Fantastic! Now, can you do me one? B)

Aren't many words I can add - such fine detail, care and attention, presentation...it all adds up to an extremely inspirational model!

ooh, I've always wanted a 500 series, but never could think of a way to justify it runing on the WCML!

Thanks for the comments guys!
The layout wont be an exact copy of this, but will use many elements. The right hand side will be much more city centre-ish.
The real Canal St I know rather well, and I'm hoping to fit in a small homage to that actual location somewhere (a neon rainbow pub sign anyone?)
And I will be selling my OO sound stock as I'm definately concentrating on N only now, so in the end there will only be 2 layouts here at home, though possibly 3 if I ever get round to doing the small DLR layout.
I do need to get some of the Kato trams, they are a bit short, but will livery up quite well into the new yellow Metrolink livery.

Love it! When they bring out their ICE3 model in T gauge, I am seriously considering doing something similar and reliverying it to make my HS2 model - all those flying junctions around Birmingham, to scale, on a small base board!

Wins the award for best control panel ever! I really do love the level of detail you are putting into the presentation of the layout!

Hi Stephen, I'll be keen to see how the 323 comes out!
Ring Road stands upright in a cupboard - the 'outer' ends sit on the floor, with the 2 boards facing each other to create a box. They are fine just loose, but for extra safety, a simple latch on the side would make them rock solid.

Hi Tom,
You could get away just using a tubular plastistrut section, but if you want to get the angles, rubbing the same tube against some very harsh sand paper might file down the sides to flat edges?

Well Ive managed to track down some better photos of the air con units, and have produced some decals that have added some more definition to the roof, but still nothing on the pantograh well. Its evidently a rarely photographed angle!

Thanks guys!
I'd like to add some decals for the air con units, but have found it hard to get decent pictures of them, as soon as I stumble across some, I'll give it a go - same with the pantograph well details. Rather than imagine something, I'll wait until I get good images of them. Ive used the MRI issue on the Desiros for a lot of reference, but that sadly focuses on the 3rd rail version more, so not many images of the roof.

Beautiful! Every scene is a work of art on its own, realy is very inspirational!

Thanks guys, the bodyshell is vacuum formed, with a mix of paint and waterslide decals for the livery. A bit rough round the edges, but first time ive used that construction method!

Thanks! The 350 was the big missing item really, other than the 390 - which Dapol may one day actually bring out as promised, if not that will be the next big project!
Other than that, really want to figure out how to motorise the MPV and get that going!

Hi Tom, I did the entire body shells, so each one simply drops onto the chassis
David

Thanks Jim, managed to get a better shaped body thanks to the wonders of vacuum forming

Breathtaking Tom, really looks great! The flag and developer's fencing looks spot on!

Really captures the style of building - superb! Look forward to seeing this on the layout!

Do please keep the ideas coming!
I'm thinking of all the unusual options before deciding, but certainly the HST New Measurement Train would be eye-catching, and something like a load of newly refurbished tube stock being hauled back to London, or a Capitalstar behind a barrier vehicle...
David

Yikes, that looks incredible! What did you use for the grass - looks very effective.

I had a very rough, stretched version running on a 158 chassis, but this one has proper dimensions, a lot more detailing and a tomix chassis. Hopefully a lot more convincing!
-
A 350 indeed! I think the 3rd rail shoes confused everyone

Does this help? Intermediate coach under construction:

Neither of those numbers! The shoe is important, but rarely used...

but which one?

Thanks all, I'll shoot the 58 on its own later and post a shot. Its noisy, not terrible, but a bit lik some of the better Poole Farish stuff, a class 31 perhaps. Its very low geared, so does make a lot of noise for its speed. I have a gaugemaster controller and it has to run at about 60% to give a decent slow speed for the main line.
My only worry so far is points, its not too keen on a set of points in the fiddle yard, when all the other locos are okay.
