  1. Cheers Paul, the body in the photo is the first prototype and modifications have to be done before I do a fully fitted model, i.e. coupling and bogie mounting points also it was slightly warped when first done.. Melangoose said, "If you are having problems with the Matt vinyl sticking, as previously mentioned the Fox Transfer idea is probably the way forward.I think you should change your Rmweb name to Millway Wagon Workshop". Thanks Nige, I have done exactly that and the Fox transfers arrived yesterday and have been applied, as pictured below, also pictured another salt wagon. Again my thanks to Wayne37901 Unfortunately I managed to break off the lifting lugs whilst applying the transfers, I must use a smaller hammer next time. Kevin.
  2. Here are some pictures of a prototype 3D printed Warflat body that I have had done. And along side my scratch built model that served as a master for it, this model is fitted with Cambrian Bogies and Appleby buffer beams and jacks but other manufacturers bogies and perhaps Gramodels buffer beams and jacks (kit Number 401a) could be used, PM me for more information. Best regards. Kevin
  3. Many thanks for that Wayne just ordered some from Fox. 08451 shunts wagons in Leaford Jct yard. Best regards Kevin
  4. Hi Nige, I will do some more, but, as you can see from the photo below I need to get the sticky chevroned paper to stick better first, I wonder Nige would the paper stick better if on a gloss finish? Also a "Salt Wagon" nears completion - just awaiting decals and weathering. Many thanks for the loan of the originals. See you soon. Kevin
  5. Hello Rich, Four of my Warflats are built from Genesis kits and the rest are built from scratch out of Plasticard, the original bogies proved to be problematic when running carrying the heavy weight of the cast kits body so they were replaced with what I had laying around spare at the time, and using what is laying about spare was the reason they went under the scratch ones as well, Cambrian ones are cheap, reliable and easy to build. Incidently I have had one modern Warflat body 3D printed with good results I will post a picture asap. I do not think that Steve does commisions I will see if I can find out. I have also been building other wagons, this one photographed is a "Black Adder" using Cambrian running gear and other bits. Many thanks for your kind comment Shed. Cheerio for now.
  6. Ok Rich as requested some more pics of Steve's TDA, they are as close as my camera is able to get and still see the detail, I hope that they are ok? Both sides of the wagon are the same. It is a quiet Sunday in the yard at Leaford Town as a Class 33 awaits its next duty. And an MOD train awaits onward movement bound for Ludgershall. Kevin.
  7. Hello Wayne, unfortunately I don't have the wagon you have mentioned - from your description it sounds as if I would like it. Since the above has re-appeared I have been doing some thinking!!! Best regards Kevin
  8. Happy New Year Pete and family, keep up with the excellent work that you do on Llanbourne, and I look forward to a meetup when your visiting in the future. Kevin.
  9. My thanks to Paul and Nige for the excellent photos, and well spotted Wayne 37901 you are correct, his models are always good aren't they? 33059 arrives at Leaford quay at the head of a cruise ship special consisting of vans with luggage. Happy New Year, Kevin
  10. Thanks Pete you will allways be welcome at Leaford whenever you are over, Hi Paul, have you not seen the underground part of the layout? It would appear I have made a too good job of it !! Many thanks to 40-something and rob D2 for your kind comments and for looking in. Class 73 73126 shunts an MOD train on the busy keyside at Leaford. Happy New Year Kevin.
  11. Many thanks for looking in Bob, Here is a picture of the Anita P the ship that the Molly J is based upon. Kevin.
  12. The M V Molly J has arrived at Leaford and makes ready to unload and reload, A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Kevin.
