  1. Congrats to one and all, Tony..... Sun is shining and a clear blue sky. Don't let them up there know...
  2. Morning all. Late on parade as power went off early this morning. Can't recall last time we had a power cut. Sunny and blue skies.....
  3. I do and not just the biscuits.... Morning all. Saw your comment Peter about a few experts, but with all the wedding nonsense, must have missed the cause of your woes. Got a link from the photographer yesterday to some thumbnail shots and the tears flowed again....Big softy that I am. Took the happy couple to Heathrow yesterday and breathed a sigh of relief. Job done and we survived.....
  4. Congrats Phil!....She's beautiful...
  5. Morning all... Back to normal at last. Some wonderful pic's, lads. Can't wait to wander over the old KX footbridge. Years of memories there. Had a truly wonderful day. First sight of my daughter in her wedding dressed reduced this hardened, grumpy old man to tears. The weather God's looked after us as the sun was shining all day. Biggest surprise was the sight of the Red Arrows zooming low over the reception courtyard as guests enjoyed their welcoming drink. Possibly something to do with the Farnborough Air Show being a couple of miles up the road.... Later in the evening, I got talking to a young doctor over my orange juice and found out the AB's they gave me are the ones they give alcoholic's to get them to stop drinking. It makes them violently sick. Maybe there's a message there somewhere. He certainly gave me a wry smile... All in all it went perfectly and I couldn't have wished for more.
  6. Well it's all systems go and what isn't done, won't be.... Thanks for all your best wishes. Over and out!.. B)
  7. Done and dusted yesterday.....Not me I hasten to add. Just met a lovely guy at the church who is doing the flowers. Reminded me of Franck Eggelhoffer.....
  8. Sorry guys, I've another 30 odd hours of deep discussion to go yet..... Table of eight at breakfast so far, three more bridesmaids to come. Manic and noisy.....and that's just Mrs S. Managed to escape for a few minutes. Glad to know real life still exists out there...
  9. Thanks guys. What ain't orgainised now, won't be. Military operations have nothing on this baby.... As you guys can fix everything, any volunteers to sort the weather?...
  10. Morning all....Sitting quietly in the haven of my study. Every bed is full and come 9.00 chaos will return. Loads of young girls from the City and PR. If ever you watch 2012 on BBC2 (the funniest programme on TV right now) you will know the breed. Dinner was deafening. Loads of talking but conversation may as well have been in Chinese for what I understood. Went through the rehearsal last night so now know all my lines. From memory the words are 'I do'. The trick is remembering when I have to say it.....
  11. Oh joy of joy. Picked up an infection, so onto antibiotics, but no alcohol for a week.... Perfect timing with Kate's wedding Sunday..... BiL is falling about laughing of course...
  12. Google says 'Normal for Norfolk'. Having lived in the adjoining county, I can understand that....
  13. Not me, I'm in bed at 10pm.....
  14. I think I'm in love! You sound like just the girl for me, Debs. Just a shame I'm long married.....
  15. I guess I came from an age pre mobile phones and somehow we managed. Four pennies and press button A or if you were from a wealthy family, you might have had a phone at home. Seems we have lost the ability to deal with the slightest problem. Inconvenient it may be, but hardly the end of life as we know it.... Maybe I just got out of bed the wrong side...
  16. Now I know we've lost the plot. BBC national news reporting that O2 are having some issues with their network and some people may not be able to use their phones or send texts..... Hardly the end of the world. My father will be turning in his grave....
  17. Started the day changing four double beds for the hordes soon to arrive. The house will be full of bridesmaids and the bride to be. I'm really going to need a bolt hole as the decibel level racks up.....
  18. Just dug out my Yeadon A4 volume. Apologies if I don't know the correct terminology, but I'm assuming you mean the high fairings that were applied to the tender. There are pics of both the high side and cut down versions. The tenders they listed as having the fairings were 5323-5332 and the work was done in 1936. It then goes on to say the design was modified as high winds had an adverse effect, so these 10 tenders were cut down between Dec '37 and Feb '38. The tenders listed for 60034 were as follows 5639 1/7/38 - 22/4/39 5642 9/6/39 - 24/1/48 5332 25/2/48 - 28/5/54 5325 28/5/54 - 14/1/63 5640 28/1/63 - 28/4/66 5329 24/8/66 - 3/12/66 (scrapped) So on that basis, the cut down tender 5325 would be fine until '63. Edit: Reminder to self. Read the whole thread before answering a question. Apologies Gilbert, it appears you already had this info....
  19. Saints alive, the sun is out and the sky is blue. What on earth is going on....
  20. Can you add a link please Mike? I'm blowed if I can find it..... Perhaps I need new glasses.
  21. Morning all...Apologies for my enforced absence. Up to my eyeballs with the Order of Service etc, etc. I'll be glad when Sunday has been and gone...Bless her. B)
  22. Shouldn't you be starting 'oop north.....
  23. Come on guys, stop keeping it to yourselves, post some pics from yesterday! I was lucky to see Ravensclyffe a few years back at an RMWeb day, but couldn't make yesterday so I'd love to see the progress since then...
  24. Compared to the girls in our lives from time to time, it could be a doddle..........
  25. Just shot over to Twyford to catch 70013 Oliver Cromwell. I guess last time I must have seen this loco would have been on the early 60's at Liverpool Street. Brought back loads of memories. Apologies for the lack of imagination in composition, but I haven't yet acquired the artistry of how to take fast moving express trains and then create a special picture......and I'm not that clever with Photoshop...
