  1. The background is instantly recognizable to a local. Although the colliery line does seem to go off stage through a church. Nothing better than watching baby sulzers and choppers wind there way through that scenery. Well done to all involved!
  2. I shall be making the journey to Donny today also, but its a trip to the in-laws for me! I shall however see everyone over the weekend. Good luck to all. Watch out for the roadworks off jnc3 of the M18 they can be a pain. All the best
  3. Think we can allow this under pro weathered. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Standard-Gauge-Steam-Locomotive-Sale-stoom-dampflok-/251203548733
  4. Jim come on don't put them off buying the Dapol version. I'm looking forward to the influx of auction listings for the Lima version.
  5. Its quite common in Tipton I think....
  6. It was early eightes admittedly buy I remember plenty Ford cortina's and Granada's in the area Capri we're not that common.
  7. There's no yellowy smoke stained walls either. Needs ashtrays! Stunning build though ID!
  8. Ah but in my family (Stourbridge, brierly hill, wordsley, kingswinford) were black country but not yamyams!
  9. I'm glad that show was a success Andy. Here's to next year. Regards Dave
  10. What cad/art software have you used to design that image?
  11. Just looking around ebay today I stumbled on this, apparently a Hornby, kit built Scotrail class 156. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R2693-KIT-BUILT-SCOTRAIL-CLASS-156-SALTIRE-LIVERY-DMU-SET-52437-DCC-mv-/330803709957?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4d05700805 How much! Strangely the much better detailed version albeit a different livery is £125 cheaper! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R2693-KIT-BUILT-SCOTRAIL-CLASS-156-FIRST-LIVERY-DMU-SET-52465-MIB-DCC-mv-/330803709230?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4d0570052e
  12. Simon that POA looks outstanding, even the couplings look substantial. Good work! regards Dave
  13. That's a pretty decent image of the 60 mate!
  14. That looks just like the few I bought recently, they are very good and bits don't move between compartments, but your right they don't come cheaply any more do they! Dave
  15. Doesn't look much like an underwear factory... Sorry.
  16. The other thing to think about is if its your first time building trackwork you'll need track gauges, they can be costly at first plus tools to file rail, split the copper clad and soldering supplies.
  17. I seem to remember that the fine P4 Mostyn layout ran a number of Hornby rats with just a wheel change. Some were double motored I think to improve pulling power. They are still the best representation of that class and only the sole bar shows it up! Although Bachmann also decided to add a solebar to their rats even though they never had them.
  18. Another thing that might be a good idea for road and platform surfaces is fine wet and dry paper something like 1600 grit. A pack of 5 roughly a4 sheets from halfords is only in the £2-3 range and would go a long way and it's generally the right colour and textured, only a little stippling with other colours would be needed. Dave
  19. Thoroughly enjoying the National Railwsy Museum on my sons first visit! DofHam looks stunning.

I hope your Grandson enjoyed himself, and you of course!

  20. Or one that works long hours... For P4 would advise anything tighter, just for running in that is? My garage is only 7'6 wide, and is the widest available space in my small dwelling. Dave
  21. Jack they only ship in the US. Some nice kits though, anyone else stock their items?
  22. Painting the fascia a similar colour to the foreground of layout is a way to go. As can be seen here on this layout by the X street gang. German US modellers. http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=242473&postcount=5 These photos are taken from a European US show and only 1 of them has a black fascia. dave
