  1. Hi Peter, Sorry I’ve not been on here as much of late as I always enjoy seeing your layout when I do get chance. That 47 just shows actually how good Lima got the shape right at the time. Looks good detailed up on a nice chassis. All the best Mark
  2. Hi George, Will look forward to seeing you all in Glasgow later this week. Rannoch is still the same size but it’s coming back too. Some new stock, including something yellow to keep Mick happy! safe trip up Mark
  3. Hi Warren, Thank you for your very kind words about the layout. It is me back with Rannoch this year stand B62 along with the Scottish Modellers demo alongside. Please come and say hello as always good to put faces to names on here. Martin and Alan who will be on the demo area are both interested in the WHL and are building/planning layouts as well so always good to chat and share ideas. Hopefully see you next weekend thanks Mark
  4. Hi Kev, Just think when that 325 enters service I can bring my blue 66 to pull it lol! cheers Mark
  5. Hi Peter, That new 40 looks good. Bit different seeing those Scottish locos on the layout. All the best Mark
  6. Hi Nick, That is looking great. You’ve made quick progress on the new section. All the best Mark
  7. That shed looks great, you’ve certainly captured the look of the real thing well. It’s the only location I’ve actually been onto the platform to have a look a round on the WHL and thought it would make into an interesting model. Still haven’t been to Rannoch despite me starting building my model of it in 2009. all the best Mark
  8. It’s a shame to hear of another good shop closing. When I was younger I use to go to Trains and Transport and I’ve had a fair few items from here via eBay sales mainly HTA’s at decent prices when I wanted to create a full rake. all the best Mark
  9. Hello, Thanks to those of you for sharing useful information about the 20/3’s. The RRP isn’t too bad and after discounts looks like a pair will be affordable. Not sure yet what to renumber one as and I’ve got one of Bifs sound chips waiting ready too. Ideal traction to go with Accurascales PFA’s. thanks Mark
  10. I joined the Bachmann club just for the WCRC Pullmans and 37706. Couldn’t believe it when they announced them and saw them at DEMU showcase. Dennis personally made sure that my completed form was with them Monday morning and that I was able to order as they went pretty quick. Really can’t fault that for excellent service. Mark
  11. Hi @AY Mod, @Phil Parker Just a little question which you might know from today. Towards the end of last year Bachmann have really started to catch up and deliver high quality models and the estimated release dates were on their website going well into this year. Of particular interest to me the Class 20/3’s did they say if this schedule has changed or will we just have to wait and see at each 1/4’s announcement for the existing plans models to appear? I’m not in any rush for them as I want too much this year already lol! One thing that’s come up a few times in this topic is funding new models if they are announced and you want it in a shorter timescale. I have a little instant access savings account that I keep alongside my main account. If I sell a little on eBay or have a little surplus I just move it across that way I’ve always got a little rainy day fund for that model I really want. It’s really helped whilst money has been tighter this last year or so and as a result I’ve managed to get more than I had hoped. I’ve also become much more careful to only buy what fits my layout plans despite how nice something new and shiny is! Whilst this 1/4 doesn’t have anything I want. I had suspected from the previous list this would be the case. It meant I was finally able to get the rep EWS 37704 model I had been after and go for the sound version as well. The latest 37’s with sound are very good from Bachmann and having waited found a good price too. Now spare a thought for Andy and Phil, think of all the frothing and wishlisting that Bachmanns new announcement plan will create 4 times a year! Thanks Mark
  12. BR(S), I can see your frustrated in that you have an issue with your order. Charlie has replied on here twice asking you for your name and details so he can look into it. A polite phone call to him is probably better than having a rant and slagging his customer service so it can get resolved in private for you. I’m sure there is a genuine mistake somewhere. I’ve known Charlie for years and he is a very straight forward, honest hard working individual so don’t think you have anything to worry about. Whatever your real name is? Mark
  13. Hi everyone, I hadn’t heard of Tony’s trains before reading this topic. I had however been looking out for the rep edition 37704 in EW&S livery as it’s well out of my normal retailers region. I found one via eBay from Tony at a great price and opted for the sound fitted version as a result. It arrived very quickly and well packed. Always good to find excellent retailers like this around the country and I would certainly use again. It’s also thanks to those who had posted positive experiences that I found this retailer as well. thanks Mark
