  1. Hi Nick, definitely not my layout, merely a contributor to the group... I think the last time I checked the dimensions of the layout it was big x still pretty big To be honest, I couldn't tell you the accurate dimension, but i'm fairly sure that the station section itself without the new extension is around 30 ft long, though I'm sure that a couple of people on here would be able to confirm that.. Hopefully soon, when we have trains going off scene on the new extension, we'll be able to create a nicely polished video of a session which can be shown on here and also on the Perfect Miniatures stand at exhibitions.. JB.
  2. I like that... yet another foreign loco though ! JB.
  3. How's this for realism ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsV0SkZ1neg JB.
  4. Just a quick update after today mid-week meeting.. Had a pretty eventful day and managed to get the first board of the extension attached to the end of the static part of the layout. Today was the first chance we've had what with the terrible weather we're having. JB.
  5. Haven't you finished it yet ?? Only kidding, it's gonna be a cracker ! JB.
  6. Superb, love to see a lot more of this ! JB.
  7. Chin on the ballast ? You must be joking, I have tall bloke syndrome ! JB.
  8. Spectacular, this is going to be quite a scene when it's finished ! JB.
  9. Cranks are easy, it's the eccentrics that might be somewhat trickier.. JB.
  10. Those building looks fantastic from here... Going to be MEGA ! JB.
  11. Looking good... You'll have to bring it up to West Mersea for the inaugural run when it's finished JB.
  12. Been a while since anything has been mentioned about West Mersea, so I thought I would pop a couple of videos up from the last meeting. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do some better videos with some better lighting one day, rather than just a couple of minutes before I leave for home. I need to persuade a few of the other members to bring their stock along more regularly too so that we can show more than just a vain old K2 trundling up and down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fl17pAMPiAk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5djc4wTRD30 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iz-9yaFlppQ Progress is errr progressing with the extension. We still need to wait for some better weather before we can lay some bricks to support the extension outside, but either myself or Buckjumper will cover that when we get there I'm sure. Kind Regards, JB.
  13. Lovely, reminds me, I must start thinking about a quad-art ! I'll need to draw it up in Autocad though so that I can get some etches created, which in turn needs a trip to NRM to get some drawings.. JB.
  14. Like the tram Andy, just wish I could justify one for West Mersea... You should enjoy the J39 kit, nice and simple. Only thing to look out for is that on the later engines there was a spacer plate on the front of the cylinders, so you might need to scratch up a piece of brass to go underneath the cylinder covers.. JB.
  15. When can we see some videos Gordon ? Very excited by this...! JB.
  16. Spectacular again.... Is that the final lighting rig that is illuminating the layout ?? If so I might suggest that you get some frosted lighting gels to soften the light sources, it'll stop the shadows being as harsh. Must must must build something for Heyside so that I can come and play sometime !! JB.
  17. This is going to be lovely... I'm a great fan of big tanks, though you might not thing so with my current lineup of motive power.. I don't have any (yet). JB.
  18. Looking great Ken... I know there are lots of methods for cutting long straight lines when scratchbuilding (tops of frames etc), but just wondering if you would like to elucidate on your method ?? JB.
  19. You'll enjoy putting the handrails on the Toad... Patience is definitely a virtue JB.
  20. Never qualify for the speed modeling olympics ? Don't be so sure... I think you're flying along to be honest !! JB.
  21. Very nice... Really like the Patriot... another foreign engine that I wouldn't mind for myself.. JB
  22. Looks great... have you thought yet about getting yourself some S7 axles, and sending the wheels off for re-profiling ? On another note, it looks like you have been able to 'push' everything from your blog into a normal forum page... would you be able to enlighten me on how you did it?? I wouldn't mind transferring everything from my Blog onto a normal forum page if it's possible in one foul swoop.. ?? JB.
  23. Nearly there Adrian... and looking very nice too! What's next on the workbench ? JB.
