  1. That'd be much of what I guess you would have to pay for a RTR UK outline loco!
  2. Morning all... I'll be off to the bakery in a few moments, but need to finish my coffee first. Quite balmy outside and I was pleased that the drive back home yesterday was uneventful. SWMBO needs some handicraft stuff, so I think we'll be looking for that later today. I wonder if the Romans would have considered that as an Omen of the God of Silicon...
  3. Morning all... Don, let me just say I continue hoping for the best possible outcome – not much else that I think I could say, really. Mike, good to hear you results were all right and that medical practices can yet be a place of unexpected humour! Looking windy outside and it would appear to have turned quite nippy, too – just in time for our drive home later today. However, it's supposed to be back to being balmy over New Year. I survived a round of shopping with the ladies yesterday, so I guess there's little left that should be able to rattle me!
  4. Thinking of you, Don. There never is a "right" time for this to occur, but Christmas must be one of the wrongest...
  5. Morning all! Full again after last night's dinner, so I already wonder what'll be on the menu today... It's quite windy outside and about 8°C, and no winter weather in sight for the time being. Enjoy your day, everyone!
  6. Morning all... I guess I overate last night as I didn't sleep all that well, unfortunately. And I guess I'll be doing so again tonight when goose will be on the menu. Hope you all enjoyed your day yesterday and will do so again today. Though I understand the Boxing Day sales can be a nightmare! We do have another day of reprieve over here as both the 25th and 26th are public holidays.
  7. Very much like here, Ian. We've been out in the country with Charlie the beagle who was very fond of digging up molehills, though without finding anything. It's been drizzling for more than an hour now and been windy almost all day, too.
  8. I'm sure there'll be so many Christmas wishes on here over the course of the day that I'd just like to post a collective, pre-emptive "like" to them all and continue to wish you all a wonderful holiday. I'll now need to familiarise myself with inputting handwritten text through this Wacom tablet which I was given, though!
  9. Morning all! Hope you all are having a peaceful time – it's certainly quiet outside here in Leipzig, far as I can tell. That's one thing I rather enjoy about Christmas...the world seeming to slow down from its usual quick and sometimes overwhelmingly fast pace. I also hope you'll all be finding a nice pile of presents under the tree, of course!
  10. Just taking a break from the round table, so I'd like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and wonderful holidays. Especially to all of you who've been under the weather this year in one way or another!
  11. Morning all... Still looking wet outside and it was so balmy we could, in fact, leave the window ajar over night. Turns out we do need another few foodstuffs, but FiL has yet to surface. I'll be getting me a cuppa coffee now in any case!
  12. We'll be having goose for dinner on the 25th, but tomorrow we shall be limiting ourselves to some tapas, salads and bread. We'll also be exchanging presents tomorrow (which is commonly done on Christmas Eve over here). I didn't have anything modelling-related on my list, but will most likely make a suitable purchase after Christmas!
  13. Morning all! I definitely feel for all of those who may be affected by flooding – certainly nothing you need around Christmas (and at no other time of the year either, of course). It's currently wet and dreich outside, but I don't think it will be amounting to quite the same proportions as in parts of the UK. The trip yesterday went fairly well, too – especially as we didn't encounter any traffic jams. It would seem a sufficient number of holiday travellers did realise they have an entire weekend to spread their journey across instead of all going the same day.
  14. Morning all... Foggy and dreich outside, which is really turning depressing. I'd much prefer a blanket of snow across the land – makes things so much brighter even if the sun's not shining! Presents are packed, so as soon as SWMBO is up and ready, we'll be ready to roll. Enjoy your day, guys and gals!
  15. I was told DHL here in Germany are doing an additional day of deliveries this Sunday so as to be able to handle the flood of Christmas parcels. Can't say whether any other carriers will be doing the same, though.
  16. Yeah, those are odd but interesting little critters, Ian. I take it you're working on a French-themed layout or are preparing for one, then? I'm actually intending to re-establish my French model section, too!
  17. Morning all! All ready for the end of the world? It's been snowing since about 9 pm, but as we're slightly above freezing, it looks mostly wet and slushy. I shall be stopping by at my school later this morning as we got an end of year party scheduled for the staff. I'll also need to start packing our suitcase for our Christmas trip. Enjoy your day, everyone...
  18. I'm sure I'll be asking myself the same thing when we head east on Saturday as our forecast predicts wet and balmy conditions over the weekend. Though to be fair, too many folks drive like demons with lights on and with no rain, too...
  19. There are far too many motorists around nowadays who I am having the impression are oblivious to them having been thus!
  20. I shall be singing that on my way to work on the first day after the Christmas break!
  21. Mornin'... Ew. Past seven and I still feel like I could sleep another two or three hours. I guess that's telling me I do need a break... Need to post off a parcel before about 11, as that's when the pickup is at our post office. Enjoy your day, everyone!
  22. How did you manage to put that in the context of SUVs? Though to be serious, a few days ago, I read a news article describing how cars getting ever so slightly bigger are facing an increasing amount of space problems in parking garages and parking lots which were built in a time when SUVs and similarly large cars were not around yet.
  23. My driving lessons were on a run-of-the-mill VW Golf, which I am having the impression continues to be the favourite car for driving schools here in Germany. However, I keep noticing an increase in SUVs specifically being used for driver training, with estates, in my impression, also appearing with increasing frequency. I am still not completely sure what to make of this, but I do recognise how it might be sensible to be training drivers on large cars from the beginning, as I believe you could argue that this might instil them with the proper respect for handling high-powered and (relatively) heavy rides.
