  1. Carrying on the discussion from Jim's P4 New Street thread, this is what a Cl.87 might've looked like with a headcode box and no headlight.....
  2. Any chance of sharing the later one with us please?
  3. The 1979 timetable had the following basic Mon-Sat arrangements: XX.35 off Waterloo (Summer) 8TC [Weymouth] + 4REP [b'mth] (Winter) 4TC [Weymouth] + 4TC/4REP [b'mth] XX.42 off Waterloo 4VEP [b'mth] + 4VEP [Alton] XX.46 off Waterloo 8TC/4REP [b'mth] Just taken down the England flag for another 2 (or maybe 4) years..... Don't think anything is scheduled for Plat 1 at B'mth. The last thing I saw in there was occasionally a spare 3-CIG off the Lymington branch. Currently both of the 3-CIGs are still stabled in the carriage cleaning shed at BM Depot along with a Cl.73
  4. Somewhere on the Circle Line. I took a similiar shot without people on the platform, but prefer this one.
  5. I like the composition of the final photo of the fireman; very good sense of movement. My favourite is the rear view from the train of Gresley stock - almost timeless....
  6. Warship D814 "Dragon" waiting to work an up express to Paddington in the summer of 1962.
  7. A non-boilered Cl.47/3 has turned up at Goodrington with a Summer Saturdays train from Nottingham to Paignton. This was in the days before I could afford colour film.....
  8. The Lyme Regis branch springs to mind where this happened in reality..
  9. Hopefully less mottled on this one.....
  10. The Midland Pullman was stabled at Reddish. Anyone got pictures of that there too?
  11. Looking at these pictures, especially of the modern Woodhead Tunnel, makes me think of all the money, time and effort put into creating it. Then one day a decision is made to just scrap it all. So sad; such a waste. My memories of travelling over the line were the half empty trains and the condensation running down the inside of the Mk1 coaches. The scenery appeared more wild and desolate than on the other Trans-Pennine routes. Sheffield Victoria always seemed to be a cold and draughty place to me.
  12. I'm sure some actually did use the Derby - Manchester line for running trials.
  13. Good choice for a model. Nice to see the reverse curves through the station modelled so well.
  14. I imagine a D63XX would be a very good seller. As regards the shade of blue, many ended their days in an appalling external condition, so the shade of paint might be the least of our worries.....
  15. Gordon, Don't worry about the inter-relation of stone walling and other railway structures. For example Sheff Mid had stone retaining walls but standard MR wooden signalboxes. Lots of other examples. You appear to be modelling the GN/LNER/ER, so as long as those railway buildings are typical of those designs, which your signalbox obviously is, then it's fine. Peter
  16. That's Weekday Cross Jn on the GC just south of Nottm Vic. If I recall, the signalbox was in the "V" of the junction with a brick base and wooden upper section. What we see is probably a pw hut. I think the signalbox fits in quite well, but I'd turn it around - I presume it only controls the two higher-level lines. It would also line up better with the approach steps set in the stonework. I'd have another signalbox controlling the low-level tracks. Peter
  17. Don't know if this counts as creative or not; though surely all photography is creative is some way. Not sure if the picture looks better with or without the fencing on the left. I think it balances the picture better, so left it in. The view, by the way, is Bournemouth Depot this lunchtime.
  18. Taking a quick break in the "Festivities" for some peace and quiet..... This is how they do it today, at least in Bournemouth. Note that only the top of the platform edge is being painted, not the sides.
  19. I have it on good authority that after the first twelve have been delivered, the body design will be changed from 70013 onwards to something more appealing. However Freightliner will retain the green livery, albeit with a redesigned emblem on the locomotive. I managed to get a snap of the new design whilst it was on trials........
  20. Rather like the joke about the numerous GWR "Hall" class 4-6-0s, with the last one to be built called "That's Hall".
