  1. I’ve seen some videos of the Heljan L&B locos running and they do seem to be a bit “jerky” or at least not so smooth slow running, oddly all my 00 Heljan locos are faultless and some of the best runners.
  2. I’m not sure inclines make it realistic, interesting more likely but on the prototype inclines to the observer are virtually imperceptible, now I know somebody will post a heavily compressed telephoto shot of a railway incline that looks obvious 🤣 But viewing from lineside it’s hard to know which way an incline is going! I’ve got inclines on my N gauge Japanese layout, but that’s because in Japan raised rail track is all too common, and very obvious especially in cities.
  3. You could make them view it from further away and provide Opera Glasses 🤣
  4. I’ve seen some quite poor layouts TBH, but I know absolutely that they are the best the builder could achieve and rightly proud of them, so I still enjoy viewing them.
  5. You didn’t? Must be just for us special members then 😆
  6. You’d really get p****d off with my layout then, nice flat baseboard and sectional ballasted track 🤣 But you see, without those two important features I would never have been able to build (probably) my last layout.
  7. I said that before but it doesn’t stop any genuine observations being jumped on, I like Hornby models, I have more than anything else and not one of their diesels is a bad runner in fact some are among the best I have, but they (Hornby) do tend to fall down on silly things that should never get through. If Hornby’s TT120 couplings are as good in practice as Tillig designed I’ll be buying the models and a better coupling will be high on the list of reasons. Lets wait and see what genuine off the line products turn out like.
  8. Well if the view is at 45 degrees the gap between them should look smaller, it doesn’t.
  9. The last ten seconds is running on the straight.
  10. Pretty sure Paul Whitehouse wasn’t in Slade either 🤣
  11. Yes, it was about the sectional track the previous thread comment.
  12. They look much further mounted back than the 08 pictures, and interesting to see the kinematic system also.
  13. I think everyone agrees with that 🤣
  14. Must admit I did think those flanges looked a lot finer than those in some publicity shots. Proof is in the eating, as they say…….get those knives and forks out.
  15. Actually yes your correct, well I certainly do hope they couple as close as the Tillig vehicles do, that’ll be great.
  16. I don’t know why you say a valid discussion about new couplings on the U.K. market is tiresome, but if Hornby trucks and coaches couple as close as that I’ll be the first to buy more than just a few! Just compare your own photos with the one above of the two 08 coupled together, no difference at all 🤣
  17. I don’t think it is the actual size of the couplings I have an issue with, looking at that video demonstrating the “new” Tillig coupling they look great, and couple very closely which is even better, the pivot point of the hook is at the buffer beam position, but looking at those two 08 coupled together the gap between them is more than I think I have seen on standard Hornby couplings. It appears Hornby have decided to mount them too far out from the body. Anyway I don’t want to upset anyone so yes let’s leave it there and wait u til they are on peoples track.
  18. I am not so sure Hornby have mounted them that far under the body.
  19. It wasn’t this actual picture of the 08 that I first had issues with, in fact it looks a bit better on the 08 because of the extra detail it sort of disguises it, and also if with this particular coupling you can still have the buffer beam detail that’s a plus I think, but seeing the coupling on a bare end really stands out.
  20. That does look very nice, but I still have a problem with the size of the coupling, really dominates the area. But not the end of the world, unless of course those couplings (has anyone identified them as other proprietary couplings or a new item from Hornby?) can be “pre-uncoupled” for push shunting, that would be worth having them.
  21. Victors…..that was in my local market, but it was never called Chapel Market, my Nan always just said c’mon we are going up’chap……and off we went, but I seem to remember I wasn’t allowed into Victors because of the shop at the front…..but I was allowed a nice hot sarsaparilla in the winter and if lucky I got a bag of roasted chestnuts, in Summer I had to wait until we got home for a drink, my unfailing memory of up’chap was standing at the open window at sainsburys watching the lady battering the big block of butter into 1/2lb blocks and wrap in grease poof paper before you could blink 😁 When I was a bit older I went to Victors in Pentonville Road but none of the stuff was of much interest to me, no Triang.
