  1. Thanks to Jeff and Agnes for a great day. The layout really captures the atmosphere of a busy south London area. So much packed in and despite Jeff's protestations, rakes of suburban trains ran smoothly. Even my Garratt behaved and now can claim to be the only Midland Garratt that has run over Cornish, Welsh and Southern metals. Peter
  2. Jeff, Thats looking really great. I have the Garratt out on my layout at the moment getting ready for the trip "south" (thats Blackburn South). Peter
  3. Hi Jeff, Saw you arriving at Sandown as we (Son and Grandson) were leaving so missed out on a chat. Looking forward to next week Peter
  4. Boris, As a regular viewer from down-under I would really appreciate the lens being cleaned. Also yesterday there were 2 uniformed "officials" who made a trip to the gents and upon leaving, turned and waved to the camera. Any chance of saying "hello" back to them as I bet they didn't know someone from 12,000 miles away was watching Cheers, Peter
  5. Jeff, Its the Hatton's one and it managed very well in Cornwall and North Wales (on Rick's and PCM;s) Peter
  6. Jeff, I was thinking about bringing the Garratt to next months meeting. This will refute those who said a Garratt never made it over the Thames . I am hoping those curves will be OK Peter
  7. Have a look at this 5" Gauge Leader Peter
  8. Certainly interesting watching from OZ last night. The 08 working in the rain Peter
  9. Article in todays Herald Sun (Melbourne) talks of Bunnings pulling out of Britain Peter
  10. Hi Stewart, I have that also but no drawings in the article Peter
  11. Book arrived yesterday and as bike2steam commented, NO Deflector drawings. Oh well, looks like I will have to mix and match the crosti drawing and some photos and bodge them. Peter
  12. Jeff, Looking good. I use an insulated Kadee gauge as it saves messing around and unwanted shorts Peter
  13. I have ordered this book British Rail Standard Locomotives to Scale [4mm] by Ian Beattie as it includes the 9F Crosti's. Locomotives Covered: 'Britannia' Class 4-6-2, 1951 'Clan' Class 4-6-2, 1951 Class 5 (4-6-0), 1951 Class 4 (4-6-0), 1951 Class 4 (2-6-0), 1952 Class 3 (2-6-2T) 1952 Class 2 (2-6-0), 1952 Class 2 (2-6-2T), 1953 Class 3 (2-6-0), 1954 Class 8 (4-6-2), 1954 Class 9 (2-10-0), 1954 Franco-Crosti Boilered Class 9 (2-10-0), 1955 so here's hoping some deflector drawings Peter
  14. Gordon, 2 Razor cuts modified it easily. I tested it without adding the the 2 rollers back on and there was no noticable difference in performance so I have left them off. I added extensions to the side railings and it looks 100% better Thanks for the tip Cheers Peter
  15. Jeff, go with LED's. Last longer and depending whats in your odds/sods box will look better Peter
  16. Gordon, Many thanks. Nice and easy so I will tackle it tomorrow morning. Peter
  17. Gordon, I would be very interested in more pictures, etc as to how you modified the decks to look more Britsh Cheers Peter
  18. Hi Peter, Both the 33 and 47 sound OK now. I have installed the semaphore for the station down road and removed the colour light signal. The semaphore is interlocked with the down loop and operates and looks much better. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Peter
  19. Hi Steve, Glasses arrived today. Wow, certainly different and really very impressive! Thanks Peter
  20. Well, I must have asked the hardest question on RMweb, as not one reply but 93 views. I sent various emails out and the only one reply was from the NRM and they have replied the following: We don’t appear to have a drawing specifically of the smoke deflectors but they are shown on the Smokebox Arrangement (ref. SL/BR/917) This drawing is on microfiche and is in 2 parts due to the size of the original. So it looks like I might have to order it so I can scale it down to 4mm/ft Peter
  21. Decoders arrived at 11 am by courier and both checked OK. Considering the time, postage costs (refund on the way), I am very happy with Hornby's response to my faulty decoders Peter
  22. I am looking for 2 x Crosti smoke deflectors for my locos. They can be plastic, brass/nickel-silver or whitemetal/ pewter. Failing that scale 4mm/ft drawings so that I can have a go at making them. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Peter
  23. Chips should be here on Monday and received an email asking did I want a sterling cheque or a gift voucher for the cost of sending the chips to UK. I asked if they could pay direct to my UK Barclays account but apparently they can't do that so I asked for a cheque to be sent to me. The trouble with taking a gift card is that anything I buy direct from Hornby incurs a GBP25 charge to send it to OZ. Peter
