  1. P&C = Points and Crossings (really Switches and Crossings !!) - as in the track plan would different for a through station rather than a terminus It's not that I dislike the box, it's just too Eastern looking for Wales - yes the Bachmann LNWR would be a good replacement, although it can stand some work as it's a hybrid between a Type 4 and a Type 5 but it's still an LNWR looking cabin, a very good start point.
  2. You could always add partial third rail electrification, as per Chester, and assume some sort of PTE service ? If you do go down the modify route might be time to make that signal box more North Western Many years I was involved in a layout which worked very well as a terminus, after we had "blasted the platforms through", the enthusiasm waned, it was no longer the same - if, a big if, you decide to go roundy-roundy then I would be tempted to rethink the station, not least because the P&C for a terminal is different from a through station (which is a partial problem, to me, on our Charlotte Road but we are getting rid of that anyway ) hth
  3. The original MHA had the wrong number of ribs Rav
  4. Been discussed several times, the mods have locked one or two duplicate threads - search works here too
  5. A pleasant few hours was spent at the cabin yesterday, in the company of some guests ( = friends) from the Merseyside club. We are frequently in the cabin so anyone is welcome, by prior arrangement just in case we are out and about. After the guys had left I snapped a couple of photos of the REX Fastline 66/3s (and a car train which was passing, again taken with the cheap snappy so no real depth of field but still give the ideas for some interesting possible shots. No details have been added to the 66/3s yet - they have been fully tested before the knife comes out. Next weekend I will be adding the buffer beam details and then we will be sorting out (thanks to Big Jim and Pete Harvey) the depot transfers but more of that in the future. Called on into the bay An unusual visitor to the scrap yard ! The signalbox cat watches the 66/3 trundle past - he's going to be annoyed when he realises the box has been abolished and there won't be anymore food for him ! The box had a panel fitted many years ago and so the run outs have all been removed (honest guvnor) Hot air balloons are handy for those hard to reach shots. Like buses - you wait for ages and then two turn up. With a bit of photoshopping to add a background (and a level camera !) one for the real / model thread maybe. Another view I quite like, multiple focus points combined to give a good depth of field would make this a good view (in my opinion) and this maybe and this Flashback to pre DRS days. Of course Buddy wanted to help ...
  6. Have you looked in the first edition of the Quail track plans book ?
  7. There were a lot of people on the bridge photographing it ! - the camera shutters weren't as overpowering as I had feared. 70001 hasn't worked a train yet and is restricted to 40mph at the moment. 70002 worked an infrastructure last week (also restricted to 40mph), video on YouTube I believe.
  8. The beast in action ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0AvhHSxJdQ
  9. Cheers, The G.C HST is an excursion - Sunderland - Liverpool Lime Street
  10. Hi Mike, Glad the resolution arrived - untouched by human hand It will be on here - rather than a mag I suspect, don't think Mr T has taken any pics I will point him to your filthy shots Cheers - good to see you, sorry I got way laid talking about magazine articles B)
  11. If anyone noticed - on the S4 stand at Warley we (well Mike T was) were doing some improvements to these wagons, if you didn't then you will have to wait for the article
  12. Looking at the positive as mentioned by CK - it's designed for Freightliners needs not for our eye candy. Managed to get my first shots of it on a gloomy Saturday morning (21 November 2009), prior to Warley, passing Water Orton as 0Z70, 09:04, Lawley Street - Leeds Midland Road (running 30 late) - off for a naming ceremony. B)
  13. Typical, heard the Shenker liviered 66 was at Widnes today, and as I arrived it was heading off (Could do with a bit of work on the sky really)
  14. As some may have noticed from my status updates I've been a bit under the weather this week so had an easy time whilst up at the facility and snapped a few photos of some 66s Note the DBS and the Bardon were undergoing running in without a decoder fitted so the lights are not correctly displayed at all times, I eventually switched off the tail lights when I remembered http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoqEx0gKRmo and whilst doing this I was testing the Grand Central HST http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mJf1wHRrQ8

    The Devil Incarnate?

I'm suprised it took you so long, found this weeks ago Does he have permission to use your image
  16. Apparently they are not yet cleared for running on the network so testing will start next week (hopefully), same times as my hint above, Walsall might be somewhere worth a visit - allegedly.
  17. If I wanted a pic I might consider the WCML or feeder between Lawley Street and Crewe tomorrow or Friday around 13:00 - 13:30 at Crewe (rev) - allegedly, thanks to anon but don't shoot if plans change.
  18. 66 en route to get them from Newport (docks), then off to Bristol - let the frothing begin.
  19. Not sure this posting really helps any points you might be making Jon. At the moment the MCA/MDA from Dapol is the only one available, in RTR form, this means that some people are going to use them, improved or otherwise, mocking those people that choose to do so does not actually improve the model and frankly is not something you should be doing. We spent a long time getting the MBAs (Hurst kits) done, at this moment we cannot spend the time to get a rake of Hurst MCA/MDAs done to the same standard, so, for the time being, we are "happy" (lose term) to use the Dapol ones - I assume this means Widnes is now not worth looking at in your opinion, never mind, if you think that close examination of the stock is important rather than the scene looking like a real railway then you probably wouldn't be too keen on some of the other stock anyway HOWEVER as I said in my first posting on the subject "Things could be better" - I am disappointed in the model myself. We offered assistance, and are not far away from the factory, cannot do more than that other than be saddened that we weren't involved and could have pointed out these faults at a much earlier stage.
  20. I too am awaiting the Bachmann one ... maybe enquiring if any parts are available as spares too ..
  21. I've supplied photos in the past and indicated I am happy to do so again - not much more I can do really, I have lots of detail photos of MBAs for example.
  22. The loads are some scrap I bought from ebay a good while ago, basically a bloke cuts up all his left over sprues, bits etc. and paints them rusty, then sells them by weight, I bought a good healthy load whilst I could, the scrap cubes come from the same place - can't remember where I'm afraid, it was a few years back.
  23. Ta Danny, we are at Crewe in January for the Cheshire show, come along, say hello and have a play.
  24. Hi Craig, yes they are the same wagon, the most obvious differences are the bogies and the height, although the height is only obvious when the rakes are mixed and matched, a full rake of one or the other would be ok. Not sure which is correct though, don't assume it's the Hurst one.
