  1. Thanks Mikkel. This one doesn't really need a caption.
  2. An empty Cl.444, heading for Bournemouth Depot, rushes through Christchurch as the clock approaches midnight.
  3. Well it sure captures the look and feel of a Deltic to me. A picture of the real 9014 will be found here: http://www.derby.fotopic.net/p48844611.html
  4. They did beef up the power supply a few years ago, when new facilities on the up side at the western end of the Bourne Valley viaduct near Branksome, were constructed. x2 Cl.442 did and x2 Cl.444 and Cl.450s do run into the carriage sdgs west of Poole where, as a previous post had said, any uncoupling takes place. I don't ever recall seeing them in multiple beyond that point though.
  5. Richard, Very interesting line diagrams. Number 004, showing the ECML north of Little Bytham, seems to indicate that there may have been plans to 4-track the section north of Stoke, through Stoke Tunnel and down to Grantham. Anyone know anything about this?
  6. A typical busy scene with six trains in the station (all providing connections with each other)and a diesel doing some shunting in the yard.
  7. Whilst I must admit I'm not really into this continental stuff, I do find this webcam fascinating. Spend much too long looking at it..... Does anyone have a trackplan of the station and surrounding area they can share? I've looked at Google maps, but it's difficult to make out some of the lines as the quality isn't all that sharp. It's also interesting to see the simplicity of the German OHLE, which is in stark contrast to some of the overhead we have, in particular the WCML in the Trent Valley.
  8. Nowadays at Southampton, when Cl.444s are joined on up morning services, the rear unit couples directly onto the front portion, then the doors are opened. Announcements are made over the PA prior to arrival at Soton to remind passengers that there will be a slight delay before the doors open.
  9. Many thanks. Think it's the first time I've ever seen a plan of Woodside.
  10. Carrying on the discussion from Jim's P4 New Street thread, this is what a Cl.87 might've looked like with a headcode box and no headlight.....
  11. Any chance of sharing the later one with us please?
  12. The 1979 timetable had the following basic Mon-Sat arrangements: XX.35 off Waterloo (Summer) 8TC [Weymouth] + 4REP [b'mth] (Winter) 4TC [Weymouth] + 4TC/4REP [b'mth] XX.42 off Waterloo 4VEP [b'mth] + 4VEP [Alton] XX.46 off Waterloo 8TC/4REP [b'mth] Just taken down the England flag for another 2 (or maybe 4) years..... Don't think anything is scheduled for Plat 1 at B'mth. The last thing I saw in there was occasionally a spare 3-CIG off the Lymington branch. Currently both of the 3-CIGs are still stabled in the carriage cleaning shed at BM Depot along with a Cl.73
  13. Somewhere on the Circle Line. I took a similiar shot without people on the platform, but prefer this one.
  14. I like the composition of the final photo of the fireman; very good sense of movement. My favourite is the rear view from the train of Gresley stock - almost timeless....
  15. Warship D814 "Dragon" waiting to work an up express to Paddington in the summer of 1962.
  16. A non-boilered Cl.47/3 has turned up at Goodrington with a Summer Saturdays train from Nottingham to Paignton. This was in the days before I could afford colour film.....
  17. The Lyme Regis branch springs to mind where this happened in reality..
  18. Hopefully less mottled on this one.....
