wee 37/4 in BR large loco wouldn’t go amiss too. 37403 would certainly get my attention 😉
  8. I have already completed some light weathering of the roof and bogies (not pictured). Guess that makes me the at least one of the first 😆
  9. Not sure if this question has been asked before, but apologies if it has. For those who are installing their own DCC Sound decoder and speaker, are there solder tabs on the loco PCB to attach the speaker to?
  10. The latest issue of Hornby Magazine reports in their summary of all confirmed models from all manufacturers that the steam generator fitted version of 2007 Prince of Wales is due in November. All other P2 models don’t currently have a confirmed release date according to the article.
  11. What a brilliant announcement! Always wanted one of these and congratulations to Rapido UK for taking it on. Any chance of the other three preserved Scottish pre-grouping tender locos some day? Would be good to have the full set eventually!
  12. Having also taken delivery of my Green Arrow today, while the black paint at the meeting point between the cab and firebox is thicker than I would have expected it does not detract from the look of the engine. There is definitely no major gap between cab and firebox, it's ultimately down to the livery application. The 'polished' valve gear and tyres are very brightly done, but since they are polished on the preserved engine it is at least replicating current appearance. Regardless, neither feature detracts from what is a very impressive model which captures the character of there real thing very nicely
  13. Some 1SXX head codes would be nice too. Some more variety that can be cut and stitched together would be good
  14. Whilst a bit out of era and modelling interest for me, Rule 1 was enough to persuade me to get a set of the MC Metals MDVs. They were barely through the door before being weathered. What brilliant models these are!
  15. I think there are a few items missing from the updated page. For example, 9Fs and the second run of 2MTs. I’m sure they’ll appear on the list before too long
  16. It's also dated 1st April 2019. So I doubt BR blue is on the cards
  17. My bet is on a USATC S160. It’s meets both of the hints that it is a steam loco and has something to do with America
  18. The new Edition of The Collector's club magazine confirms that the tooling suite allows for Tyne Dock locomotives as well as covering "every version" of the locomotive
  19. Has the Bachmann announcement moved? The only announcement that I'm aware of tomorrow is Hornby's Christmas launch at 10am.
  20. If a Caley 439 was announced (and 419 specifically) then that would make a lot of people happy. Including me!
  21. It is my interpretation of Stepney as preserved with number plate on the cab side. I put Rule 1 into affect and left the pump on as it would need holes filled and paint colour matched all while not damaging the lining
  22. Hi Alex, Thanks very much! I used Humbrol No.2 Emerald green with a Humbrol No.1 primer base (both acrylic), and the transfers were custom made for me (tank sides, builders plates and buffer beam numbering). I did a few thin layers of the green to try and get is as smooth as possible as I was brush painting. Hope that helps. Jack
  23. Definitely a much improved mechanism compared to the previous incarnation. My two LMR versions very quickly went green on delivery to represent the two Bo'ness examples: NCB No.19 and WD 75254 (ended it's ticket as 68007 and is currently under overhaul)
  24. Mine didn't last long before Brighton Works became Stepney
