  1. There should be no criticism of PM Chamberlin's policies in this topic. LM is in a truly Conservative constituency. I was interested in the reference to Shipston-on-Stour station and looked up the plan at at https://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrss3104.htm. Very interesting how close it is to Little Muddle.
  2. Kevin Please be sure to consider possible problems with scenery access and of reaching over the layout to re-rail wagons or locos. Using the full space where the control panel was may be a problem with access to the turnouts behind it. I would also consider putting the windmill on the other side of the tracks if possible. It would definitely be a sleeve snagger. Best.
  3. Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel As the images unwind, like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind! last four lines from the song "Windmills of Your Mind"
  4. I bought a new Pixel 6 last month. Still learning to use camera. In simple photos there is a significant improvement in closeup detail and depth of large scene model railway photos over old Galaxy S8. Most of my railway subject photos are of projects on workbench to illustrate discussions, techniques or problems on groups.io groups.
  5. Did the new location require a "privy council" decision?
  6. Stuff that will go for a wartime scrap drive in just a few years....
  7. It's only niche in the UK, but Peco's market vision is really worldwide. This is a big boost to TT:120 modelers in the US and Canada (and maybe Mexico?) Also for very modern modelers in England that model interchanged vehicles coming through the Channel Tunnel, they will be able to use a great variety of EU made model items to the same scale. The size is actually very handy for building larger layouts in the same size we have used for HO and OO layouts. I put this announcement on my local NMRA Division/Region message board and it was greeted with enthusiasm. TT flextrack means no more handlaying needed. Granted it is more "continental" than North American in appearance but that is where the smaller scale covers over the visible differences.
  8. Can the door be opened so it can be posed at the station bus stop? I modified an Oxford OB with open door for my old Padstow layout.
  9. Puuurpppllle Traaaainnnn..... (After the real Prince...of Minneapolis.)
  10. I must say it was rather disappointing in relation to previous Engine Sheds. The evil mavens of marketing are watering down what was meant for the serious hobbyist.
  11. One of the best places to start would be the California State Railway Museum. The Museum owns the real Sierra #3 as part of the Jamestown (California) Railtown 1897 State Historic Park site collection with the shops of the original Sierra Railway (not Railroad) and 10 miles of operating trackage. It is currently listed as in service but only steamed on special occasions. It's not as if the engine is unknown having been used in countless movies and TV shows as far back as 1929. (Think "Back to the Future Part 3 and Petticoat Junction.) In real life is an oil burner not coal or wood as portrayed in movies. There is the very well known (in the US) Mantua later Tyco model from the 1960's which was not quite correct HO scale being more OO scale in proportions. Hundreds of thousands were probably produced and it was for 40 years a toy train set favorite. Toy collector or the US version of eBay should bring you hundreds of listings. Happy hunting and check with the museum who probably has the drawings.
  12. Has this topic cratered🤢
  13. I was just browsing new threads when I noticed the comment separating the van body from the underframe. I would suggest every modeler these days obtain a "spudger" set of tools originally designed for opening mobile phones but highly useful for opening model trains bodies. I've had a set for over 2 years and use it both on the railway and for opening %$^&%$ hard plastic packaging. This is the US Amazon reference, your mileage may vary.... https://www.amazon.com/iFixit-Prying-Opening-Tool-Assortment/dp/B0762BVXDY/ref=asc_df_B0762BVXDY/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416875525560&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17972203711892909601&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032056&hvtargid=pla-443016893748&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=100759324264&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=416875525560&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17972203711892909601&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032056&hvtargid=pla-443016893748
  14. Checked them out...https://www.linkedin.com/company/invisionapp and of course using Amazon cloud data hosting should be much more reliable. From my old days in the software business (Cognos before IBM bought it and before we had cloud hosting) they seem to be a reasonable choice. Performance from this remote location is extremely good even with limited 50 MBPS ATT DSL service (they won't upgrade to fiber in my neighborhood as they are waiting for 5G WIFI/ Home Internet towers to be built and they can market that for more money without the higher capital outlay of laying fiber in older (1975) neighborhoods.)
  15. Back where we belong..... I have missed this topic greatly over the last 10 days. Wit and humor are greatly lacking elsewhere in this tormented world.
  16. Great to have RMWEB back, Andy. Thank you for all the efforts to restore the website. Well just have to get along with the missing images. The MRH forum just doesn't have quite the wit and humor I find here. best
  17. It's currently called Pledge Revive It Floor Gloss on this side of the pond (US branding, not sure about Canada or Mexico.) It is normally used (brushed or sprayed) on the area on a model to be decaled (waterslide transfers applied in UK lingo/not the mother tongue) to provide a smooth glossy surface. Sometimes applied after the decal as well as a sealer. Many of the North American extreme modelers (people who measure the size of the rivet head when they count them to ensure accuracy) consider it a standard part of the model railroad building kit. After a RIFC overcoat the model is then dulled of finished with an ultra matte coat to extinguish any hint of gloss. If it is a freight car, it is then weathered to look like it hasn't been washed since it was built and has endured blizzards of snow, hail, pelting rain, dust storms and blistering UV and other spectrum light at 45 degrees Celsius or higher temperature. I have used Pledge Revive It on my Pergo kitchen floor as well to restore a bit of gloss after 20 years. Works quite well for that too.
  18. Just "Bury me not on the lone prairie"...
  19. Given the reputed speed of transit between Encombe Town and Little Muddle a sleeper coach might well be needed.
  20. Perhaps just a little muddled way...
  21. Perhaps an Autogyro would be more appropriate. Still a contender for the semi vertical takeoff and landing aircraft of choice in the mid 1930's.
  22. Probably neither will make a profit now on new sales of their models of this prototype. I would call it destructive competition. And the North American market has been awash in Big Boy models since everyone tried to crash/cash on the restoration of one for the 2019 150th anniversary of the completion of the US transcontinental railroad. Unless you have an enormous HO model railroad replicating the UP between Laramie and Cheyenne, Wyoming these would be for collectors only.
