NVC BG conversion…info needed please
Ragtag replied to Mr Grumpy's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
I'm fairly sure some of them even saw Res livery, but don't have time to check at the mo. -
That's 0.5mm lining from @railtec-models, a far better result than the supplier I used to use

Hornby Gresley Buffet Article?
Ragtag replied to ianwales's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
That's the one and, as you say, it did precede the Hornby release -
Hornby Gresley Buffet Article?
Ragtag replied to ianwales's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
I'm pretty sure the article was actually in Railway Modeller rather than Model Rail, I seem to recall the RM-style line drawings favoured in many of their conversion articles. Afraid I can't help with an issue no. though, I had a purge of magazines recently. -
Class 37, by Accurascale
Ragtag replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
One thing I love about the britmodeller forum is that the software translates the really common acronyms when you mouse over. No idea how they did it but it's a neat feature, certainly one I could use here when I stray into some topics -

Rest of World, presumably -
The car carrier might make a nice cameo, would never have thought of that! That's an interesting shot of Dorchester too, just reinforces that I need to get working on some DAF 400 vans and their LDV successors.

I have repurchased my first trainset...
Ragtag replied to Esmedune's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
While I got rid of most of the train set, I actually still have the 47 and the pacer from my first trainset (in my sig). The loco has had a DCC-ready chassis from the ex-Lima railroad stuck under it and a bit of detailing done. It'll get lights at some point, too. Not the most accurate 47, but good memories nonetheless! -
Hi all, having settled into the new house sights have turned to the available space in the basement. I've wanted to build an RMT-based layout for a long time, and have been tinkering with track plans for the available space. I'm not sure I'm anywhere close to the final design yet, but this is where I'm at currently - all feedback appreciated! The RMT is, somewhat obviously, on the left whilst to the right is a small depot so that there's somewhere to run the various DMUs and test trains I've acquired. The fiddle yard will be hidden beneath the urban scene with the bus depot/metro station.

If you mean the Carlyle II it'll be finished as F422 BOP during its time as a Northumbria Demonstrator:

Also, having seen the work you're putting into your metrorider I'm not sure it's a fair comparison!
-
It is indeed, couldn't resist an attempt at the 20-seat Carlyle bodies.

That's handy to know, not many pics which show the entry well in much detail with the resolution of contemporary cameras.
-
Pity, could use some of those styles in 1/76

Thanks Gary - the seats are F21a from Mark Hughes: http://modelbuszone.co.uk/tmb/images_model_kits/mark_hughes/Mark_Hughes_Catalogue_Aug_15_postage_rev_29-03-19.pdf They're nice white metal castings with very little flash, rather cruel close-up but gives you a better idea:
-
Interesting approach, I've used metal for a few larger coaches but stuck with styrene for the minibuses in the end.
-
Nice job on the minibus, converted ABS, Tiny or scratchbuilt? I've been building a few of the Sherpa variety.
-
Coming along now, though still with reg plates, fleet branding, fleet numbers, destinations and a few other little details to do not to mention the glazing.

Superquick versus Metcalfe Models
Ragtag replied to Butler's topic in Card structure modelling forum
I'd give scalescenes a look, they offer quite a bit in low relief and the finish is far superior to Metcalfe in my opinion
