Why do RB (and AM) have to attend?

Because one of their cars also repeatedly breached track limits at turn 6.

Of course it's now been swept under the carpet by the FIA, no retrospective penalties. I wonder why? ........

Looks like, due to an admin error  (possibly mine) I will not be attending the show (no accommodation  booked). A shame and I just hope all the other admin required to get the show to be successful goes more smoothly.

The dongles are being extensively tested by the development and test teams and as has been said that while they are working well (even tested in an exhibition environment) there are a couple of small glitches and suggested improvements that are being fettled.

Maybe my last post ended up being put up using the Special Invisible Ink that can be quite prevalent on here so I'm told 😉

correct me if im wrong please

when i get the dongle and set the app up,  will i then have to put F0 lights F1 engine  F3 horn etc,  in my self or will they just work when i press F1  on my tablet / phone?

At the moment you have to set up the functions manually. What I have done is save a default set of functions and then import the profile for each loco added to the dongle. It's then easier to edit anything that is decoder specific.

    Did it work OK?

Is there an update as to the possible release date please?

Yes and no, there's one issue that has already been fixed in the app, but the development version is only on apple and I had my Xperia with me. Apart from that it worked really well, allowed me to control my plain vanilla dcc locos as well as the HM7000 equipped pug.

As a result of my testing there are a couple of app improvements that have been suggested too.

No firm date on the release of the dongle yet though. Not much longer so we have been told

F27 - TXS supports dynamic brake? That's interesting.

Can you re-map functions with this? Surely it would be better to shove it on the same function as the braking sound & allow it to be varied by CV. Is that a little too much to ask from what is still a much cheaper decoder than a Zimo or ESU?

oh for function mapping 😉 I think they are fed up of me raising this on the beta test chat 🤣

    Handy to know.

There is a lot which analogue chips won't do that DCC will: proper coasting, controllable acceleration/deceleration/braking, consisting. TXS will not do the lot & that is what keeps the cost lower than an ESU or Zimo.

Indeed Pete. Coasting is possible though by setting the deceleration momentum to a very high value and then using the brake key (F27) to stop the loco when you want. It's not ideal if you are operating in DCC mode on say a Powercab as at least 3 button presses are needed to activate F27 .... If you have a more modern DCC system that allows for button reconfiguration then it's less of a problem
