That was only one of 26 covers created for the comedy/talk show The Money or the Gun. Each week a different singer or group would do a cover in a different style. Two of my favourites.
However I don't think any are better than the original!

McCartney had originally intended it to be much heavier but George Martin went for the double string quartet arrangement.
My list.
Respect - Aretha Franklin (Otis Redding)
Me and Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin (Roger Miller)
Mr. Tambourine Man and Chimes of Freedom - The Byrds (with the utmost respect to Bob Dylan)
Wuthering Heights - Pat Benatar (with no respect whatsoever to the screeching Kate Bush)
I Love Rock 'n' Roll - Joan Jett (The Arrows)
Blinded by the Light - Manfred Mann's Earth Band (Bruce Springsteen)
Twist and Shout - The Beatles (The Top Notes and The Isley Brothers)
I Fought the Law - The Clash (The Crickets and The Bobby Fuller Four)
Hush - Deep Purple (Billy Joe Royal)

I see your 4MT and raise you:
1) The original Minitrix 9F, a Britannia body on a Continental 2-10-0 chassis; and
2) The original Mehano SD45 made in 1969 with just 2 powered axles out of 6.

What about an R class in green, maroon or blue? Or a K class in bright green, blue or Canadian Red? Or an H class in purple? Or a C17 in blue? Or a D17 in blue? NSW seems to be a bit too precious about colours. Cheers David
The official first train on the Redcliffe line which was opened today. As well as all the politicians and other officials, most of the passengers were locals who went into a ballot to get a ride on the first train. There were free shuttles for the rest of the day. The big test will be the morning peak tomorrow.
And a timelapse cab view.

The shade of green used by NSWGR was highly variable anyway. The "correct" historical shade of green was "whatever Eveleigh mixed at the time".

Cheaper than a smart phone would be something like this running off a Raspberry Pi.

So what would be the problem with, say, reducing them to 10-11 coach sets (not half sets) and replacing the pantographs? Slightly shorter than the NoL sets and with a single bar-buffet in the set.

One power car is already in NRM. There was talk some years ago that one each would eventually go to Cité du Train in Mulhouse and Train World in Brussels. Has there been any more talk of this?
