  1. Rabbits were having a comfy evening yesterday, it seemed: Though Trude is much more frequently cleaning Albert's fur than he does hers!
  2. Or dynamite. Everything goes quicker with it. Morning all - drinking my first cup of coffee while sat in bed with my laptop. Nothing much to report as of yet, other than it being a calm Sunday morning.
  3. Oh no, I'd rather not. May I suggest putting some fennel in the funnel instead?
  4. Cloaking the cloakroom might help with that!
  5. May I invite everyone for a game of cabbage?
  6. And residents of Brussels came up with delightful sprouts.
  7. So are mine, but I cannot think of any way I might be rationing them!
  8. I never started or even just tried smoking and am a very restrained consumer of alcohol, too. I do sometimes treat myself to a sip of whiskey, brandy or the like on weekend nights. However, after having suffered a hangover from hell following a New Year party a few years ago, I never tried getting drunk again!
  9. Thinking of you, Don – I'm sorry for your loss. Peaceful as your FiL's passing may have been, it still means a beloved person has gone, which cannot ever be easy...
  10. Morning all... Feeling in the ropes as I didn't sleep that well. Neither did SWMBO, so I won't wake her up before ten. Will check back in later.
  11. I just remembered my classical Latin... Veni, vidi, vici: I came, I saw, I conquered.
  12. Morning all... Looking wet and gloomy outside, but thankfully, I seem to be getting rid of that cold. I don't have any hair-raising stories about folks lifting equipment from company premises or getting onto same with unusual means, sadly – or thankfully, depending on how you look at it! TGIF indeed, though I'll yet have to put some finishing touches on this last paper I'm working on. The way things look, I shall finish it by formulating a question which I believe may merit further discussion, but which I cannot completely answer at this time as there would be arguments both in favour and against it.
  13. Wildlife in the garden... first, a squirrel: ...followed by a woodpecker: Taken at maximum lens zoom, so apologies for graininess.
  14. Pete, I'd also much prefer some decent snow and frost to the dreichness we're having today! Quite depressing to be looking out the window and see the wet countryside with dense mist overhead...
  15. Morning all... Still battling this sniffle, so my tea consumption has taken a dramatic rise. I also learned that one of the papers – hopefully really one of the last I ever had to write now – I had submitted in autumn has got an A grade, and was well pleased by that! Enjoy your day, everyone!
  16. Those who'd be deserving of it do not live anywhere near me, unfortunately!
  17. Morning all... Just below 2°C outside, but too dark to see much of anything. However, listening outside revealed that the world appears to be awakening from its New Year slumber. I'm having the first cup of coffee for the morning and am wondering what else to do to get rid of that sniffle, which is annoying... Enjoy your day!
  18. In today's news, I read how a private New Year party almost ended in disaster when the company of eleven decided to have an indoor barbecue, resulting in them suffering carbon monoxide poisoning which turned several of the guests unconscious. Thankfully, somebody was able to alert the fire brigade in time, so that no-one was permanently harmed. Still, it boggles the mind...
  19. The rabbits don't seem too impressed by the new year and prefer to be munching some fennel:
  20. What I can say about 2013 thus far is that the weather's rather gloomy and unappealing! Everything's fairly quiet outside at this time, too, and the burned-out rocket count in the garden is just two thus far.
  21. Happy New Year, folks! May it be free of trouble and pain for all of us. I wonder how many burned-out rocket shells I'll be finding in the garden later on!
  22. I personally prefer ibuprofen as I never felt paracetamol to have much of an effect.
  23. Morning all... I seem to have contracted another sniffle. Humph... Nothing much to report as of yet – thankfully, we got all our purchases for New Year done on Saturday. Shops will be open till about 2 pm today and I wonder how much we'll be seeing in terms of firework. Of course, the usual collection of numpties that's been blasting firecrackers early in the morning has been out already, too.
  24. Morning all... Blustery outside with a fairly threatening cloud cover to match, but since I'm inside with a cup of coffee, I don't mind. Should make launching rockets rather interesting, assuming the wind will last till New Year's Eve!
