  1. Just finished half the base layer of scenics on Outon Road phase 2. Feels like there is progress at last!

    1. RedgateModels

      RedgateModels

      2 months to go ...........

  2. Looking forward to seeing DL in the flesh at Mansfield. Its looking the biz, I wish I only had tweeks to do!! I still have major building to get done (8 and a half weeks and counting!!! ) Chris some nice duffs would look good taking a cross pennine trip through Outon Road I think also!! Anyone with any AC EMU's would go down a treat too as I wont have chance to build one by then!! Cav
  3. They look pretty good actually. I just looked. I think £20 is probably a good price and may be worth looking at as the fiddle yard supports for Outon Road. Id need 3 for that and as you say can be used for future projects. In fact would be perfect for my next project which you know about!! Cav
  4. How much are the trestles Neil? might be a time saver for Outon P2.
  5. Yeah it was great show last year and as you say its better when youve really got something to be proud of. I am really looking forward to showing big Outon Road for the first time. Cav
  6. All looking really good now. The dusk shots really work well on the layout. The stock is also bedding in very well now too. Looking forward to seeing it at Mansfield mate. Cav
  7. On a completely different note if they electrify the MML it would mean the end (due to its low height) of my local iconic trainspotting place as a kid. Tapton footbridge. The bridge has been around since adam was a lad and would be a sad day if it goes. I havent dangled a tape measure off the bridge to check the height but it is very close to the train roofs as they pass. If the bridge has to go it would be a shame if someone doesnt take it into preservation. Cav
  8. Certainly a lot slower than paper. Hence supermarkets trying to get you to reuse bags so they dont sit in landfill for the next 1000 years. Cav
  9. I wouldnt use an offcut of a real one the weave will be 76 times to big. Something smooth would be better probably a bit of orange sainsburys bag or similar (the sainsburys ones are quite thin so worth a look) with some silver lines on. You can also stretch them to reproduce creases etc. Cav
  10. Ive not had chance to restart it yet. Planning on doing some this week. Im not even thinking about my next project yet as Ill get too excited and not get on with this haha.
  11. I wish I was in such a comfy position. Ive got an incredible amount to get done before mansfield. On a more positive note I found some old baseboards I made and never did anything with in the loft earier which I reckon I could use as the base for the fiddle yard traverser. Excellent. Cav
  12. Much better. Looking really good mate well done. Cav
  13. If Im honest mate I think its a much better job than the grey one. You know my thoughts on the cake on wipe off thing so to me this one is a much better effort. I would like to see the cakey contrast on the roof blended a bit as to me its getting back to the wipe off thing Im not keen on but top marks for effort on this. You are growing in confidence with every piece of stock you do. If I could give you one piece of advice grab yourself a double action airbrush. The control of paint flow makes these effects a breeze with a little practice. The single action you have is all or nothing paint wise. You dont need a pricey one to weather with. A cheap chinese one off ebay for about £10 will do you. Cav
  14. The container looks particularly good. Even the scale spider webs on the door mechanism!!
  15. Layout starting to look very good now Neil. 37s arrows are a major improvement.
  16. You want to use clear styrene sheet at about 10 or 15 thou. Easier to cut than thicker stuff which is essential with this job also dont use the brittle type of plastic as that really is a nightmare. I've tried alsorts and still come back to trusty styrene. Cav
  17. I agree Richard the 31 in the shed is cracking. Love the detailed interior. I dont have any sheds on my layout or any planned so can't copy you. However I do have some industrial units planned so could do an open door there! Its a shame the Hornby 31 has such rotaty buffers I have a shot taken by chris nevard of my 31461 which is spoiled by wonky buffers grrr. Cav
  18. We'd best be next to each other at mansfield!! haha anyway back to business you should do the windows on the tractor mate the difference is incredible. You only have to do the front ones too which is a bonus!! Cav
  19. The ends do look good. Its a good job you should be proud. As for the missus Im sure that she pays far more attention than you think. Shes right though the skills have come on leaps and bounds in all areas since Pilot road. Goes to show that practice makes perfect especially if you learn from your previous efforts as you do. Something not everyone does. Cav
  20. I agree 4th one for me too. Looks rather good from that angle. The technique has been been very well executed especially for a first go with the airbrush and wipe. If Im honest though Im not a big fan of the technique in general which I have voiced elsewhere before and find it doesnt sit quite right with me. It always seems a bit contrasty from really caked to virtually nothing. It works better I think in small areas as part of an overall more blended (not sure if thats the word Im after but its getting late and Im not well) picture. Taking nothing away from Neil though, great job. Cav
  21. If I'm honest I always preferred the revised NSE scheme, much more toned down and the lack of upturned stripes worked better I thought. That said I used to have a detailed and weathered 86401 in old NSE which was awsome!! Cav
  22. Nice shots Neil the outdoors ones make all the difference. I still feel that cannon yard ought to be used as an extension to the front of deeping (to the left). As for the NSE 47. Top loco, far too clean haha. Cav Nice shots Neil the outdoors ones make all the difference. I still feel that cannon yard ought to be used as an extension to the front of deeping (to the left). 23. The reason behind it is so that if you buy a brown brick bridge and then decide further along the line you need a red brick one for instance you are then required to purchase the red version also. Otherwise you would only ever buy one version and photophop any other versions you require from that meaning less earnings for John. Cav
  24. That really does look a cracking job mate. Well done. I think the photo board is really coming on. Cav
  25. My word those 47s do look good. haha Will be good with the sound on. The 08 is starting to really look the business. I think every depot layout should have one defo. As for the XR3i I think we should start a 4mm ford owners club haha. I have a black one mint condition and low mileage, needs some wing mirrors though!. No need to make a pin under it mate I never fix mine down. I just place them each exhibition. Cav