  14. Hi Fran, Will look forward to seeing you all at Glasgow. I’ve just set Rannoch up for testing this afternoon. Now how about the newer type of FNA’s, will certainly fit with current themes of 37/6’s. All the best Mark
  15. Hi everyone, Rainbow Railways are doing all the limited versions of the 156. They will be on their website when stock is available but the Northern units that were finished last night have already sold out. More will follow so keep an eye out if you want one. Olivias have limited stocks too. You are only paying £45 more than the standard price for a 2 car unit from brand new stock direct from Charlie which is fully stripped down before being fully refinished and rebuilt. After painting the livery elements and details are printed on which creates a superb finish which you can’t achieve with transfers so they really are very good value to add something different to your collection. I want a Northern one for myself but I’ll have to wait at the current rate of demand! I don’t have enough spare time to go and help Colin build more units up. There will be a few new specials for Glasgow from Charlie but I can’t say any more! Just for the avoidance of any doubt Colin, Mike and Charlie are friends of mine which is how I know what is in production but thought some might like this extra information. Thanks Mark
  16. Sad news indeed. I only knew of Ant through the DEMU forum and he was always a positive and friendly person in all topics. RIP
  17. That does look fantastic. Will have to find an excuse one day to visit but it is a long way from Scotland. Still will be looking forward to the exclusive Warflats. All the best Mark
  18. Hi Mick, Its not completely clear from the Catalogue but it’s listed as R4941/A then has the coach description then 45001/45003 so looks like 45001 is R4941 and A is 45003 if it’s printed correctly. I was trying to work out the Scotrail coaches too as the images so A C and D but not sure where B comes in. Might just have to wait til they come out. hope that helps Mark
  19. Hi Alex/Cav, Thanks for the professional update from you guys as always. I’m sad to hear the news on the 91 as it would have been a spectacular project to see a full set in 4mm although good luck with the continuation in 2mm. Anyway onto positive news the BBA, great to hear it will soon be in production, although certainly no rush for it. It really does look superb and I am looking forward to getting the rake to model the Workington trains. It will also suit Newlands Park on Scottish steel flows too when we finally get this out again. Then there will be the Warflats which are such a good choice as well withTrains4U so plenty to look forward to from my point of view. Keep up the great work Thanks Mark
  20. Hi Eric, Just for clarity I wasn’t pointing out any livery errors with the Hattons model. I had been comparing the models as produced to the real locos more for dates they ran with various stickers etc on the doors. It was from this I noticed the real 207 appeared with its cab doors swapped at some point creating an interesting variation as the gold band no longer lined up as designed. Something to model one day. Thanks Mark
  21. Thanks Mick it’s one of those little details that I hadn’t really noticed before and couldn’t work out how it occurred on the real thing. Cheers for that info. It adds to the variety and something I might need to replicate on a model. 66207 has also worked to Workington so is another future contender. Thanks Mark
  22. Comparing photos of the real locos against the Hattons web pages I think I’ve made my mind up to get 66088 with DB as it’s worked trains to Workington so fits well and Hattons look to have done well in matching the little warning stickers on doors etc. 66125 in EWS also looks spot on again with the nice little touches of details. One random thing I spotted on 66207 is on the side with 2 grills the yellow bands on the doors are the wrong way up. So don’t line up with the rest of the body side gold stripes at each end. I wonder how this occurred on the real loco unless it was masked and painted wrong? If they had swapped the door handles wouldn’t line up so a bit if a curiosity. Ive saved enough for 1 with sound so hopefully will have enough for the pair ahead of Glasgow. All the best Mark
  23. I must admit I don’t need a 91 but the Scotsman loco and DVT will be stunning. all the best Mark
  24. I got this Catalogue mainly as it’s 100 years and a good price with Hornby magazine. The last I got was the 50th edition really just to collect. I thought there was a lot in this years edition though and it made it easy to look at the Catalogue numbers for ordering the items I really would like to get. DB red 60100, GBRF 50049, The HST NMT power cars and then several coaches for starters. Interestingly none of the new tooling items but I’m delighted by the chosen relivery options this year. There is more I would like depending how business is this year and of course the items from other sources that need funded. Again I think plenty of choice from Hornby that should suit a wide range of modellers, eras and interests so I hope is a successful year again for them. cheers Mark
