  1. The DJH kit looks very good, will have to look again after NYC. It's either that or the Comet chassis kit for a 48xx, or a wills finecast Metro! Short shopping list!
  2. In answer to your question from earlier about the Royal Duchy. This taken from the summer of 1963: So after Newton Abbot, the first stop was Plymouth, from where it was (almost) all stations to Penzance. Lovely to see 1368 - was this your first kit built locos? Looks very nice.
  3. Where to start eh! These are terrific and very inspirational. With the whole view of Brent now being seen, you have a lovely model railway. Obviously, the 'photos of the Royal Duchy are an immediate hit.... But so is Tintagel speeding through. But your little cameos with different characters really do work well. Thanks as ever for sharing.
  4. Stretch the date a bit and he could be: The Dartmoor historian William Crossing (1847–1928) lived in the village from 1872 onwards.
  5. Lovely layout and 'photos of the 48xx and Autocoach. PLUS!!! - The Railmotor is great!
  6. Ok so who is now going into production / commission a 00 GWR working slip coach??????
  7. Sadly, I don't have Brent... But in 1947 a single Newton Abbot to Paddington was ..... 56/- that is £2.80 (I think!!) ... According to Google 56/- would equal £391 in today's money..... FGW charge £121 Sorry slightly off topic, I've been scanning the 1947 Timetable! Btw - Can we just check the timing for that branch-line working, I assume the 4:15pm ex-Kingsbridge is running late.... it was due at Brent at 4:50pm, yet I see it was caught / edited at 5:27pm - Just checking !! :-)
  8. Lovely Robin. Is 3864 hauling the Bachmann Cattle vans as described further up? What Dia. is 3796 hauling? Lovely 'photos, very atmospheric. Did we miss the 7:48pm Hall NA to PLY? :-)
  9. I was guessing - Sorry I know nothing about LMS workings - other than their locos were Black.... or Red! It's only a Public timetable.... I wonder if Mike has a WTT ?
  10. Strangely YES! I do !!!! The summer timetable in 1947 ran from June 16th through to October 5th (Not as good a copy as the 1935 one! Sadly though the 15:30 service from paddington does not run this year, instead there is a 16:30 service to Plymouth, Fridays only ..... but of course in those days there was only the 12 hour clock - I wonder when we went 24hr? I Digress..... The 7:15 service from Newton Abbott is running - all stations to Plymouth .... departing Brent at 7:48
  11. I was going to ask for a Great Western Hall on the 7pm departure from Brent to Plymouth, but as it's a Manchester train, I guess it is being hauled tonight by a Black 5 or something similar..... (1935 Summer timetable....) In which case, could you photograph the 3:30pm ex-Paddingtomn when it thunders through around 19:41 en-route to Penzance..... I see the next stopping service departs at 20:11 possibly with a Hall, ex-Newton Abbott, bound for Plymouth ! How about that little lot for a Challenge! (Ignoring the fact the Summer timetable did not start until July 8th )
  12. Thanks Mike, that will shortly be winging it's way to Hove! Selection of Toads here: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/gwrbrakevan Regards
  13. Augustus looks a bit of a thug, let's hope we don't run into him at the Railway Tavern! Lovely scene Robin, looking forward to seeing more of the same.
  14. Tintagel Castle £92.90 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R2848-CASTLE-CLASS-TINTAGEL-CASTLE-New-in-Box-/170997335087?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item27d03c442f (No connection, just a Google search!)
  15. Must be the Good Friday market then! Great shots Robin, although not sure about the old dears having a gossip on the seat!
  16. Looking through my books last night, I found no evidence of handed composites. Admittedly, there were so many different diagrams and changes, but to add in replacement panels, I doubt we would be able to get an R-T-R to manage that! Yes! - But by that stage they had started to evolve with different panels etc. as above. Therefore, in my opinion, it will cloud any manufacturers view about the possible models. On that basis all BR livery versions were excluded from the Poll. Obviously my interest is 1930's ...... Corridor side I think.
  17. Sorry! I meant that manufacturers have traditionaly only made one van, rather than a Right and a Left. The question then becomes, 1. do you want a Left AND a Right. OR 2. One handed brake is fine, not fussed if L or R I have clarified the question, hoping me meaning becomes clearer. ***If you would like to change your votes, just take the option to delete, then vote again****
  18. Hi Mike - Are the 48ft non corridor available as kits? Thanks.
  19. The Great Western built many Brake 3rds / Brake compos "handed" so the corridor always remained on the same side of the train! So you would have (say) a left hand van at the front (van outermost) with a right hand van at the rear. This practice continued through to the late 30's / early 40's. Not being dim at all ! - As far as I know, they were the only railway to do it.
  20. I have added brake compo and double slips. I would love to be able to have the time to make up a load of kits, but I already seem to have loads of unfinished projects ! Thanks for the comments
