  1. Is anyone taking bets on how many pages of froth this topic is going to generate. I bet on 20, lol
  2. Many thanks for the D20 and the spare set of fittings for my D20/2, really appreciated. I must not but am seriously getting tempted by a Q7.....
  3. There are also the OPC track plans which are with the NRM.
  4. Its obvious really, they have announced a couple of weeks of frothing, followed by a cold front of its not fair, it should be this and this detail or that detail is wrong. Then will come the we want this version or that version. Followed by complaints about the price and then doubtless complaints it is not quite right. I'll get my coat, lol
  5. Nice to see the layouts as I never got out of the shed all weekend!
  6. Oh yes, at least 69 will be back later this year and its FAB from what I remember from being a young fireman (where did the time go) ?!!!
  7. I'll miss the fact its a good engine and is fun to drive. Bring back 80079 (I can but hope one day)
  8. Glad you were happy with the 52xx. Lots more locos on the stand tomorrow
  9. Simple, the adverts which make Ebay run at a snails pace!
  10. If you attended today I hope you all had a good day despite the rain. If you came and bought from us, thank you we have raised a good amount of money for the Charitable Trust today. We are in the shed at Bridgnorth tomorrow from 10am till 4pm - I've dug out more things, Comet coach sides and underframes, OO society detailing kits for Mk1 coaches, various Gibson and other loco fittings, a Pannier and Castle detailing kit, various tenders. We have also added some complete kits like a Westward West Country, DMR K1, Crownline std 5. What we raise will directly help with the appeal to restore Falling Sands viaduct, which launched today. There is no parking on the field at Bridgnorth, so instead there is a park and ride from the Cattle Market / Nock Dieghton at the top end of town (There are signposts) Best wishes Duncan
  11. Well Open House weekend is finally here with over 30 layouts and unusual engines operating. Attractions include: Intensive steam and diesel train service, featuring 1874-built Bellerophon on local services. Behind the scenes at Bridgnorth: Locomotive Works, Boilershop and Signalbox Behind the scenes at Bewdley: Carriage & Wagon Yard and Bewdley North Signalbox. Behind the scenes at Kidderminster: Diesel Depot and Signalbox. Over 30 model railway layouts on display in Kidderminster Diesel Depot and The Engine House, Highley. Kidderminster's Coalyard Miniature Railway open on both days, with the Paddock Railway at Hampton Loade in steam on Sunday. Cream Tea Service in our observation saloon. Grab yourself a bargain at our second-hand model railway stall situated in the Locomotive Works at Bridgnorth. The stall is selling the model railway collections of two long-standing Bridgnorth volunteers; Ken Quanborough and Mike Parker, both of whom have passed away. With Ken's, all the money goes to the Charitable Trust and with Mike's 50% goes to the Charitable Trust. So far, the stall has raised £4k for the Charitable Trust in selling the model railway items. (come along and say hello) Model railways include: Upper Studley: the terminus of a country branch near Gloucester in about 1961. Wantage: a homage to the Wantage Tramway as it was in the mid-thirties modelled in 3mm fine scale. Fair T Middlin: 1950/60s fictional industrial area in the North of England. It's All White: it's deep winter on the moors, and the double mainline, junction and goods yard are under a blanket of snow. Arley: our very own station at Arley in '00' gauge, depicting the Great Western Railway or preservation era. Brewery Lane: an industrial scene modelled in '009', depicting the period of austerity in post-war Britain. Town & Country: after taking 5 years to build, this layout is based on pure imagination and not on any particular part of the country. Brynderi: through station with a small branchline and goods yard set in the 1950s. Much Snoreing: the sleepy old market town of Much Snoreing where the Great Western Mainline meets to the little branch line. Ridge Lane: loaded stone wagons are bought down from the quarry and handed over to the larger narrow gauge locomotives in the shunting area. Mannin Middle: by the summer of 1964, the Isle of Man steam railway was a shadow of its former self, with the Foxdale Branch seeing few passengers. Woltersdorfer Strassenbahn: a tramway in East Berlin from the early 1900s to the present day. Rolleston-On-Dove: 'EM' gauge layout portraying the station at Rolleston-On-Dove on the ex-North Staffordshire line from Burton. Heybridge Wharf: a fictitious inland wharf somewhere in Suffolk. Atherley Narrows: 'HO' scale Canadian Pacific in Southern Ontario in the 1990s, built around a swing bridge. Willowbrook Marsh: a small goods depot and maltings complex, situated on the borders of the Midland and Eastern regions of British Railways during the mid 1950-60’s period. Afon Adit: a gold mine somewhere in Mid Wales. Margate Road: double track through station in '00', including a small goods yard. Corwenna: inspired by the Wenford Bridge Branch in Cornwall, the fictional layout is served by Pannier Tanks and Beattie Well Tanks. Hampton End: a small branchline serving a small village saved by preservationists, and now running foreign engines and stock. Gravelly Oak: an imaginary London Midland commuter