Focus ST's and Ladytron? I think we could have guessed who did those billboards, even if you hadn't told us
Good taste on both counts, BTW!

Class 150, 150143 leaves Crewe on a wet day in 1980.
That unit wasn't built until 1985 or 1986, so I think those pictures were wither 1986, or 87.

They're both Sealions - the Seacow was the welded variant and I think they were all delivered in the yellow/grey paint scheme.

Nice pictures - definitely not 1978 - 55013 got the white handrails on the nose in May1980 so it is certainly after that. My guess would be 1981. If I'm correct the first Class 50 in Large Logo was 023 in August 1980 - some Class 50 expert will know when 50038 got the Large Logo colours....
I'm not an expert, but 50038 was refurbished in November 1980 and 50022 was refurbished in December 1980, so best guess for both of those photos is the spring of 1981.

Is this the three spires railtour?
I don't know, but it's definitely a GFYE Met Camm DMU!

A lot went to Eastleigh; I wonder if they went to the plastics plant next to Fawley?
Possibly, but I would have thought that Methanol would have been available from the refinery next door - IIRC it's made as a part of some refining processes. I can't think of anywhere else that would have had it in trainload quantities though.

Love the Ferry Tank! Just my kind of thing B)

I'll be honest and say that I didn't read the video description at all, so was just going with my ears! Thanks for your interest.
You are quite correct, these sounds are not from a Sentinel. The Rolls-Royce engines are much quieter. I wanted something with a bit of impact for this demo only. It is not intended to be authentic, I thought that was clear from the You Tube description. I'll check and amend if necessary, thanks.
Cool! That will be just the thing for my Judith Edge one, when I get round to building it, hopefully later this year. It's just a diesel sound project I loaded onto a decoder quickly to demonstrate that sound could be added to this diminutive model, though the horn is infact from a Sentinel.
I have recordings from several Sentinels of different types so I will be working up a better representation shortly. That is what will be in the next video and the sound project from Digitrains.

Here's a short video of the new Hornby Sentinel to which I have added a ZIMO sound decoder and speaker.
It's just the first 'rush' and I've not displayed any of the ancillary sounds, like windscreen wipers, wagon buffering etc.
Suffice to say the project has many of the sounds associated with these locos and their typical applications.
Paul
Out of interest, if you don't mind telling me, which loco was the sound recorded from, please? It might just be me, but the engine doesn't sound as refined as I remember them.
This video (from 09:27 onwards) captures the sound that I remember quite well:
Edit - Are the gearbox direction change noises a part of the project?

it will be ours to enjoy the way we want it .
And that is the most important thing 8)
Look forward to seeing what you get up to Phil! Edit - whatever happened to Bodge City?

The only unknown element for me is how to do a calm sea. I never do that before and I have seen many techniques on internet. The key factor of success for this layout is the sea. I'm a little lost so if you can help me ?
There's some good stuff about creating harbour water here, and for a few posts afterwards:

I've seen it in the flesh and it is very effective.

I don't think it looks overdone, I've seen canals that choppy on a windy day, or if a boat has gone through a little fast recently. To disguise the subsidence it had another layer last night which I tried to get some texture into to disguise it but it looks a little overdone from this angle.

It closed much later than that, it was certainly still going in the late '90's. Wikipedia (I know) has the date down as 2003 when it finally closed.Mention has also been made earlier in this thread of Huntsman Ales - these were from the Eldridge Pope brewery at Dorchester which closed sometime in the early 1980s I believe.

Not much more than you, other than the weight diagram and Paul's photos, there doesn't seem to be much about these wagons out there. I have got something that will be of some use to you, though, there's a pm on the way shortly.Do you know much about the wagons? I couldn't find any pics of the wagons from above so had to do some guess work from Paul Bartlett ground level pics.

Loving the Phosphoric Acid tank, those were (are) on my to-do list

IIRC Pugsley is working on an etched kit.
Don't let that stop you, it's going to be some considerable time before that sees the light of day at this rate!

Actually, it being the other way round makes perfect sense. Someone from a cottage industry would be producing something as they have an interest in it, so will know what they're looking at. A larger company could be using a contract CAD technician, who is presented with a load of dimensions and photographs to create a 3D model from, but wouldn't necessarily know what they are looking at, let alone have an interest in it.
I know from my own experience that mistakes can creep in, but I've spotted most of them by looking closely at the 3d model, because I know and understand what I'm looking at.
