  3. finishes assembling a bit of history - one Skytrex N gauge Beyer Garratt ready for the paintshop

  4. GNR day in the 'build all the old kits in the acquisitions box', today an N2 and a J52 mostly assembled, not that I actually have a chassis for either currently!

Oh, I wouldn't like to be in your shoes right now, hope you get it sorted without much bother.

  6. had an entertaining weekend, including being on a 150 that overshot Garth station and had to reverse a bit, passing a 97/3, a pair of DRS 37s on the network rail train, and a bizarre FGW 2 car unit half 150 and half 153. Even saw a movement on the GCG line ! and all by accident

don't supposed there are photos of some of these intriguing little oddities? :)

  7. has a big pile of ex crownline white metal moulds in his cellar and an identification headache

    1. Horsetan

      Horsetan

That will be fun....not. Crownline moulds were many and varied, and some of the parts that came out of them weren't worth writing home about, being just lumps. I did wonder whose hands they had passed through after Crownline went down. The cast brass and nickel-silver parts were a bit better.

Could you pump jelly in to them and see what emerges?

    3. Barry Ten

      Barry Ten

I couldn't afford Crownline parts when I was an impoverished lad reading Model Trains - once I *could* afford them they vanished.

  8. has been reading about the history of S&D (The Stockton one) locomotives and found it very funny that they first painted numbers on the locos so the public could identify trains and drivers when reporting bad behaviour. Also that the main problems were drink, speeding and unauthorised passengers on locos - particularly girls!

Thankfully not - the crappy chipboard flooring gave but didn't disintegrate entirely

    3. ozzyo

      ozzyo

If your going to replace the whole of the floor get the waterproof chipboard from one of your local building suppliers. It has a sort of green colour to it and has tongue and grooved edges to it all round.

I hope we can patch it as it goes under at least one internal wall

I shall talk to the chippy and see what says, good chance to see if while he's doing one job he'll do another 'small one' and do my baseboard bracing 8)

  12. has the body of the GWR C.80 cut out and assembled.

  13. has the main parts of the second attempt at a C.80 coach assembled, all plasticard so far - now can I make the battery boxes that way

  14. head hurts. Writing software to produce 3D meshes for 3D printing systems is worse than school geometry lessons

  23. is at work today. I don't see the point in using a day of holiday when the shops are shut and the tv is terrible

    1. Horsetan

      Horsetan

The terrible thing is that only the radio broadcast was technically live. The TV sound was a couple of seconds behind it! It was like this mad weird echo!

    2. Sailor Charon

      Sailor Charon

Why does it need to be on BBC1 and ITV1 as well?

Mind you, it's not as if Daytime TV's that good anyway... :)

  24. is back from Prague, there and back by train, much fun and the Dresden - Prague route is beautiful. Now where did I put the spare Z scale track...
