  1. I wouldn't bet on that if I were you, LNER has suspended the introduction of the IET's indefinitely on the ECML due to a number of factors that I cannot divulge on here but have been or will be in the railway press soon enough.
  2. It may be seen as an 'antique' to some, but remember that 'Antique' has the TDM and electrical systems that can talk to MK4 coaching stock. and as an aside, how dare you say that something from 1986 is an antique, I come from 1986 and am not an antique!!
  3. My Nan and Grandad blessed me with my first train set, my dad had trains and a layout but this was the first one that was 'mine'. I loved that set and still have the power cars. My set did not include the 'sound tape' that came with some other sets.
  4. there was at least 3 copies in WHSmith Peterborough Tuesday
  5. I have, thanks to a local newsagents, tried all of his copies, not one of the 5 worked at all.
  6. Mine doesnt work either. I phoned the mag and a very helpful Mark sent me internet link to watch it online
  7. Living in the area, I can say the speedway is awesome. well worth a visit if your around one evening.
  8. is the date of release correct? February 1st seems a long way off?
  9. excellent news, I've always like niche wagons, so will have to order a BR one.
  10. will these be available in WH SMiths, like the 50/deltic and 47 ones were?
  11. Possibly not any left that are single ended. As a train would need ground staff to set back out of it again. so on todays performance railway I don't think they'd be viable. I cannot think of any at all.
  12. I think its within the rules. Its inside the cake box which was the brief
  13. hi i have done an web search but i have yet to find anything other than a few pics on flickr. Has anyone on here got any good photos of the Cambridge railway exhibition from September 1990, what im particularly after are pictures of the Nene Valley Railways Hudswell Clarke 1800 Thomas wokring the shuttles on the main line under the wires. as an aside, it also attended an event in boston docks but again, no images appear on line. any help would be great. thanks.
  14. Hi It is a fairly small Industrial loco, it looks much smaller than the RSH class listed above. 1800 Class 'Thomas' as named by the man himself, Rev W Awdry. (picture from google) S100 from chaswater is a very similar 1800 class HC. (picture from google) There are similarities to this beast also.
  15. Its not on the list but a hudswell clarke 1800 class, as in ‘thomas’ at the NVR. Its a loco ive always wanted.
  16. 91119 is currently making its way from Doncaster to Bounds Green with 91130
  17. Thanks for your reply, there's no rush as I've plenty of other things to do. I will keep an eye on your website and on here for updates, cheers
  18. Watch this space, but it wont be 91119
  19. Good morning. I have looked through your website, I can obtain most of what I need, but I have a question, you RTC sets are quite comprehensive, but I cannot find any for 'Cylops'. Will these be in the future at all? once I am completely unpacked from my house move I intend to finish some long drawn out projects and Cyclops is one. I would need this side branding too if possible. (picture copyright Paul Bartlett) Thanks in advance Best regards Dan
  20. Here is a small mod I carried out on some Hornby small radius points. I know Peco make catch points but they can be quite expensive if you need a few. where as second hand Hornby points can be picked up for around £3 to £4 second hand at swap meets, toy fairs or in rummage boxes in model shops. To start with, Using track cutters, cut all the rails just before the check rails, Like this, so you are left with a short point. the top section can be discarded. if you so desire you can tidy up the rail ends and use this as the trap point, or modify further, as below, for one which has less rails. Depending on whether you want curved or straight traps, remove one point blade and associated rail, leaving the spring mechanism in place, like in the pic below. This will allow you to move the points to the 'run off' position, add a fishplate to the rails, you made need to remove a small amount of chair detail with a scalpel blade for the fish plates to fit. I have successfully made and use numerous of these catch points all over my layout and the work and look good, and they are cheap to make. I hope this maybe of use to someone. Please note, that due to the nature of their construction, this method does not work on Peco points . Regards Dan
