    Hi,

I've got two of these plus a C2 next on my list to build once I've finished a batch of 2 x E1 and a D1 all from Albion kits....

An observation - the tender on your kit looks to be different around the footplate level from the one in mine - I must have a look and check.......

    Hi Richard,

It may well be as this was just an out of the box build as the custimer just wanted a model of the loco thta he rembered seeing most of the time where he lived.

  2. HI DonB,

Many thanks for your infomation and kind comments.

Its always nice to know what the proper term for them is, with regards you question about the feet, the feet are made up of two parts, the foot (thats what im calling it) which has small fold up sides and then there is a small corner bit which i have soldered in to the foot and then soldered that to the basket.

I had tried superglue but they kept coming off so it was a bit of burning fingers time.

  3. Hi Richard,

had a quick look at the blog. Some cracking pictures and having been past the site numerous times the layout is spot on. Can't wait to see it fully finished.

Look forward to seeing your photos, ive got another couple to do fo customers and then i can finally get round to doing mine along with a couple (rakes worth) of the hoppers.

    Cheers

    Simon

  4. Hi Richard,

I've been following the blog for ages and i am looking forward to seeing the layout out at shows.

The main problem with the pumps brackets is that they don't follow the shape of the bolier, form looking at photos they seam to follow the curve more and thus sit further back in line with the cabs.

I will be interested to see the results of your brass ones when you make them, as i have made some replacement ones out of plasticard as the set i had was missing them on another model which was a pain.

    Cheers

    Simon

  5. Hi Richard,

Many thanks for your question, is it the South Pelaw layout that has the blog?

The pumps are the Dave Alexander ones, the only thing I have done is filed the bottom so that they are virtually flat and also the handrail section were they are located has been moved up, as per reference photos.

    Hope this helps?

    Cheers

    Simon

  6. Hi Halfwit,

Many thanks for you comments. I have to agree that it's not the easiest kit to build when you have to cut a side off, reposition it and then cut the base floor of the hoppers so the side is correct.

I think the problem with the body may be down to the designer/drawer of the etch art work making the body too tall and too long after all I wouldn't be surprised after having to do the mod above with the floor.

I worked from a book that the customer provided, the name of which escapes me with some very good photos and information in it.

  7. Hi Keith,

I am sorry about not seeing your comment till now.

On this loco i used T-cut with a cotton bud, with the only pressure used is the weight of the bud resting on the side to provide the working area for the t-cut to work.

I takes a while to do but as you have found it is really easy to go through the paint.

Hope this helps for the future

    Cheers

    Simon

  8. HI Richard,

The loco 92099 was an odd one as it didn't have the full width step under the smoke box door, it still had the normal two small steps.

I knew the wagons ran as a 9 car set but didnt know about the spare wagon. As they say you learn something new everyday.

    cheers

    Simon

  9. These look splendid work-horses, and the Westinghouse pumps give a special 'character'.

I've seen many strange things growing out of locomotive chimneys but that curly thing is the strangest yet :)

That's what having to give up the spare room to visiting guests dose to you when you cant use the normal shelf for picky taking.
