  1. Shame about those opening windows. I was hoping they'd be a failure, but it looks like I'll have to have a go at making some opening ones using my Silhouette cutter, when I get that far!
  2. According to the 25 inch OS map, one signal was right next to the level crossing, rather than where you've drawn it, but otherwise pretty much agrees. http://maps.nls.uk/view/103680509
  3. To avoid the dangers of the technology going wrong on public roads, they could build dedicated roads for running them at high density. Or to keep the technology simpler, cheaper and more reliable, they could lay a pair of parallel rails instead of a road. Oh, hang on, didn't the Victorians start doing that? I think they were called railways .
  4. The layout I started in mine was 28.08mm gauge, so not far short of 32mm, but 4mm scale!
  5. I've got a program to remove KB3035583 on my Desktop, so I can easily double-click on it if it ever rears it's ugly head anywhere near my computer. Plus a shortcut to the Windows Download folder, so I can check for, and delete, sneaky downloads. Windows 10 is not invading my life!
  6. What's KB2952664? I didn't know about that one. I've just been watching out for KB3035583.
  7. The answer to the string question is 3 inches, so not a lot of help!
  8. As this is a topic about old cars, does that mean anything goes, as long as it's not just out of the showroom then? I was trying to get the answer to the question that Edcayton asked!
  9. That makes all three of my bikes classics then, although they have pedals rather than engines so probably aren't relevant here!!!
  10. I don't know if Microsoft are being sneaky, but I've got Windows 7 set to check for updates but not download, except that I've just spotted that it had changed to install automatically, and it was ready to install the dreaded KB3035583 when I shut down. Hopefully I've stopped it. It may be that I clicked on something by mistake, but if you're trying to avoid Windows 10 it might be worth checking your settings.
  11. Surely cars become old before they become classics, so when do they become old?
  12. Suitable for the early 1900s. I wonder how easy it will be to convert to EM. Industrial sidings may be needed on any future EM layouts I plan.
  13. Tower Models are still listing it. Has anyone seen photos of the K&ESR one? Is it the right shade of blue? I'm not sure whether to order a second one to convert to Rolvendon, but it looks like I may have to decide pretty soon.
  14. A new cab and a taller chimney, and it might be quite nice for O-16.5!
  15. My 1993 Escort wasn't much bigger, and my German Shepherd was happy with the front or the back seat!
  16. Is this any help? There are construction details on the previous page if it does. http://ngrm-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/181-a-tramway-layout-in-an-alcove/page-13&do=findComment&comment=307088
  17. But did rental companies use Sport or RS versions? I wouldn't want a boring one!
  18. The XR3 looks nice. I had a silver one and a black one, so red would make a nice change!
  19. I started writing a comment on one of the OO-SF topics about how RMweb members could have very calm and reasonable discussions on transgender issues, but not on OO-SF, but chicken out .
  20. Imported Escorts! Are they as good as they look? http://mscimporters.co.uk/ And Escorts built to order http://www.montescort.com/page6.htm I must stop Googling!
  21. £3,750! Dads 72 one was only £1,000 new. Shame he abandoned it on the drive for several years, and it went for scrap! http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C662200#
  22. Very easy to do, as they seem to have spent their lives in sidings, and not attached to trains! It helps with small layouts though, as you can add an extra wagon to trains instead. For the early days you also need the guard hopping from one coach to the next while the train is in motion, probably desperately trying to avoid losing his grip and slipping off the footboards, while checking tickets!
  23. If it's a tramway, does it need any rules at all? According to the book on the Glyn Valley Tramway I read recently, it was perfectly acceptable to run more than one train on the line at the same time, as long as the drivers knew there was another train about, and they watched out for it!
  24. I'm just set in my ways (or at least some of them!). I'm not really sure there's any point in using cork underlay, but I do! I've had to lift a bit of track on another project that I haven't let lose on the world yet (as it's one that will come after Cheapside Yard), and that came up fairly easily. Maybe when I get to work on the next bit of O gauge (that Peter may recognise in the background), I'll be adventurous and try Copydex.
