  1. Seeing as EddieB has mentioned the rack railway from Štrba to Štrbské Pleso, here is a photo of one of the rack EMUs.
  2. Triang kept their liveries up to date as well. In the late 60s anything appropriate was released in Rail Blue. It was only after the end of steam on BR that they started to produce steam locos in pre-nationalisation liveries.
  3. Was 25003 the only one to keep it's gangway doors along with original headcode boxes, they're noted as still present in 1974?
  4. This is the other end of the TEZ at Štrbské Pleso, a winter sports resort. There is also a branch to Tatranská Lomnica.
  5. The large structure above Poprad Tatry station is the terminus of the Tatranská elektrická železnica (Tatra Electric Railway), a metre gauge line that runs up into the Tatra Mountains to Štrbské Pleso. This operated using Stadler GTW units.
  6. A bit further back, a 183 at Spišská Nová Ves in 2008. I think it is the same type as the 1973 photo. Still used for banking heavy trains through the mountains. These are the beasties that haul the trains that the 183s bank
  7. Still some older locos about.
  8. Seeing as everyone seems to be posting prototype photos, here is a Czech Pendolino at Poprad Tatry, Slovakia, on its way from Košice to Prague on 1st August last year.
  9. Plenty of photos of Essex buses pre 1970 on this site: http://www.sct61.org.uk/ There is an Eastern National section plus you can search for the operators mentioned previously.
  10. On mine you push the pin in the hole and that releases a little drawer that holds the card. Make sure its the right hole, the one in the drawer not the one next to it.
  11. I would suggest it should cover Czech and Slovak Railways plus Czechoslovakian before separation.
  12. There are photos of both sides of no. 713 to D1947 when new in J & E's LMS Coaches An Illustrated History and it clearly has Mansell wheels.
  13. Here are photos of a couple of the Kenyan Mk2s: I travelled on them from Nairobi to Mombasa and back in 1997. A lot of the internal fittings looked familiar. ISTR that the builders plate said BREL Metro. Second class had 4 berth compartments and first class were 2 berth. There was also a Mk2 style restaurant car and third class day coaches of a different manufacture.
  14. The Roco coupler is basically the same as the Hornby one but a few mm shorter. They will couple together so the difference in length allows a bit of variation if the NEM pockets aren't in exactly the right position, as in the case of the Bachmann Mk1s.
  15. The green Country ones were long RMLs though, the only green short RMs were the twin headlight RMCs.
  16. These palvans were used: https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brfordpalvan
  17. All the Dapol locos so far are from the second batch (6110 up) so had the revised grills from new. I don't think they have shown any intention of producing original condition pilot scheme locos yet.
  18. Photo of 24136 withdrawn in green here: https://www.derbysulzers.com/24136.html
  19. The East Midlands set in the video appears to have the modern lighting set up without side marker lights. Does anyone know if the Regional Railways set has the correct early lighting arrangement?
  20. I found that if you set the address of both cars together they end up going in opposite directions, so I reset the decoders and programmed them individually which solved the problem. Is DaveClass47's problem the apparent mismatch between the ECoS and LokSound V5 I've seen on other threads?
  21. Slightly less than the Realtrack 156 with sound but that does have two sound chips.
  22. The Hornby 110 is more from the Lima 117 era and is flush glazed unlike the Lima. Not a bad model for its time. Can make a good 104 as well:
  23. Do they? Or do they just rely on the fact that it is not worth taking it to court.
  24. How exact is the timing? 1mph is about 450mm per second difference. Still open to errors if not calibrated.
  25. I can believe that police speed measuring equipment such as hand held and vehicle mounted devices are regularly checked and maintained but what about those fixed to overhead gantries? How often are they checked and calibrated when there are miles of them on some motorways. And they are still accurate to 1mph after several years of use?
