  1. The layouts boards collected so now the planning can start over the Christmas break. Two boards 4x2 feet it should give me a good run at 8x2 feet. Made by John Cox to his usual standards so they’ll be good.
  2. Layout ready to go for the weekend at the NEC. And looking forward to it. We’re C50 on the plan It’s been a long wait but I hope this weekend the show is a success for all to get us back after a tough few years. See some of you there Steve.
  3. Thanks for the pics love the 140 shot. I do have a model of the 140 unfortunately it’s OO gauge. A MTK kit built yers ago.
  4. If you look there’s quite a few O gauge layouts at this show. And it’s not until the 12/13 of November.
  5. The layouts last show for the year is a local show for me in Crewe held by the Alsager Railway Association. Details dates etc in the exhibitions section. Stock and layout is ready to go to be honest not changing much from what we ran at Barrow in October. Although Pete my second operator wants the cargowaggon bogie van to have a run out. The next outing for the layout is at the end of January at the Pontefract show.
  6. Readying the layout for Warley show the trains I’ve decided to run are on the layout. The new items of stock are completed and on the layout. We’ll be running in it’s late 1970s guise as I’ve not quite got all the stock for a early to mid 80s era as yet. Looking forward to the show as I’ve always enjoyed Warley show either as an exhibitor or visitor. The next outing for the layout is next February when it’s north of the boarder for Modelrail Scotland in Glasgow.
  7. Looking forward to bringing Hillport Goods to Crewe in a couple of weeks time.
  8. Readying the layout for Warley show at the NEC. I gave my regional 142 a run around the layout and I don’t think it looks out of place. Not sure they ever run March Spalding sort of area when they were introduced. Plus running late 70s and they weren’t around then. I’ll just stick to my Cravens 105. Other odd items of stock should be finished for Warley.
  9. Hopeless a new N gauge layout by Pete Latham is also making its debut at Warrington this weekend. Alas no pics as I’ve not seen it yet.
  10. Looking forward to bringing Hillport Goods to the show its all ready for loading into the car tomorrow morning ready for a trip up the M6.
  11. The layout has been made ready for this Saturday and it’s appearance at The Mid Essex show held in Shenfield see details in the events section. It will again be running in Central Trains mode with hopefully no locomotives just the DMUs. Its the layouts last show for this year. Hope to see some of you Steve.
  12. Many thanks for posting the pictures of the layout above.
  13. Really enjoyed the weekend at guildex the layout ran really well. It was nice to receive all the comments regarding the layout and stock, and speak to many people. If has any pictures they’d like to share on here of the layout I’d love to see them as it’s always good to see another persons perspective and what they see as a picture of the layout or stock. Thanks
  14. Track cleaning today ahead of Guildex next weekend. The layout is entered in the guilds O gauge small layouts competition held Over from 2020. There will be 5 layouts at Stafford that were entered. A recent pic of a25 in the goods dock while I’ve been giving the locomotives a test over the last few weeks.
  15. Looking forward to bringing Ryecroft Arena to the show. A micro layout of a modern minories layout using only DMUs In N gauge. See you there.
  16. The layout is dusted off and set up prior to its next run of shows. I have made a few modifications to enable carrying the controller and transformers better this will help in setting up. Shows till the end of the year are guildex at Stafford showground in Bingley Hall at the start of September Looking forward to this one as it’s the big O gauge do of the year and they’ve moved from Telford to somewhere even closer to where I live. Next show is Barrow in Furness in October and to finish off with the Crewe show put on by the Alsager Model Railway Association. Good to be back out with the layout. Steve.
  17. No I’ll vouch David Tailby was operating an N gauge layout with more than 3 points on it and no wagons. He also admitted to me he was enjoying it.
  18. To all the organizers a great event and it looks like you’ve found a great venue. I was helped in by town hall staff on Saturday morning when I arrived with the layout. Great to meet everyone again and catch up. Best layouts there in my eyes after my own of course was Wellpark followed closely by Mellingoose. To be honest though all the layouts were great and great to see. Well done again all the DEMU folk who put the show on. Thanks to Cath and Dave (Booklaw) for the supply of teas and manning the layout so I could have five. Steve
  19. All back safely after a really enjoyable weekend at Sutton Coldfield. The layout ran well and I was surprised how well the layout was received and comments made. It even got more invites to shows and is also going to appear in print. Really chuffed how it all went and good to meet up with people that I’d not seen for best part of 3 years. Unfortunately one locomotive was run. A visitor asked me if I’d mind testing his class 70 he’d bought so it made an appearance.
  20. Just a reminder that Ryecroft Arena is one of the layouts at DEMU Showcase at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall this weekend. It certainly won’t be the biggest layout there and I doubt there’ll be any locomotives running but please do come and have a look at it. many thanks see you over the weekend hopefully Steve.
  21. Looking forward to showing Ryecroft Arena next weekend at showcase. It will be running in Birmingham mode and will be probably the only layout there with no locomotives on it. Central trains 153,156,150,158,170 and Chiltern Trains 168 being the order of the day. See you there.
  22. I’ve been adding a few small details to the layout with its up and coming appearance at DEMU Showcase at the end of July. Ive also had a few running sessions trying different unit formations based on what I saw around the West Midlands around 2000ish. Just a couple of pics for you.
  23. Now you’ve stacked them they won’t be used again much once the O Gauge bug has set in.
  24. A low level pic Shows the buildings dominating the scene.
