  1. Hi @Accurascale Fran, @Accurascale Just following up - is there a plan to release an updated, downloadable catalogue? I know products can in a constant state of flux, what with new products being added, etc., but a downloadable catalogue is valuable reference material when not online. I suspect I'm not alone hoping for one! Thanks in advance, Ixion.
  2. Hi, I noticed that the Spring 2023 PDF Catalogue seemed to disappear from the Accurascale website a while back, perhaps when the site was updated. Is there any plan to produce an up to date PDF Catalogue download? I imagine there is quite a bit of preparation involved but I always found it useful reference when not online. Thanks, Ixion.
  3. Hi YT-1300, Thanks for your reply but to be honest I cannot see where @atom3624's 2nd question of whether the 'working radiator fan' can be disabled on a DC model, either by DIP switches or otherwise, is answered and certainly not in the first Accurascale post. From the first Accurascale post, the nearest text I see is this: 'Our Class 50 is the culmination of over three years of development that began with a 3D laser scan of No. 50017 at the Great Central Railway in 2019. Building on our growing range of diesel and electric locomotives, the EE Type 4 features their most impressive specification yet, with our ground shaking twin-speaker set up, working radiator fan, flange squeal sensor, full lighting package that includes preservation era oddballs, engine room and cab lighting with auto off feature and eight cab configurations with illuminated driver’s control desk.' Additionally, a quick check over the blog on their website and one or two specification lists for the models themselves also showed no answer to the original 2nd question. Hopefully @Accurascale Fran can provide an answer - though I suspect busy from this weekend's show. Thanks, Ixion.
  4. Hi atom3624, They say a question is never a silly question, so hope this helps address the two you posed... Accurascale's website does indeed say the 50 has an operational fan, as does the Class 31. To clarify, the specifications for 'Common Features' state: For the 50: 'Separately powered working radiator fan with different speed settings' For the 31: 'All models feature a fully working, scale speed roof fan, that will run on DC and DCC., On DCC control, the fan speed is fully programmed to simulate accurate motion' However, to answer your second, and I suspect the main point of your query, I have looked over Accurascale's website myself and cannot find any reference where it says that it can be disabled by DIP switches on DC or even DCC. There is mention of it being controllable, including its speed but it appears to be in the context of DCC control. My guess would be that they would cater for DC options with switches but that is just a guess, so... @Accurascale Fran - Does the Class 50 have DIP switches that on DC operation allow the fan to be disabled/controlled? Hope that helps and gets an answer from the people who know! FYI - in the first 5 pages of this thread, the only reference to 'fan' appears to be people who are 'fans' of the real locos! Cheers, Ixion.
  5. Intrigued! Could it be magnetic damping? With the right wheel metal, as the wheel rotates, a nearby neodymium magnet might provide enough drag to very lightly pull on the inter-vehicle couplings. This would be through Eddy currents, not direct magnetic attraction, hence the 'right wheel metal' is required. At standstill, the drag is zero but as the wheel starts to rotate a subtle drag is provided, enough perhaps to keep couplings in extension? The drag would increase with train speed, so subtle stuttering of the loco at speed might be cancelled out. Once an engineer...
  6. I think you'll find the model is in 1970's condition (both Rails and Locomotion models are exactly the same, I believe). The model's overhead warning symbols are a red lightning strike on a white background and 252001 is on the front. In preservation, it has the modern black and yellow version of the overhead warning symbols, presumably to conform to modern safety standards, especially if it ventures out and about. As far as I can remember seeing the real thing in preservation, it also lacks the 252001 number on the front, even after a search online for more recent images. I hope they also do 41002, though can't help but feel after this release there will be a twin pack of both and possibly a second pack with the departmental yellow wraparound ends to further enhance sales. It would be superb if the Mk3s were also commissioned, and perhaps the substituting Mk1 used in the early days, to make up typical sets (aside from any compromises), which I am sure would enhance sales at least a bit. That said, I am sure it will also sell well even as a one off, especially by visitors to the NRM as an iconic replica of a historically significant power car to take home. Looking forward to this one... I have already got the N-gauge set! Cheers, Ixion.
