  1. thanks m8, i hope to see some pictures of yours soon. back to my effort. i have added 1mm to the bottom edge and scribed on the access panels. just the cab ends and cab roof to detail before i can prime her. the body is on its Hornby chassie in the pics but its only to scribe the access panels.
  2. Hi all the nice posty delivered the nice new never been run Lima chassis today so i set about modifying it to fit the Hornby body. 1st up was to cut off the corners on each end of the chassis. Then cut the slots for the rads. Cut off the centre lugs and trim the tops off the buffer beams. On the body i have cut off the buffers and beam trim to fit on the Lima chassis buffer beams. Ride height looks wrong at the moment but its just the Hornby body, I am going to add 1mm to the bottom edge off the body to make it look better. But as it is, it’s a vast improvement on the hornbys looks.
  3. ok, do you agree or disagree that my windows are not flat like the Lima 37
  4. ok i did say curve, and i still say it, all be it in a three distinct planes kind a way. lets face it, the offset in this scale is far from easy to see, and the offset of a real 37 is no better, its not like there at a 30 degree angel to the center window are they. 10 degree is pushing it. i will have to go up the road to 37097 and find out what the offset is now koz its bugging me Ha Ha any Excuse to go see her is a good one by me
  5. windows showing the 1.9mm offset at the edge, and all pains of glass are flat.
  6. am not rong james, i never said they are flat all the way across, the outer edge of the outer glass is about 130mm back from the center window glass. as we are modeling in 4mm to the foot, the offset of the outer edge of the outer glass to the center glass would be about 1.9mm back. just like i have modeled them. the fact that it looks flat only means just that, from the front. as do real 37's windows look flat from the front.
  7. here is a good set of pictures. http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris_adams/2709114309/in/photostream/
  8. hi dave i was thinking about doing something on them lines to sit in a siding on my layout. somehting like this, www.renownrepulse.com/photo_collection/other_classes_stored_and_for_scrap/class_37's_at_booths.aspx for some reson, this link is not working but i see its not putting the full thing in the address bar to see the photos, click on this link but type or add this to the end, 's_at_booths.aspx
  9. I think that mite just be the 40 the 37 has a nice curve to the windows. Having 37097 just up the road from me, I gave her a good going over with a tape measure and i can ashore you the windows are at the right curve. and this picture shows the curve.
  10. its Slaters 20 Thou Brass wire, Ref 1213 i cut it with nail clippers, so no need to be exact, just trim of the exess with the clippers after, you can get right to the edge.
  11. i think so, i did not have any problems getting what i needed m8
  12. best place to get shawplan bits is from Howes models, look in detailing parts in the list. http://www.howesmodels.co.uk/Railways/index.php
  13. Hi All And now for the Rads its all in the pictures but feel free to ask me anything.
  14. thanks for the comments after giving the cab roofs a good sanding with 1200s i gave it a cote of matt paint to show up anything i missed. after sanding the matt paint againe with 1200s i will add the cab roof detail. i have also added the nose grills and fan grill, i did not think i needed to show you how to stick them on , all the prep work was done and can be seen in last pics. next up is the rads
  15. when dry, sand to shape. where the windows meet the body, there is a gap on the nose roof, using PVA glue and a sharp knife, run PVA in to this gap, it drys good and can be painted over with most hobby paints. thats it for now carl
  16. i made a start on the cab windows. the cab windows sit to high, but its the nose roof thats to high, using a sharp flat blade, scrape plastic off at the sides of nose roof untill the windows fit. then place the window frames on the glass and run super glue round the outside edge with a sharp knife, only put what you need or the glass will frost. then cut them out and fit them to see if a good fit, if so glue them on. then fill and sand.
  17. nice posty droped all the goodys off today.
  18. its ok james i just like the modeling challenge. plus the Hornby 37 is more spot on then the lima molding in shape. but i am using a modifide lima chassis for this Hornby body. so its going to be a true limby
  19. this is my next task, so i will post a step by step pictorial. its made from plastic card, strip plastic and 0.5 wire. the shawplan grill mesh is a bit smaller then the Hornby, so cut out the Hornby gill mesh as i have but leave 0.5 on the inside of the grill frame before sanding it flat, or the hole mite be to big, i have fitted the shawplan grill on the 1st loco, but i did not remove the old horndy molding, you can see its smaller if you look.
