Hello
Very good show, our first time there. Very friendly and we were well looked after all weekend. Oh and by the way 'Towcester' won the Conway Cup for best in show. What more can you ask for.
Cheers
George
Ditto, we celebrated our first ever award with a few beers on Saturday night

Hello
News to me Mark that DT has given me any speakers. I have four huge ones in my sitting room though and smalller though still good ones in the dining room and the railway room. I suspect there won't be any on the road to Kendal as the hire van is a bit old and the radio barely functions. I'm sure John will whistle a happy tune to keep me happy. See you in Glasgow.
Cheers
George

Moan moan moan moan
I don’t know George takes you all out on a nice day out to see some inspiring layouts and you can do is moan about his tastes in music.
With Richard being clever he no doubt had ear plugs.
Not that clever, however we passed the time by texting each other even if he was sitting behind me. It was the only way we could communicate over the noise, sorry of course i mean tasteful music.......

I bet our mate George has an interesting and educational taste in music, all be it from a time I am too young to know about.
Interesting............................no. Educational..................................no, Have Richard and i got earache....................................Yes

Hello
It was nice to go to Canterbury yesterday and see so many old friends and some very fine layouts and of course to bid farewell to TWY on this farewell performance, (at least for now). There did seem to be more operators than there were trains on the layout which is saying something. We had a nice, safe journey home, in my case to a cold house with no heat or hot water. wonderful. All the best for the team today. See you at Kendal.
Cheers
George
George had a good journey home, Richard and i had to endure 3 hours of shite music made worse by George turning the volume up when some obscure unknown hillybillly started singing some song ( i use those words loosely ) he liked.........

Very good to see George and his support crew today venture South of the Watford services.
George has let slip the next Masterpiece that will be on the way soon, I'm sure Nobby will have a Trade show to go to on its debut though!!
Bet he wont, already to go for the great unveiling of the next project in Glasgow

Let’s keep this going to see if we can get 1 million posts, of which 999,000 are worthless uninteresting chats.......

Hello
Thank-you for your kind comments Clive, glad you enjoyed it. Yes I thought the Modeller was good this month but then I would say that wouldn't I.
Cheers
George
I thought it was a good article too............

I do like the concept I have often wondered about the S and D in a similar vein. How about the East Somerset being connected at Sheppton Mallet with stone trains going both north and south. Passenger services in the hands of 33/1 and 4TC. One day.......
Keith
No reason why not Keith, go for it.

He looks after its storage
Hello George
Just looking at the article. Very good article and the pics are good too.
Like the picture of you. Who’s the other guy in the pic did he have something to do with the layout.
Ok we’re back to IPs
Thanks Steve. -
Looking like a good show, I’ll try to attend commitments permitting

Oak Road will now be known as the Meningitis Now layout!
Having contracted meningococcal meningitis 32 years ago aged 20, and survived, this subject is very close to home, and seeing as 43041 is named Meningitis Trust, I sent the charity an email asking if I could use the layout to raise money....to be honest I wasn't expecting them to say yes! They're sending down some fundraising material and will be featuring Oak Road on their website, so every show that I attend from now on will raise money to help meningitis research. Tim Horn has kindly offered to make a full size replica Meningitis Trust - Support for Life nameplate which will accompany the layout on its travels, and you'll find us wearing some nice bright orange T Shirts to get us more attention.
I also saw Steve Flint at Warley last weekend and he's coming to take some pictures of Oak Road in March so that it can be featured in Railway Modeller before the Swansea show - my royalty fee will be donated to the charity.
If you see us out on the road, we'll be collecting money so please donate, even if you can only afford 10 pence, it'll be gratefully received.
We will now have a subject to talk about next year at Showcase, as like you i contracted meningococcal meningitis in 1985 and survived, was not a pleasant 2 weeks i spent in isolation in hospital. A room by myself with a large red diagonal cross on the door as everyone without exception had to mask up to visit.

Yes, they are a totally different wagon. Here is a side-by-side shot for comparison (the eagle-eyed might recognise the location):
Yes i recognise it, it is your layout

Watching this series was like having teeth pulled without an anaesthetic.
It might have been better as "Slow TV", following the routes, with Steadycam and drone footage, and occasional in picture captions to explain or highlight points of interest.
Anything but Babbling Bell!
I think we all got the message from page 1 of this thread and your subsequent posts that you dont like the series, you dont have to keep reminding us what your opinon is.
-
Didn't watch it looked to be a very interesting topic, but the choice of presenter turned me off.
Bloody clever if you did watch it, it’s not on until Sunday night
-
Yep, it’s Rod Stewart .........

Do they, would you like to explain in more detail?
