Well, what a day!
Thanks to everybody who was involved - exhibitors (some lovely layouts), traders (many good deals), demonstrators and visitors, without any of whom the show wouldn't happen. Also a big thanks to the helpers; whilst I soldier on alone with the organisation and administration for nine months leading up to the show the help received on the day is really appreciated. Special mention must go to Colin Hill for his patience and tolerance in successfully interpreting my drawings and measurements so we can mark out the floor! To Roy and Rachel Harris - stalwarts again on the door; to Steve Scott for his untiring help with all the tasks that nobody else seems to want and to everybody else who helped with the setting up and breaking down.
I must apologise for the lack of refreshments this afternoon. The caterers who had previously served us well at TVNAM were unfortunately not able to do it due to the arrival of their baby so Claire and Shirley (normally on caretaking duties) stepped into the breach. They did their best but unfortunately weren't able to judge the needs of the hungry crowd - we had run out of bacon before the show opened and they had to go out for more!
Judging by the feedback from all sides it was a successful show - thanks once again to all those involved.

I do hope / nay pray, there will be some Sausage Cobs available.
Claire the caterer has told me she will be setting up from 7am so the grill should be hot by the time we open!

Yes I’ll be visiting both exhibitions this coming Saturday
That's the spirit Terry!

I hope the show goes well for you Nick, and all the exhibitors. I wish I could come along. May your layouts run like swiss watches and your teacups never be empty.
Thanks Rob. The teacups shouldn't be empty providing I can persuade Mrs Northpoint to keep the urn topped up!

Worse still than a simple lack of blue, the only Hymeks and Westerns were on the DCC Supplies stall, none on an actual layout.
I'm afraid I have to disagree - Oil Drum Lane was running green diesels yesterday and we had a Hymek, a Warship, a Western and a class 22!

As these are all standard gauge layouts [nothing wrong with that!] if you fancy seeing a fine selection of small narrow gauge layouts the same day, the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association show is in Burton Town Hall about 20 minutes away.
I have been to the 7mm NG show on several occasions although I have no direct interest in NG but I will say it is a very good show. So, as Dava says, no reason why both can't be incorporated on the same day - it's only 30 minutes between the two.
However, if it's a toss up between the two, then come to this (it is my thread after all!)

Looks very nice, Rob - look forward to seeing Sheep Lane in the flesh (fleece?).
Nick
Looking forward to seeing Sheep Lane and all the others. Hope the weather isn't too nice which will mean people don't come...
-
Looking forward to having you Nick.

I have exhibited at the show for a number of years and this year (mine was Neuburg - East German in the bar area) was up to the usual high standard. A thoroughly enjoyable weekend - met lots of interesting people, many fine layouts and as said above, the trade should have satisfied anybody's needs (it did mine!). Also, thanks to the Mickleover club for their hospitality. Well done to Alex, Mike and all those involved. Here's to next year....

Nick the first photograph looks like your layout Ashbourne Midland. Will it be appearing as I don't see it on the list?
David
Yes it is my Ashbourne layout, but, no, it won't be at the show as I have sold it!
All the layouts in the photo are mine, some, like Ashbourne, moved on to new pastures. It's unlikely my layouts will feature as anybody who has tried to manage a show and run a layout will know, it is nigh on impossible!

Ashbourne safely back home in Staffordshire.
A great weekend and a great show. Thoroughly enjoyed it and thanks to everybody involved in the organisation for making it so.

Klienspoor transfer sheet 142 would proberbly be what you want.
http://www.kleinspoor.nl/pagina728.html
You could also see in ROCO do a transfer list as a spare part, as they used to do a 16/17/18 loco where you could Add your own numbers. I have one of these, and I will take a look if this is stil avalible as a spare. (My one of these older Roco 1600’s is sitting around as I have been scratching me held om hoe best to convert iT to DCC). Klienspoor are very good to deal with and the transfers are good quality and reasonably priceed and should not cost the earth to send.
Thnaks for that. I have been in correspondence with Edwin at Kleinspoor, and I agree - he is very helpful.

Many thanks Vincent. 870-40013 from Philotrain is just right.

Thanks for that Rich.
Anybody any ideas on decals?

Thank you everybody for the interest.
The layout is totally fictitious - a "what might have been" that we modellers are so fond of!
If anybody is interested, the layout will be out this Saturday at the Bournville show in Birmingham, 10am - 4.30pm, see here: http://www.bournvillemrc.co.uk/
Hopefully see you there.

The layout is packed in the car and ready for its trip to the Great Central show at Ruddington this weekend.
Hoepfully see you there.

You know, I really wish I could attend, just to help out financially. Not having my own car or dcc fitted loco precludes that possibility though
A lift can always be arranged from a convenient station.

As many of you will already be aware, the annual Freemo gatheirng at Armitage will take place on the weekend of September 9th - 10th.
Much has been discussed on other forums, particularly Facebook but I am aware tha not everybody enjoys Facebook!
So, to update things - I am still responsible for the logisitics (venue, food, etc), but the call for modules is now closed as the configuration is currently being put into the ops programme by Chris Gilbert and it is too late to alter it.
Remember, these events aren't open to the public and it's not a case of just turn up on the day. I need a good idea of attendance numbers well in advance so I can work out the finances.
So, the question is - is there anybody else who hasn't been in touch who wants to come either one or both days? If so, please PM me.

No date for next year yet. A possible change to later in the year then we don't compete with the weather. Also a possible change in the format - not sure yet.
As for clashing with GC - no matter what date you choose there wil always be something else even if it's only Auntie Mary's birthday!
-
Always a good show, sorry the numbers were down Nick but it was very hot so perhaps not a surprise!
My pictures were pretty poor but I've put together some clips into a video..
Excellent video Martin - thanks.