  7. To be fair to Accurascale, certificates are almost universally provided with models from manufacturers/retailers without allocation of specific numbers, i.e. any box supplied can contain any numbered certificate. If you're lucky, some suppliers may offer a chance to reserve a specific certificate (number) but that practice seems few and far between. Additionally, the first person to order a model and/or be supplied with one may not necessarily get certificate number 1 (or 2... if the supplier wants one too!). In that sense, it's usually a lottery as to which one you get... so, unless the manufacturer/supplier wishes to, there is no real need for them to tie a specific certificate number to a specific model or customer. So, as no specific promises were made that way by Accurascale (or many other manufacturers), looking into why none were provided when, as McC says, they should have been, and then recovering the issue by sending certificates out 'randomly' later is their best and I would say quickest option to resolve the discrepancy. In all fairness, I think they are now aware and doing what they can to resolve the issue, so fair play to them and I look forward to getting mine in due course! McC - apologies if I made an assumption that the online description was incorrect in this case (the ZDV wagon description aside...) but thanks for taking the time to explain and offer a fair recovery course of action - good stuff!
  8. Likewise, no certificate in my RTC box either. I'm afraid this is not the first time though.... as the ZDV wagon was also advertised to have one but did not and the listing even still says it does (sold out now). A certificate adds that little bit of extra 'sparkle' to the whole product, like the special packaging does for example. In balance and fairness, the whole RTC set packaging looks superb and very well presented, as do all Accurascale exclusives... so long keep them coming! Some might say it's only the model itself that matters and the box can be thrown but equally so, some enjoy the whole product (model, packaging, certificate...), all of which are products and pride behind the hard work from the manufacturer's employees, so it really is a case of each to their own and not to judge others. Personally, I enjoy the models greatly but the whole special package gives me that little extra happiness in my purchase. So, might I feedback that Accurascale make a quick point to double check the various product listings/adverts for any inconsistencies like this and correct them to prevent any discrepancies in the future? Then you really can say you can't do anything wrong!!! 😀 Thanks, Ixion.
  9. I'm sure when they seem them in the flesh, they'll find they're very 'app-ee-ling'!
  10. Don't think I ever knew of that one! Turns out Hornby did it (R2235G) as 'Ellington Colliery', but due an overhaul I am sure and presenting in an orange box!!
  11. @RBE 56001 'Whatley' in BR Construction Sector (Pristine) Preferably as a general release and if I say 'Please', could you make it happen? (Subliminal messaging in the colours lol)
  12. I've been looking for one of them for ages! No, not the 88, the SWMBO who actually encourages spending money on the hobby - double check for no hidden terms and conditions about a future spend on something else 🤣 Looking forward to seeing samples of these models... I am hoping to get the only one I am aware of that traversed the GWML, on a railtour ('The Springtime Cornishman' I think...) with 68034 in April 2019 - i.e. 88003 'Genesis'.
  13. For info, I believe it's only ever been done once in OO, by Dapol (p/n D80). Just look at those white wheel linings and pristine, shiny new livery just waiting to go on a bodyshell worthy of the livery... Of course, we would need some (...plenty of...) Yeoman wagons to pull*. Go on Cavalex, you know you want to... * from a standing start on an incline!!!!
  14. With you on Oystermouth in BR blue, though Hornby did a railfreight grey version but blue is my preference. Also, 56001 'Whatley' in pristine Construction Sector grey please (first one I saw in that livery!).
  15. Absolutely - though, to be fair, the realism of these 'toys' places them right up there in highly detailed model territory! We all enjoy modelling for a wide range of reasons... taking our minds off other distressing things in life, to feel a sense of achievement in making something, to turn our memories into physical form to treasure them, especially as we forget more and more we as get older. I just couldn't believe the emotion it had on me when it made me remember happy times with my Dad - good things!
  16. I have just tried out my 56008 in BR blue, with sound... oh my word, what a sound!!! I can honestly say without exaggeration that it took me right back to days being taken down the line by my late Dad in the 70's/80's and seeing 56s pass by on MGR coal trains. The model has such a deep and realistic sound, especially that whistling turbo, that it literally had me on the edge of tears remembering those precious times with my Dad. Thank you so much Cavalex and the team for an outstanding model, helping me recall such deep emotional memories. Keep it up, future orders guaranteed - including the Class 60.
