  1. I think the fundamental issue here is that you can only expect toy train performance from toy train track. If you want more satisfactory running then you need better track, laid properly.
  2. The ones missing from that drawing are the Wrought Paled fence and the Unclimbable iron fence.
  3. The Midland did not use diagonal fencing universally. There were other styles used - reference to Midland Style published by the HMRS would be beneficial.
  4. Yes they are the Mk1 hornblocks. The hole in the top needs to be tapped 10BA. They also need the appropriate spring that goes in the cups that screw into the hornblock.
  5. I suppose the answer is yes - but the results might be bad. A bit like are all mushrooms edible? - yes but some of them only once.
  6. The traditional definition is within the outcrop of the Thick Coal seam. The problem is that that worked when there were local district municipalities. However when the Metropolitan Boroughs came into effect it rather destroyed that definition. The modern Black Country is Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall and Sandwell.
  7. I suppose it was just too much to ask for the apostrophe?
  8. I don't know anything about the Z21 but if you don't know the address of a loco then (after trying the obvious of the Loco's number!) simply reprogramme the loco with a number you know - the loco number?
  9. There's a very similar one in Swindon. There is a Public footpath beneath.
  10. It's - you're not impressed, he doesn't have a not.
  11. What gets withdrawn at 70 is the 7.5t truck unless you undertake a medical to retain it.
  12. The regular formation of the past participle is to add ed to the infinitive eg to call/ was called, but there are many irregular past participles, such as spelt, which don't follow that form. Of course the interesting one is to hang where was hung goes to hanging meat and was hanged goes to hanging people.
  13. It depends. If I'm using a Slater's kit as a basis then no - The axle boxes are separate and I use the length of the bearing to secure the axle box. If the axle box is attached to the spring then yes as I want the bearing to slide within the axle box so it is a benefit to shorten it.
  14. Spelt is British and Spelled is American
  15. I'm GOING to be a Dad surely?
  16. Some of us don't. I shorten the axles by about 1mm each side and use 2 x 10BA washers to centralise the axle. This means they can be popped out any time I want.
  17. Yes it's a two cylinder locomotive. So either a Hall, Manor or Grange as I can't read the number plate.
  18. Well it sort of is, 150 Euro is about (as of today's exchange rate) £130
  19. Yes and when you do that you will find that you loose September from the refund.
  20. You are going to loose a month what ever you do. So I would just get on with it and transfer the vehicle now and tax it.
  21. Two points: 1 - a frog is set by the tie bar furthest away from it. 2 - for the through routes both tie bars must be set in order to have the frogs at the correct polarity. ie they work like a crossover.
