  1. I have just received the first 68 - Poppy and it looks brilliant and runs superbly... But I am having trouble with the lights. In the forwards direction it lights up all three lights plus cab etc. (F0) - but the red tail lights (F10) fail to light. However In reverse only the centre bright light comes on but the other two do not - but with F10 the two reverse lights come on a brilliant red. So something is up. I'd hate to have to return it and go through all that hassle. Does anyone encountered this problem or have a fix. (myself plus removing body shell usually equals disaster) Thanks..
  2. Here is a blown up detail of an EWS branded RNA and a link .. Now if you can help me to locate an Accurascale Dragon Pack 1.:)
  3. Thanks - That would explain much - I have also seen an EWS branded cut down RNA wagon painted maroon on Southern tracks with NSE traction - It looked brand new - so one of its first outings perhaps..
  4. What is also interesting is that instead of the coal sector logo (some of?) these RNA barrier wagons have a Trans-rail logo instead. Does anyone know when and why that change was made?
  5. So I had a go... Originally it was painted black - This thread caused me to take another look. So here is what Grey looks like. It's unfished and needs some refining and transfers. The underbody came pre-weathered so it was left alone. Much has been learned so far!
  6. Thank you for this discussion about the colour of these wagons. I have recently cut down an old HEA wagon and it worked out quite well but had not noticed from the photographs the grey colour of the superstructure (if you can call it that) it is in coal sector grey. here is a photo.. Also when Bachmann produced the CEA wagons they improved the detailing so i have ordered some of these as donors for future attempts..
  7. 3 of the FNA-D arrived today. They will go nicely with the pair from A-scale I already have. The reason i got them is because not only are they truly excellent models in their own right but they open. I have the designs ready to build a few nuclear flasks of the kind that fit these wagons and they can be shown empty or being loaded. It is a pity that those from other brands don't open. It should be a simple matter to put the weights into the flask. In real life they weighed in at around 50 tons of steel. What is now needed is Oxford or someone to make some low loaders with serious muscle that would work with these flasks. There's pictures to be found on Google - ancient and modern of the flask loading/unloading process. (Foden, Scammell, DAF 95 etc..). (As they don't belong to me i can't show them.)
  8. I was being too general in my ignorance, you have my apologies for that.. Here is a picture of the broken coupling for the FNA where you can see the painted white plastic...
  9. The couplings on my FNA wagons were already broken in the bag. They are made from some kind of brittle white styrene and then spray painted to look dark brown or black. So i think the problem with the couplings maybe systemic across the Accurascale range range. So i used Bachmann couplings instead. I did not want to risk something getting stuck in the sockets. If the plastic is bad then its likely the metal for the hooks could be substandard as well... Accurascale do need to look into it.
  10. Can anyone join in? Although the focus was SR - I Like many I had to have an A4 - So when Hornby was selling off a Flying Scotsman Limited edition. (R2888M) at a ridiculous price I bought it... It has a nice certificate signed by Simon Kohler - No 0883 It contains Kingfisher (nice raised nameplates, etched?) 4483 in Blue together with three teak coaches (buffet included) i had to buy the set.. I've only run it once to see if it worked.. This thread has prompted me to excavate it from the collection and give it a whirl.. Thanks everyone for the inspiration! P.S. It probably needs a better home than mine - somewhere where it will be loved!

    New OO gauge Class 73

Hello I need some help. Does anyone know the name of the manufacturer of the sound decoder in the factory fitted Class 73? I recently got hold of what was claimed to be a brand new 73136 Intercity Livery version. 4D-006-020S It came with one of the speaker leads not connected and very little information on the chip CV's I would like to do a factory reset and don't want to fumble around with resetting CV 8 incorrectly.. I would be very glad of any advice. (The sound issue was fixed with a soldering iron )
  12. I have tried locating a thread on this subject on this forum. Typing 'Accurascale Class 66' into the search engine gets anything and everything but Class 66. It is as if the term Class 66 is banned in the search algorithm for some reason? Can anyone help me to locate a thread for forthcoming the Accurascale shed? Thank you..
  13. What is that for a wagon? Does it have a name or designation or special number? What is its purpose? Perhaps radioactive scrap? . It looks interesting like something out from Star Wars... Is that a Crompton doing the honours?
  14. If anyone needs/requires/yearns for the pristine versions of the Accurascale KUAs then Olivia's trains have a shedload of them at the original price..
