  1. Sorry, I have not got any info on the ground frame
  2. So I have been doing a bit on this one. I have found a drawing of the waiting shelter, but it has errors so needs re-doing. I have found a drawing from 1962 of the crossing keepers cottage, again it needs checking. I've just about got views of most of the sides of the box and am following up on some leads on the back of the main building. One question I am yet to establish the answer to is how people entered / left the station. An early shot shows a path going round the side of the footbridge, but all the shots of the platform looking towards the footbridge obscure if there is a path there.
  3. Yes, that's the one. A rather interesting tender, which I hope to replicate one day.
  4. There is of course the last version, which is also the first Stanier fitted to 936. with sides raised up and over in the style of a Stanier 3500 gallon tender, but at the width of a Fowler tender.
  5. As a preference I prefer driving SKP to TV as find the brake valve sticks less and the regulator has more sensation. Its been great having this engine and I know it has helped us enormously over the last few years. I look forward to the engine which has been got for next year till 75069 and 2968 are both back in traffic.
  6. In answer to your question, things which could be of interest are a Highland Castle with six wheel tender, Highland Clan, Clan Goods, Durn and a LSWR K10 - I know strange mix
  7. As an aside has anyone ever seen a photo or elevation of the roadside of West Moors... It seems like the holly grail
  8. I am lucky in having a good number of JJ Cunningham's negs. so if you wanted to do a 4-6-4 for example I've several negs and more of things like the Mason 4-6-0's, and of course others. Have you tried the GSWR society they say http://www.gswrr.co.uk/page_3312991.html from £3 they say 'Sold in packs sometimes with a variety of drawings and supporting pictures. Almost all of the major locomotive classes and some other rolling stock available. Mostly to 7mm scale but a few also in 4mm. Priced from £3 upwards depending on how many sheets are involved. E-mail me ian.middleditch@talk21.com with your list of wants and I can quote price and availability' might be worth an email if you have not tried. I have got a neg of a LSWR Paddlebox 4-6-0 which just shows the engine and the very front of the tender in LSWR days if of interest?
  9. Sorry I can't help with the 309 class, but I found 1 negative by JJ Cunningham in my collection of a 275, 16109 at Glasgow St Enoch shed. Hope its useful. It must have gone early as JJ Cunningham was prolific and I have about 600 of his negatives. Duncan
  10. Looks like all the etchings are there, but oh how that kit could have been made better with some simple half etching. Obviously all the fittings are missing, but you can buy them from South Eastern Finecast based on the engine you are building. I can't see a motion support bracket or slide bars and the cylinders look...interesting. Falcon Brass instructions aren't that great so perhaps and exploded diagram from SEF would help you out? Which one are you building?
  11. I'm not sure. The bit on Kinlet is just a magazine article. The books though will probably be available from Ian Allan
  12. You may be interested to learn that once Dave Postle has sent 2 books to the printers (due to happen soon) he will be writing an article on Kinlet sidings compete with a photo of the box - of which he denies all knowledge
  13. Its simple, you are paying for the experience so it is up to you how much or little you do. I have had some able to do the regulator, reverser and injectors, but not up to firing, which is no issue. As 57xx says as long as you are fit enough to get on a footplate. Most of the time engines are not too large as that makes it not too bad for us normally 43106 or one of the Manors. For years we used 6443 which was perfect, a large cab and small engine.
  14. A dealer will of course give you no where near the market value - probably at best 50% of the value. Having said that it would be quicker. I'm in the process of selling of a friends collection. I have the advantage of being part of the SVR and funds going to the Charitable Trust so I can run stalls on the railway and try to sell to people there by circulating lists of what is available, which in turn means more for the Trust. We know though eventually Ebay will have to be used and that will eat up more cost. I priced everything on sold ebay prices, not the mad amounts some try to get. I guess how you do it depends on what the collection is, how much stuff there is, is it new and fairly easy to move, is it older things which may have a lower value, is it just model railways, is it negatives (if they are pre 68, I might be interested) how well organised it is. I once sorted about 10 large boxes of a collection of parts just thrown in for another friend to help him sell them. Good luck
  15. What do the minutes of the Joint Committee say, surely they must say when it opened?
  16. On that basis I hope they hoover the ex Ian Rice etched products which Mainly Trains used to sell.
  17. The best I can do is this one and this one - I can't remember if I won this one, but will dig through my negs when I get chance. Not sure if they are of interest, but I spent some time doing some drawings. I've got most of the front elevation of the box drawn as well if its any good. However I then stopped on the end elevations waiting for a decent shot. Tim Chapman (Tingly Tim) has put a good view on Flickr, but family, railway and other commitments have prevented the time in doing the remaining elevations. Look forward to seeing the model. Best wishes Duncan
  18. 1501 is a cracking engine, the only time a wobble is really noticeable is when its light engine. It will pull the back of a horse. I think a new kit or ready to run would be lovely. I've currently got a built 15xx from the estate of a late friend who I agreed to sell but its tempting to buy it myself.
  19. More recently of course he is also the voice of lots of 'Jo Jingles' songs. My children's favourite is 'down at the station, early in the morning, see the little puffer trains all in a row, along comes daddy, pulls a little lever, puff, puff, off we go' lol
  20. Sorry to dredge up an old topic, Where is the best place to buy a 15xx from in oo and what sort of prices would I have to pay. Is it still over £300 or as an old kit £130?
  21. Sounds interesting, are there any views of the rear of the S&D main station building at Highbridge, that alone could make it worth buying?
  22. There is certainly enough in the bunker to do 70 miles, so, bearing in mind the diagrams which I know about they would not have been re-coaled in the day. Likewise I have not seen any photos on shed connected, but for coaling would imagine they were always disconnected. The auto gear is a faf as you have got to get it in line and its best done on a straight bit of track (sometimes you need someone jiggling the regulator in the coach to get it in line. The rest of the connectors are straight forward. Sorry probably not much help either.
