  1. Hi, I have an early Bachmann Class 46 that I would like to convert to a Class 44. Does any one produce nose shells to enable this conversion in either whitemetal, plastic or even 3D printing? Thanks Peter
  2. I agree, Rich. The only real downer I have with the TTS chips is not being able to re-allocate the F keys. I guess I am spoilt having a few Loksound V4 chips Peter
  3. I sent them off to sunny Kent on Monday with international tracking and they landed and were cleared by customs on Wednesday and delivered on Thursday (yesterday in Aussie time)so it will be interesting to see Hornby's turn around time and delivery back down to Hastings Peter
  4. I recently bought a Class 31 TTS decoder from that well known firm out Widness way. To my dismay it worked for a while then seemed to die although I could program it. So I sent it back and received a new one plus refund of my airmail postage. However for the last week I have had problems keeping my sanity as the new decoder seemed to change polarity everytime I used it. I finally sent an email to Hornby and this is the reply that came back. "Hello Mr Beckett, Thank you for your email, we do indeed do have a fix in place for the Class 31 decoders, however these will have to be returned to us for the software to be rewritten, If you wish to proceed can you please let me know your full postal address and contact number so we can proceed. Yours sincerley Glen Richardson Customer Care T:+44 (0)1843 233525 www.hornbyhobbies.co.uk " Peter
  5. That might explain the problem I am having with 2 x Class 31 TTS decoders ( I use Digitrax) Peter
  6. Hi Peter, Hows the progress on the Class 33 sound? Peter
  7. Paul, I suggest you drop a line to Mat Herman at matthew.herman@esu.eu. He is the guru in the USA and is very helpful Peter
  8. Peter, Looking forward to the Garratt video. Great afternoon and hoping you get your Loksound settings worked out so you can make a return visit to Manchester Road Peter
  9. Peter, Is the decoder a Loksound v4 as we can check it tomorrow when I bring the tester down? I managed to track down some good quality coal so the Garratt should be steaming well for the visit Peter
  10. Norm, Digitrax has a new transponding unit out now. The unit is a BXP88. Might be worth looking at. http://www.digitrax.com/products/transponding/bxp88/ Peter
  11. I received the new Class 37/0 file from Biff and its absolutely brilliant. The engine is crisper and has captured the tractor sound very well. I will be doing a slight fiddle with the F keys but that is so easy with a V4 decoder. Reply to Tankdave, yes if you have the means (I have a Lokprogrammer and software plus JMRI Decoderpro) but you will have to move the high horn as its on F2. Well Done Biff and Charlie Peter
  12. People who can't use home and hone correctly ie I am honing in to this place instead of homing in Peter
  13. Hi Jeff, Looks good. Must be school holidays Peter
  14. Rick, Great videos and even greater night. I had turned on DC for the 3 locos and all ran very well. The Garratt was a bit of a surprise, too. It has a V4 Loksound decoder with the sound from Olivias (slight correction, not Legomanbiffo). I had tested it on a short length of track at home so I knew sound could work on DC but was pleasantly surprised how well when running on a much longer track. I had the sound, short whistle and light turned on for DC and the sound was terrific. At one point just after Penhayle Station and passing the beach I even heard the fireman shovelling call so even the random sounds were working on DC. I wonder how GWR would have reacted to a Midland Garratt working their metals Again, Thanks to Rick Peter
  15. Hi Rick, Great to hear you and Sharron have a place that's not to far from transport. Much better than my last place in Potters Bar. A mile to the nearest bus then half an hour trip to nearest tube, Cockfosters. I am looking forward to Friday night and have just converted the Garratt to run on DC. I even get the sound though not as good as DCC for some reason. Cheers Peter
  16. It is and a very good article. Peter
  17. I second that motion. A very enjoyable afternoon with much traffic on the tracks. Thanks, Rick. Peter
  18. Hi Jeff, Great work! Question: Has some of the varnish splashed onto your keyboard as all the lettering on your latest posts have gone yellow?
  19. Hi Rick, I would love to. Could you PM your address, please? Also are visiting loco's welcome? Mine are all DCC so is that a problem? Cheers Peter
  20. Hi Charlie, Thanks for the update. I was wondering how Bif was getting on with his improved independent brake function? Cheers from Peter in Oz
  21. Rick, I am presuming we are talking about the A414? This ran from Chelmsford across to Hertford (missed Harlow) and finished just north of Hatfield at the A1. Peter
  22. Rick, I used to live on the 414 in Hertford in the early 70,s, 111 Ware Rd, Hertford to be precise. Alas it's no longer the 414 as that now goes up Gallows Hill. Thanks for bringing back happy memories. Peter
  23. Hi Rick, love the buses. I still have nightmares driving along the B158 out of Hertford in 1972 and seeing ahead over the hedges a large green double decker bus heading my way. My Hillman Minx seemed to fly up the left hand side of the bank and how the LC bus missed me is still a mystery! Peter
  24. Hi Rick, I must have missed something. Why the closure? PM if necessary. Peter
  25. I purchased Bif's West Highland Class 37 file to learn more about Full Throttle and he mentioned the EM1 speaker. I had only been casually watching this thread and did not realise it was more than a " World Tour" so will watching more carefully from now on. After experimenting with a ESU GM FT sound file in my 37, I was very impressed with Bif's file. It certainly changes ones driving habits on the layout. I am now awaiting more info on the EM1 speaker (thanks for the size postings) Peter
