Nobby, If your referring to the village in Lincolnshire, then I've only just realised myself that there is a said village
A lot of people at exhibitions ask why Sutton St. Annes. Well the answer is simple. Take my last name, chuck in St. Annes at the end (where the layout is loosely based - Lytham St. Annes) and hey presto... Well, I thought it worked anyway
P.S. The missing T from Sutton has now been corrected.
Cheers
Anthony
Not at all Anthony, i was taking the "P" that you had left out a T in the name and it sounded more upmarket.............

Well Ian it was a case of Swadlincote or no show being presented.
There was a frequent bus service to Swadlincote on Saturday and our own bus added to this on Sunday, with a bus stop right outside the door of the venue.
its your choice not to come, but many people did arrive by train/bus with no problem at all.
People i know came from the West Country and the North West by train with no problems
There's a good chance that we will be at the the venue next year as despite the change of venue, our numbers through the door held up very well with the busiest Sunday i have seen at a DEMU Showcase.

If the venue was suitable but parking the main hindrance it might be worth considering a park and ride option ? If a decent free car park is not too far away how about extending the free bus service from the station ? Pick up from station, drop off at venue, nip up to park and ride to pick up and drop back at venue then return to station ? This would help those who aren't too mobile and would struggle with the five minute walk etc.
Just a thought.
Full marks to the guys for forging ahead inspite of the difficulties rather than just cancelling
We supplied a Free Vinage bus service today to supplement the normal bus service as this was every hour following posts that there was not a train station in Swadlincote and that th normal bus wouldkake 35 minutes.
The bus was timed to coincide with the arrival of trains to Burton Station.
First journey carried two pssengers
Senond journey carried 3 passengers
Third journey carried ONE passenger.
I will not bother to list the rest but you get the picture.........................................
There is an abundance of free parking on or within 300 yds of the venue something that was not available for quite a few years at Burton Town Hall.

Wow some interesting comments on this one!
Let’s face it the town hall venue needed changing many years ago and we all know the reasons why!
Well done to the organisers for finding an alternative venue, the show anywhere is better than nowhere.
Hi Daz, there is always those who don’t like change, think it is easy to organise an exhibition (especially when your venue changes at short notice ) but fear not.
I’m expecting these experts to come to the AGM on Saturday after the show and put themselves forward to take over the reigns and and show, Guy, Tom, George and I how it should be done.
See you all in a couple of weeks for our 25th anniversary show.

Hello
Fenchurch St Peter will be appearing at the Stowmarket exhibition next Sunday April 28th. Sadly I shall not be there due to my recent bout of illness and decrepitude though I will be there in spirit. The layout will be in the capable hands of John Norton and Richard Coleman and possibly A N Other.
Cheers
George
A N other will be Simon George as i understand it folowing a chat with Cobbler ( Richard C )

I am pleased to announce that we will have a vintage Routemaster running from Burton station to Greenbank Leisure Centre on the Sunday (when there is a reduced public service).
The special service will be more or less hourly, but please check the timetable on the Showcase website for further details as the timings are designed to coincide with the show opening times.
Guy
Is it an AEC engined Routemaster, if not im not coming as its the wrong sound, its too far for me, the sun is not shining, it maybe raining, its not going to snow, i cant find Greenbank on a map, i dont have a passport to enter Derbyshire, cant walk more than 200 yds from a car park, the catering will be crap,
As has been said, this is the best place we could find at short notice, if we didnt use this venue there would have been no Showcase this year, im more than happy to meet all the moaners at the AGM on Saturday night where im sure Guy, George, Tom and i woud be very very happy to hand over the reigns of organising this show to all the experts out there, because it it so easy...............................................................