  17. I've not had time to fully read the thread but noted you mentioned diodes in reverse across the LEDs... If I read this right, I suspect this has been done to limit the reverse voltage the LED sees during back-emf surges. Some LEDs have breakdown voltages in the order of just 5V in reverse (the forward voltage depends on the colour - for very electronic reasons!). Back emf voltages may be significantly higher, especially if there is nowhere for the inductively driven current to go. Consequently, an LED could take the 'hit' if the surrounding circuit does not prevent it from happening in the first place. This 'hit' could well cause damage to the device - the higher the voltage, the more power dissipating damage it can cause. Now, please NOTE that I am not saying the manufacturer has in any way used a poor circuit... in fact it sounds like quite the opposite if I understood the observation right and it was for this reason and certainly one I applaud! I just offer the above comments to help people understand a possible cause for LEDs failing (in any model...), though this may not be the cause of any issues people may be having with this specific model. Aside, the model looks great to me and it's wonderful to know that a 4mm:4mm one exists at Didcot Railway Centre to see in real life too. Well done Kernow for tackling such an interesting vehicle!
  18. Superb news - I really like unusual and special liveries, so this is definitely one for the GBRf range! Just one question, though I am sure it's goes without saying, are both powered? Another manufacturer have done Powered + Dummy pair packs before... and I couldn't see it in the details (excuse me if I missed it - probably just time of day when checking/writing this). Great stuff! Ixion.
  19. Just opened my GBRf Railtour Twin Pack... no chance to run them tonight but looking at the box, packaging, manual / info booklet and general appearance and presentation - WOW! I am really impressed. The models look great and certainly firmly supported in their holders within the foam lining. Only having seen images of the box beforehand, I was wondering if it would be thin and weaker than other suppliers but no... very firmly put together. To top it all, a superb image of both locos adorns the front cover. A quick look through the manual and my only suggestion to Cavalex may be to make the lighting diagrams more clear - seeing which lights were on and off on the small 56 cab fronts was a bit tricky but not impossible. Only a minor issue though as I'm sure there'll be so much enjoyment to be had seeing them lit when I get to run them. Cavalex have definitely done a great job and judging from one or more YouTube videos, especially the MGR train on an incline, will justify every penny spent on these models and who knows, maybe a few more pennies! Cheers, Ixion.
  20. Should be - the analogue GBRf Railtour twin pack is ~£379*. (* retail price, not e-bay pricing that is!)
  21. Thanks JSpencer. I normally would do that but I was expecting a delivery imminently but not sure if it would be delivered Saturday or Monday... turns out it was Monday, today. Saturday could have been difficult due to some issues at home, but as it was gone closing time, just wondered if anyone knew if there was another way to find out as the web-bot was no help at all! I very much appreciate your response though - and the package was something to do with Cavalex!!
  22. Ditto - I ordered a pair on Tuesday from a big retailer and they were dispatched today (so the e-mail says...)... Having seen the photos on Wednesday I placed another order but no sign of that order being dispatched yet. I expect they are inundated with order dispatches, so happy to wait a while. Have to admit, if they had arrived sooner, the shop may have got richer, quicker!!!
  23. Hi, I am hoping someone may already know the answers to this... I placed a RoS Pre-Order online recently and as usual received an order number in the form WEB-xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxx. Today, I received (two...) dispatch e-mails saying the items were on their way - so far, great! The e-mail says the order was sent by Parcel Force but no tracking number was provided. So... I went back to the RoS Account Pre-Order section and as you might expect, the WEB-xx... entry number had disappeared. However, when I checked the Orders section, it was not there either.... I then used the 'Chat' option, opted to 'Track my order...' (or similar), to which the bot replied that the WEB-xx... number was not a valid order number. Without the Courier tracking number, I don't know what day or when the item is arriving (other than likely a few days...). Additionally, I have no way to contact the Courier firm and arrange a delivery change, should that be necessary. TWO questions: 1. Is there a way to see dispatched Pre-Order details within the Account pages? 2. Is there a way to determine a Courier tracking number from the Accounts page? EDIT: Regarding the Courier tracking number, I received a text from Parcel Force a while after commenting, though it would be handy to list it in the RoS confirmation e-mail (if possible). Still curious to know if completed Pre-Orders are visible somewhere in the Accounts pages... can someone advise? Note - not an unhappy customer, just asking advice from others. Thanks, Ixion.
  24. ... and now showing many in stock again.
