  1. Well 005 is out and about on 4Z58. Snapped her past Lichfield TV junction.
  2. Then there is this 150142 in sprinter livery, however the front seems closer to the original prototype livery than the other /1s in this scheme. http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Edit: I think I'm sort of coming to the conclusion that these 3 cars were put together in 1988, especially if they used the later series of /2s which were only finished in 87. With 150147 being a 2 car in Dec 87 and then being a 3 car in prov/sprinter in Oct 88
  3. I always found that that years book was the end of the previous year, ie 1988s book was a good reflection of the end of 87, etc due to publication at the start of a year. So I suspect they were put together sometime march 88 onwards then. Dave Edit Found photos of 146 in provincial with sprinter /2 centre car in 88 & 89 http://www.flickr.com/photos/railhereford/6782043671/
  4. Thanks for the info chaps. This was the reason behind Bachmanns 150/1 in sprinter livery then. I think that was the reason behind the discussion on the old rmweb, re why baccy had produced that livery on the /1 and not put it on a /2. If I remember rightly there were old fotopic photos showing a prov /1 with a sprinter /2 centre car, but that seems to have long gone. My father and I seemed to have spotted most of the midlands 150s by about late 86, but the/2 were spread further afield and then were split up.
  5. Hi all I'm looking into midland region 3 car class 150s. I know that the /2s were finished in '87. The 3 car units did get renumbered into the 1500xx range but I think they ran around for quite a while in original /1 numbers with /2 centre car. Does anyone know when the first 3 car units started earning their living? I'm from memory thinking it was some time in 1987, but I'm not sure and can't find any photos old enough. I'd be interested to know what livery they round in, I guess the first few would have been provinical light blue for /1 and sprinter livery /2 centre car, but don't think that would have lasted too long? I'm not interested in the 2 prototypes at the moment, as I'm looking into modelling the 3 car set with /2 car. I have a feeling it was discussed on an older rmweb but thats down at the moment, but may have been an earlier version still. Dave
  6. Has the influx of views from your link crashed big blue, mysql errors now. I do like that layout, seemingly done on a budget but great to see it develop. The night shots are very atmospheric.
  7. I like the new email notifications. Much clearer on small mobile devices. Anything else new?

  8. Thank goodness, I was getting worried I'd do more modelling

  9. Is very happy to get my PPI claim agreed by the bank! woohoo!

  10. I've got these on order though http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251023416589 I'd probably waste most a tube making them.
  11. I have a cannon angled filter box ( unbuilt kit ) I could measure if your search doesn't turn up any drawings.
  12. Yes halfords do a white but I always avoided it for some reason. I like their grey but tended to use tamiya white primer. From the BR. warning panels I've painted I have never had success with yellow over grey primer.
  13. Thats ok Jon, I can get them off ebay.com for a couple of $s. I too have heard good things about the rustoleum range, it looks a decent covering, slightly finer looking than you get with halfords, and light permitting does look lighter than halfords too, which is a good thing I think. Regards Dave
  14. Jon. Probably badly worded by me but DA make this http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/229-2402 that has plate around the base but the Atlas part doesn't have this. I need the one without.
  15. Thats what I'm currently in the middle of with my GP38-3, removing all signs of the GP50 turbos. You seem to have 2 choices for the exhaust hatch, there's a Atlas spares part but that doesnt have a plate bottom, like the other option which is a Cannon part. I need the Atlas one as I dont need the plate, but a lot of the 38-2s did have plates. Thanks for those photos Tony, they'll help a little with my NS 38-3, if by any chance your ever out fanning and get a chance for a few roof shots of a NS 38-3, I'm still trying to figure out if the removed middle fan is plated over with a round piece or a rectangular/square plate of metal, personally I'm of the opinion that its the latter, I've zoomed in on as many photos as I can find but things get too blurred to be 100% about it. Dave
  16. I've got a few updates for my GP38-3 thread that'll be along very soon. I must admit I did find the detailing lists daunting when I first came to look through them. I tend to put up a photo of what I need (proto) then ask 'can someone tell me what this is...? and who sells them?' Its worked quite well for me. Or you could put up a proto photo and ask what do I need for a atlas trainman whatever... and people will be able to discuss what you need. The first plan worked well for me, as the only people who make the NS GP38-3 AC unit is Athearn and its a spare for their CR SD70 spartan cab, no-one else does it, and I had to email their spares for it. Regards Dave PS, I've several projects to get going soon, a GP40 NS exCR blue, 2 SW9s. (CIRY)
  17. Some interesting plans on your site Stein, I like the 41/2'x18" plans. Keep them coming. rgds Dave
  18. The dark blue theme has gone, anyone know if it will be back??

    1. petethemole

      petethemole

      also dark green

  19. I've got a US H0 layout I'd be happy to bring. I'm only 10 min down the road in Lichfield. Front operated so will go up against a wall nicely. scenic 5'x20" with spur fiddleyard 3' extra length. CSX Miami based. Dave
  20. Thought I'd add this ebay shop to the list of good traders. TJ model trains a family run ebay shop. Prices at really good levels. I found that most of their Cannon & Co details parts are cheaper than Cannon's own online shop. They also charge minimal amounts for P+P even overseas. Just bought $30 detailing parts and they charged me $4.50. Service is good too, I asked back in early Jan if they had or were getting some detailing items that werent listed, I had an email 2 days ago to tell me that they had some new items that I might be interested in. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/tjmodeltrainsandthings Dave
  21. Looking good Jon, There's always a catch when you find the prototype you want to model and realise it makes a lot more work than you had intended, I get that a lot! Have you re-wheeled her yet? what wheels are you using because I know that these can be a pain because of the Bachmann middle axle, I know JSW uses a smaller centre wheel as its been noted that straight conversions like being in the ballast more than being on the rails. ( A reason I'm happy with P4'ing Vi duffs ) Dave A detailed SD40-2 would be good to see hint hint...
  22. I see BR blue as more of a label for an era, since we've pretty much dispensed with the modern image tag. There was a varied selection of diesels and Electrics and coaching stock. This variety is what I model rather than because they were all blue. I also grew up through this period.
  23. I spoke to Jason today as he has my order ready. He did apologise for not getting things sorted sooner but like we thought he has been working away from home and hasn't been able to sort out the business. It may be worth a call to him as I'm sure he may have a huge back log of emails. Regards Dave
  24. Thanks for the TMR link, think I'll give them a go as I need quite a few decals soon.
  25. Happy New Year everybody, now bed I need to be at work in 5 hrs
