  2. The Arth Rigi Bahn (ARB) at Arth Goldau for today's photos. It is well worth having a ride up the Rigi, either from Arth Goldau or Vitznau - or go one way and come back the other. 6. As you will have noticed the proportion of photos taken in the north east is now increasing as my photos move into the 1980s. At the moment I am working on my photos from around 1982 and dad's from 1976, though I do have quite a lot of older ones captioned ready for use in due course. The photos start for today in Gateshead and move in the direction of Sunderland, ending at Monkton cokeworks. Once again the passenger rains are just the humdrum Class 101's typical of the line at the time. 10. Thanks again Mark. I've had a look at my notes (and dad's as I was visiting at the time) and your suggestions are almost certainly correct (as usual). Those times and day certainly fit with the other photos I took around then. David
  11. Many thanks for the comments. As you can see from the link posted by beast66606 it really is a down train, thanks to keefer for correcting the actual train details, I've altered the caption. Having taken photos over many years on the ECML I still find it difficult to sort out the headcodes used over the years, especially when I am looking at the earlier photos. From time to time I have problems with down and up as some followers of the thread already know. David

  14. 35A, Thanks very much for the detailed information. I think you have managed to identify the locos. From memory I went to Bottesford in the last few days of July to visit my parents, I think that was the year that Mum spent part of the summer in hospital so I had a longer visit to them than usual. That would mean that the date after mid August for the last photo might well be right. David
  15. Yes, a typo once again, it really is 20209. It might be 20172 with 20163 but I'm not quite certain enough to put in the caption as certain, so I've put it a question mark. Many thanks for the information. David.

  19. Photos taken from 1981 on wards at Morpeth today. Of course by now you all know that Morpeth is on the ECML north of Newcastle and that at the southern end of the station there is a sharp curve which restricts trains to 50mph. I had problems with colour in one of the photos today. 24. That is very interesting indeed. There's a lot more left to see than I had thought. It's a very long time since I lived in the area and I never did get round to taking many photos. I spent most of time photographing the High Dyke branch and the lines connnected to it. My photos of the line are at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/sets/72157626274180803 There are also a few more of Belvoir Junction in my Grantham to Nottingham album at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/albums/72157626279144040/page2 My High Dyke and ironstone line photos, in 4 albums on flickr are at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/sets/72157626274246892 https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/sets/72157626169910951 https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/sets/72157629665116290 https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/sets/72157626420020389 Some of the photos show machinery, wagons etc and may be of some use.