  13. Many thanks Nigel, Excellent Video as usual, Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Kevin.
  14. Yes Richard the cranes are certainly an excellent piece of kit, mine have not stopped being moved from one yard to t'other since they have arrived, they both to me capture something very rare in oo guage models the feeling/look of weight, particularly the 12 tonner, it looks heavy even though the model is not, I hope that they continue to give you as much enjoyment as they do for me. Best regards. Kevin
  15. Just a quick up-date, I am slowly working through my bucket list of stuff I have always wanted on a layout, and inspired by a photo of a cargo ship in port on a large American layout sent to me by my mate Nigel Crow, and also by Carl1967 in his scratch built Hebridean Ferry thread from a couple years back, I decided to build a ship especially as I now have a dock for it, unfortunately I do not have enough room or the skills to scratch build a beautiful ferry like Carl1967 or the ferry port it would need, so it would have to be a ship suitable for the docks at Leaford. Nigel told me that the container ship on the American layout appeared to be a Deans Marine Kit and close by him was a shop specializing in Radio Control ships, so further research scanning through the interweb I found a more suitable smaller freighter ship kit made by Deans Marine called the M V Timrex which is scaled at 1/72 and built in the 70s, so we went to Nigels local shop and MV Timrex was duly ordered. I have modified the kit as I have built it to make it a bit more scale like and as Leaford Docks is a bit short of cranes it is fitted with its own unloading facility? although the ship itself is more or less completed it still has to be properly merged into its correct position alongside the dock. Kevin.
  16. I am so pleased that I have now received both of my new models from Make Your Mark Models and I know Pitbull and Temeraire expressed an interest in seeing a picture, so here they arriving at Leaford Town Yard being hauled by 33 002. Many thanks Mark they are just fantastic. Meanwhile over in the Docks a couple of guys are demonstrating what to do if your ladder is too short!!, mind you they must be safety conscious judging by the colour of thier van. Cheerio for now, Kevin
  17. Hi Jamie, to answer your question on my thoughts on the Dapol 73:- " It is a very finely detailed accurate well designed powerful model that runs with supurb smooth slow speed", but with a couple of shortcomings, firstly - the well documented livery problems and secondary - it can be problematic in its current collection . As they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are a couple of pictures of my solutions to overcome this models shortcomings:- My model of 73 138 with roof and lower bodyside sprayed Railfreight Grey, some may not be able to, but I can live with Dapol's shade of yellow. Extra pickups fitted to the same model. I hope that you like it, I have three Dapol class 73's in use on Leaford and they are some of my best detailed models and thier haulage power and running qualities are superb (very important when having to climb the steep ramps) my best regards, Kevin.
  18. My thanks for the photos Pete and it was certainly a great day, I am pleased that you enjoyed it I certainly did, I look forward to another visit again in the future, also my thanks are due to the other RM Webbers who also made my day so enjoyable. My best regards, Kevin.
  19. Hi Marcyg, I was brought up with the earlier D series and moved on to cargoes when I drove for Londis, I remember the 6 speed gearbox could be a problem with a few miles on the clock - but compared to the Leyland Clydesdales of the time with its crash gearbox the Fords were a peach. As always I like to post a picture:-- It would appear that the civil engineers have moved into Leaford Town yard ready for the weekend posession.
  20. PaulRHB has spent much of his time and skills producing transfers for the re-livery of some of the road vehicles on Leaford, as usual a fantastic job, many thanks Paul.
  21. Hello Jamie, the end wagons of each Cartic 4 are indeed Hornby with slight modifications whereas the centre wagons are cut & shut Hornby, the mesh added to the sides is made from Evergreen plastic strip and net curtaining and each 4 car set takes 24 Oxford Diecast Capri's and Escort's, as can be seen I have recently purchased a second set and have the need for some more plastic strip and net curtaining. Best Regards Kevin
  22. I think that you are right Paul especially after my last trip to Bournemouth!! Kevin
  23. Really looks good mate, excellent job, I must phone you ref: Railtour, speak to you later. Kevin
  24. Class 47 114 prepares to leave Leaford Jcnt with a trip working to Eastleigh, My thanks to John Dedman for his inspirational photos on Flikr. Cheerio for now, Kevin.