terminus on the outskirts of the West Midlands. Baggies TMD: Based in the West Midlands, Baggies TMD is a fictional EWS depot around the start of the 2000’s on a cold winter’s day at dusk. Illie Town: a layout based in the Midlands, served by London Midland, Chiltern and East Midlands Trains passenger services, alongside a steel warehouse and a two road depot and fuelling point. Amiens 1918 – Tracks & Trenches: set during the Hundred Days Offensive Battle, this scene depicts a re-captured Artillery Battery, now an Allied field headquarters and supplydepot. Stokesay: ‘N’ gauge layout based on the Welsh Marches line at Craven Arms Station in the 1980s and 1990s, running authentic scheduled services. A Remote Depot: ‘00’ gauge loading facility where every part of the process is modelled and fully operational – from delivery by road via tipper lorry, to the loading shovel filling the wagons before they’re taken away by rail. Orchard Road: fictitious diesel depot based in Devon between 1975 and 1983, with some sound-fitted locomotives. Southwick: it's the end of steam on BR's Southern Region somewhere in Hampshire, and diesels are slowly taking over from steam. With the Trust needing this year to raise £275,000 for Falling Sands viaduct they are launching their 'Helping hands for falling sands viaduct. They aim to do this from supporters, members of the public, businesses and grant making organisations which will help us to unlock a further £1 million from the Heritage Lottery fund. This means we will be able to carry out essential repairs to Falling Sands viaduct. People will be able to sign up at the Open House event to donate and have your name added to the SVR's first ever donation wall which will go on display at the Engine House Visitor Centre, at Highley early next year. Alternatively its easy to make a donation and add a name to the wall online via the new Trust Website at svrtrust.org.uk . You can also watch a promotional video about the viaduct and what we need to do to keep it https://www.svrtrust.org.uk/shopping.php . All on the railway hope many, maybe some of you might support this important appeal. Hope to see some of you over the weekend. Duncan
  12. 72 is not bad at all, showing signs of being 9 years into its ticket, but still a nice engine. I don't know about ready to run, but Brassmasters are looking at a kit for a 15xx.
  13. I'm sure somewhere I have got a drawing showing the elevation of the cab front showing the backhead and rear showing the shovel plate, etc. I will have a look at home and let you know.
  14. As many of you know the Charitable Trust was set up a few years ago to help to support and finance some of the bigger projects on the railway and our apprentices. They have worked very hard and with a small team have made great strides forwards in helping us to get funding on projects as well. Sometimes late members have asked the Trust to dispose of items to them help support them. One of these members Mike Parker or FUT to everyone who knew him asked his collection of basically mainly brand new Hornby, Bachman with the odd other make thrown in were sold with profits being split evenly between the Trust and his family. You may remember seeing us in the Shed at Bridgnorth last Open House weekend, or at Warley with 1450. We will be having a further stall in the shed at Bridgnorth again on the weekend of Open House. Mike's models got enjoyed, but many came out of the box to be looked at once and then were put away again, never to come out. So if you are coming over that weekend, stop by and say hello, have a browse and you never know what you might find.
  15. To those who came over the weekend I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, despite the cold. Sunday am was a challenge getting points unfrozen. I had never driven down the valley with about 2 inches of snow on the railhead so that was a first. Amazing on how it slows you down even downhill. With apologies to the faint hearted for the clag, here are a few shots from yesterday. I didn't think there was any clag showing so shut off momentarily when I saw the video taking enthusiasts just short of Eardington, there was a bit more than I expected considering we had a good hot fire bed. https://www.facebook.com/steamvalleyproductions/videos/1016276168522887/?comment_id=10155412926816989&reply_comment_id=10155412940281989&notif_id=1521487335953207&notif_t=group_comment Anyway enjoy the views and hope to see some of you on the Valley this year. Duncan
  16. For anyone who has visited I hope you have had a great time. If you are visiting tomorrow please can I ask for caution if parking and walking around Eardington and Country Park, where there have sadly been incidents with people who claim to be enthusiasts who have damaged fences resulting in some horses getting out and abusing locals on public roads and highways. I'm hoping it will not be too cold when I leave Bridgnorth tomorrow at 7 light engine for Kidder.
  17. I look forward to the etches and SR tender chassis reappearing
  18. Personally I'm finding scratch building a great antidote to my anxiety and depression. I don't care if I spend years on them as they are not available as kits or RTR. Best wishes Duncan
  19. Dave was incredible, the shop, the service. Really sorry to hear of your loss, however his memory will live on by the mainly trains parts becoming available again.
