  1. Many thanks, guys, for your answers above. Your help is much appreciated. Keith
  2. Have just been looking at the reprint of the Winter 1955/56 edition of the British Railways Locomotives Combined Volume and see that 67717 was shedded at 32C Lowestoft at that time. My Grandad (the one who got me into trains B) ) was a fitter at Lowestoft Shed in the 1950's so I think it's a dead cert that he may have done some work on 67717. With this in mind I just have to have this loco...and contact was made with The HobbyShop at Faversham Would, by any chance, anyone here have any idea when 67717 would have been repainted from green to black? Have googled 67717 but nothing comes up about this particular L1 - although there was information about about another L1. Thanks in advance, Keith
  3. At lunchtime today I ordered some OO gauge stuff from Kernow and (as I'm having a dabble in O gauge) added a Slaters O gauge wagon kit at the end of the order. Within 30 minutes of placing my order the phone rang and it was a lady (presumambly Sam mentioned above) calling to confirm that I had in fact ordered an O gauge item with the OO gauge stuff - she was worried that I may have ordered the O gauge wagon by mistake having meant to order an OO gauge one. Confirmed that I did, in fact, want an O gauge kit, we exchanged pleasantries and I thanked her for going to the trouble of phoning to confirm the order. That's service for you!! Well done Kernow Keith
  4. I too rode the 4-DD to work in the mid-60s.....and a few years later purchased the MTK 4-DD kit which is still undisturbed in it's boxes. Maybe one day I'll get someone to build it for me....there's certainly no way I could build it myself.....think one problem would be keeping the upper deck windows in place........ Keith
  5. Lubberly Jubberly, having seen these pics might add to my preorder
  6. ....just checked my credit card account and see that Kernow have sucked some money out so can't be long to wait B) Keith
  7. Thanks to Garry's posting I've made my first foray into "0" - on it's way from Hereford is a Class 20 and three Mark.I coaches - at £100 less than that offered by my regular supplier of Heljan OO. No chance of an "O" layout here at home (no space with my OO/HO indoors and 45mm outdoors ) so the Cl.20 and coaches will stretch their legs on the outdoors track at the Romney Marsh Model Engineering Society...... Keith
  8. .....and I've had my phone call confirming that I want the sound-equipped version.....just got to wait a little longer for it to arrive.......
  9. Fantastic looking models......wonder if they will get round to doing an HO version....but then Kato are supposed to be doing an HO Hiroshima Green Mover..... Managed to visit Toyama before they started work on the Port Tram but not been able to get there since the new system started operating....something to do in the future B) Keith
  10. The HobbyShop is my local store as well - just 25 miles away cross-country on the A260 and A2. Since Mark retired his son, Harvey, has been running the shop single-handed.....and I don't know how he manages it!! Endorse fully all the comments made above.... Try to get over there once a month - next visit is planned for Saturday followed by a drive further up the A2 to Teynham to attend the G Scale Society Kent Group's "Big Winter Meet". Keith
  11. Just an update....the NRM requested that the loco be returned to their returns warehouse in Warwick (using the 2nd Class Pre-Paid postage label)and then reorder a new loco once the refund was approved. They could not do a direct swap for the defective loco. Posted the loco back to the NRM on Wednesday 16/12/2009 at 14.56 and received a refund notification from NRM at today Friday 18/12/2009 at 16.36, the returned loco having been received at 16.15. Phoned the NRM at 16.48 and ordered a replacement loco. The NRM order/refund numbers are as follows: Original Order Number: R-00000091 Refund Number: RR-00000003 Replacement Order Number: R-00000849 So, if the above numbers are a numerical record of sales then presume they've had 3 returns for 848 models sold so far. What impresses me, though, is that Royal Mail delivered the return package in 2 days and the NRM processed the refund in 21 minutes. Keith
  12. Mine arrived today and just had a look....and what do I find...the smokebox door is swinging about held on by only the bottom hinge. Have got out the magnifying glass and spotlight and it seems as though the upper hinge fitting is broken. I thought I would be able to clip something in place but there does not seem to be anything to clip it into. Will this be the first model to be returned to the NRM? Anybody else had a similar problem....or am I just unlucky? E:mail sent to NRM....waiting to hear what they say. Keith
