  1. The Railroad TTS sound class 47 I have has the standard Limby motor bogie, as fitted to the ex-Lima 31, with a can motor mounted within one bogie driving two axles. This is similar to all the ex-Lima locos so I would assume this new release is the same. None of the Hornby released ex-Lima models have had pancake motors. This is the type: https://www.petersspares.com/Hornby-x9769-class-47-drive-unit-complete.ir
  2. That would have been Modern Image when it was made
  3. I don't know if this is of help, it's a partly assembled Slaters LMS brake. The are a couple of rocker arms within the wheels which work the brake yokes when pulled by the brake rods:
  4. Even the latest Roco and Piko all wheel drive diesel locos have a couple of wheels with traction tyres.
  5. You should be OK, not sure why but it was only the HH feedbacks that were affected. Of course, it was a long time ago and they may have modified the transformer by now anyway. If Gaugemaster say its alright you shouldn't have a problem, the T1 does have two separate windings.
  6. Silver Fox is currently advertising a 4Cor conversion kit on Ebay with resin ends. May be possible to get the ends only.
  7. It's not 'cab control' that causes the problem running two controllers off one transformer, it's using a common return. If you break both rails at each section break and use double pole switches, one transformer will suffice. Regarding the Gaugemaster T1, many years ago I had problems using two HH type feedback controllers off one. There was some sort of interaction going on when both controllers were powered up, the model shop I bought them from contacted Gaugemaster and they changed their advice that two HH could be run off one T1 and said to use separate transformers. It only affected the feedback type and not the non-feedback like the W.

They have done them in maroon, R4649 is the Gresley lavatory composite and the others all have R46xx numbers. I think Hornby may have called them crimson but they are much darker than the R45xx crimson releases.
  9. The rebuilds didn't have top flaps but neither did the earliest builds. MOT dia 102 and LMS dia D 2109 were welded designs without top flaps. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brmowtmineral/e4ed976a https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brmowtmineral/e3a57bb22
  10. It's a welded mineral with bottom doors, no top flaps, double sided brakes and a pressed end door. As such it's suitable for quite a few early steel mineral wagon diagrams. As an alternative the Parkside fabricated end door can be substituted for variety.
  11. I received my sound fitted Provincial livery model this week, very impressive but the front lights just look wrong. As a quick fix, accepting that the small marker lights are missing, I've managed to wade through the Loksound manual and fathomed out how the function mapping works so I could disable the inner headlights but leave the outer one on. In the end it was an easy change, I did each car separately as follows: Set CV32 to 8 (this is important as it indexes CV321, other values of CV32 will give different values of CV321) Change CV321 from 5 to 4 This will light the outer right white light at the front and both inners red at the rear on F0.
  12. Scograil have some: https://www.scograil.co.uk/electrotren-373-c.asp
  13. A lot of de-piped brake vans appear to have had some grey daubed on them, not sure why because, as you say, the distinction was becoming rather blurred by then. However, ISTR that some of the unfitted wagons which were built in Freight Brown were overpainted grey as well.
  14. I suspect that the van was originally piped and hence brown but on removal of the vacuum equipment it was partially repainted grey to indicate is changed status. A lot of brake van's were de-piped once fully fitted trains no longer routinely required one.
  15. I don't kow if you've come across this site: https://www.tosh-railways.com/Wagons May be a bit modern for what you are looking for but this one looks rather similar to your first photo: https://www.tosh-railways.com/Wagons/80-db-germany/100-199/100-199/i-JkgX5sN/A
  16. The SC wasn't sold in the UK until 2001. The previous version wasn't sold officially here but was in the US. It was the Soarer in Japan and a number were imported, some were re-badged as Lexus unofficially. There were no Lexus badged cars anywhere before the original LS in about 1990.
  17. Possibly not if it is a hybrid. I believe Kia use a dual clutch gearbox on their hybrids rather than a power split device so at higher speeds it is virtually a straight petrol car. Edit: Just looked and the Toyota Prius also has better urban mpg than extra urban.
  18. If you are looking for one that lasted until the 1980s, how about Norwich Victoria. http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/n/norwich_victoria/index.shtml Closed to passengers in 1916, closed to goods in 1986.
  19. Could it be that it means that the parts that need the most maintenance and adjustment are all on one side of the wagon?
  20. There were seven LNER BGs built on secondhand underframes which had similar trussing: https://www.steve-banks.org/prototype-and-traffic/289-lner-npcs-56-6-bg-d-44 It says the underframes came from ECJS sleeping cars so possibly those shown in Jamiel's post.
  21. Yes, the 20 could have been 1984 as I worked in South Wales from early 83 to the end of 85.
  22. I bought my first 117 in late 1981 when they had just been released and I'm fairly sure the 20 arrived in the shops in 1985 as I bought my first one at the STAR swapmeet in Cardiff when I was working in South Wales.
  23. Hi Ian As we discussed last night, there are a couple of suitable locos in Steve Jordan's 'The Liveries of the B.R. Standard Diesel Electric Shunters in Colour'. For D3509, D3511 is a match. Also, D3665 is a match for D3721 although both still have ladders in the photos.
  24. Looks like standard blue/grey with some sort of reflection on the blue to me. Does look deceptive though.
  25. That is the full set, you can buy the loco and coaches separately. The Piko Taurus is cheaper, about £125, and the coaches, being in their Hobby range can be bought for about £30 each. https://www.scograil.co.uk/piko-59914-ho-gauge-obb-railjet-rh1216-taurus-electric-locomotive-12621-p.asp
