  1. As Keith says - photos of the box, yes, but nothing of the clearance bars - and it shut in 1973.
  2. Staffs, The bar associated with an FPL is on the approach to the toe of a point, the bar prevents the FPL being returned as a vehicle literally stops the bar raising and thus locks the lever. A clearance bar, as Stationmaster has said, is a similar device in its operation but is not connected with a FPL - at Hooton North for example there were bars withing the double junction to prevent the signalman accidentally changing the points with vehicles on them. hth
  3. Fouling/detection bars are not necessarily the same thing as facing point bar.
  4. They don't look too bad - apart from that droopy one
  5. I have a photo of the real 40106 (before repaint) at Llandudno Junction - maybe time for another dig around my archives ?
  6. I know - thats what I said but in a gentle way
  7. That was exactly what I thought when I first heard them - and why I recorded them so others could hear too B)
  8. Some vids of 37s with Pete Harveys sound box mod http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/295-Bachmann-37-sound/page__p__6949entry6949 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsC81mImUKM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0A2DDU-wNI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKxk5GAyO-4
  9. He said (Mainline) so I assumed 60011, I was imagining he would have said sky blue if it had been 074 but I guess unless you know the 60 colours then blue is blue.
  10. Are you sure ? - I thought Appleby was the last and I believe thats gone.
  11. As as has been said the lever is normally reversed to lock the point, after the point has been set in the correct position, locking with the lever normal is uncommon (compared with the number that were locked by reverse) and typically was used at double junctions with movable angles (switch diamonds) to lock the "facing" parts of the angle. Block regs require all points to be set and locked ... If you like, you could post the plan for comment
  12. Here's a couple of mine .. 19 July 1977, 40111 at Llandudno 24087 in Llandudno Junction (ex carriage) shed
  13. I think we were generalising the commodities carried rather than specifying all the flows they were used on - I was anyway
  14. What makes you think Angel trains (or any other ROSCo) would want to buy 60s ? - it makes absolutely no sense for them to take a run down, non standard loco which, in its present state, is unreliable and would require investment to get it back on track - enthusiasts glasses ?
  15. Add flyash from Drax - Gascoigne Wood
  16. Here's part of the original drawing for Woodside (BR) The originals (ca 1930) are exquisite but some of the amendments and/or BR replacements are poorly drawn. The drawings are too large for the scanner and need lots of hands to keep it safe, there's only me here at the moment so I've scanned the important bit.
  17. Is this for a serious project or just a musing ? - for musings the Godfrey maps show a fair amount of detail, if you are seriously interested then I will take the time to get the plan to here, I only ask because I notice you are also enquiring about South Wales
  18. Pete, This might be of interest http://www.gcrauctions.com/sale127/lot157.html
  19. Nice PoW there Pete B) Remember Llandudno box has been refurbished and it's current state is not blue diesel state.
  20. The little grey box is the power pack. The crank is a back drive to ensure gauge through the switch. Each yellow box contains a pump motor which drives the blades over, valves control the actions, so basically the left hand unit would drive the blades the way they are positioned in the photo, when the blades needs to be reversed the right hand unit drives, the valve on the left is open which allows the fluid to return to the reservoir and the blades move. It's slightly more complicated due to detection etc. but in essence thats what happens. The first few seconds of this video show the same points in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2pAW2zKZJM hth
