  1. Signal Box (as was) and Kernow have both seen money to be made from N Gauge limited editions, although in both cases they were re-liveries of existing models rather than something completely new. Surely it's not too much to ask one of the country's biggest model shops to consider something in the second most popular scale? Something local to Liverpool would be nice: Trans-Pennine class 47 Petroleum sector class 47 Mersey Rail class 142, class 150 of 73 86214 or 86235 in Liverpool-Manchester 150 branding Happy modelling. Steven B.
  2. I'm surprised they had to go all the way to Carlisle. Was there no capacity in the workshops looking after the steel and coal wagons in South Wales? Steven B.
  3. Unless the factory sound fitted models just use a 18 pin decoder, in which case all you need is a blanking plug and someone willing to buy the sound decoder from you (send me a PM!). Most DCC decoders will work happily on DC as long as you don't have a feedback controller or use a Relco type track cleaner. Steven B.
  4. Don't forget the former FTG Models SPA plate wagon, now available from Kernow: http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/c/1182/DJ-Models Steven B.
  5. I don't know of Inkpen (Google just returns lots of pictures of pens with ink in them!). I believe PG Models master and cast (in Pewter) all their own models (in 1:152 scale). They're really nicely done and cover a good range of post 1970s British army vehicles. Steven B.
  6. A PG Models Leyland DAF DROPS wagon: Sticking with the vehicle theme, does anyone have a vehicle on their layout with caterpillar tracks? (e.g. bulldozer, tractor, tank etc). Steven B.
  7. Lack of volunteer time to manage the project and a limited number of models that have a long enough life span to appeal to a wide range of members? Steven B
  8. Hereford signal box, (station opened in 1853, still in use so matching all three of the last requests!). Next, something built overseas.
  9. Farish have also re-done the SR bogie brake and the LMS Inspection saloon (both NGS projects initially). I believe this is because Farish retain the rights to the tooling and only promise not to re-use it for a period of 3-4 years after the initial commissioned/limited edition release. Dapol (did?) work slightly differently. Any custom model (such as the NGS Stove R) remained under the ownership of who ever commissioned it. I suspect that's not the case with re-liveries of existing/standard models. Steven B.
  10. It's worth getting in touch with them asking if they have what you want. There are many railway related documents held at the National Archive and also within the current operating companies. Steven B.
  11. Cargo-D charter train rounds the bend on Heworth Sidings. (Repainted Dapol Mk3 DVT) Can we have a picture of a tramway next?
  12. To add to the comments above, it's basically a stretched BR (ex LNER design) Fish Van. The Dapol Fish van is what it should look like (the fish van never carried Railfreight red/grey livery). Steven B.
  13. Not my model, but my photo of Loch, a 2mm Finescale model of the Manx Railway loco displayed in the museum at Port Erin. Inspired by newbryford's post, has anyone got a before and after pictures of a model?
  14. The American take on Sherlock Holmes with Joan Watson as the main supporting character works well, so a female Doctor should give us some interesting new story lines. I wonder if we'll see we'll see John Marple moving into St. Mary Mead? Harold Wainthropp Investigates? Mmm, perhaps not. Steven B.
  15. Yes, it's possible. There are two ways, which you choose depends on how the prototype did it: Banker coupled onto train: Stop main train, drive banking loco to rear of train and couple up. Consist the train and banker locos so they can be controlled as one. Drive the two locos up the hill, stop. Break the consist, run the train on to it's destination, run the banker up to the cross over allowing it to pass back down hill to wait for the next banking job. Banker pushing but not coupled: Stop main train, drive banking loco to rear. You can now either consist the train and banker and run as before (relying on the speeds of both locos being closely matched), or assign each loco it's own controller. If you run with two controllers then you can control the speeds of the two locos as the prototype drivers would. As the train reaches the summit you can back off the speed of the banking engine and have it drop back of the end of the train. Steven B.
  16. Chinley is in Derbyshire - your picture is taken near Manchester Piccadilly. Several NSE class 101s moved north following the introduction of the class 165 DMUs. Some other examples: Blackpool North http://www.martynhilbert.railpic.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=2814 Salford: http://www.hondawanderer.com/L841_Agecroft_1994.htm Manchester Longsite depot (Sandite conversion): http://railcar.co.uk/images/7707 There are photos here http://www.railcar.co.uk/type/class-101/?images=setno that show NSE class 101s in Sheffield & Scotland. 17. 20044 on an Engineers OHLM train in 1984: http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/overheadmaintenance/e3bbf450d Some more from John Dedman's collection: Barrow Hill provided a single class 20 for a coal working to Bolsover Coalite works: https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/14558201202/in/album-72157634616103397/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/14552669051/in/album-72157634616103397/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/14376502759/in/album-72157634616103397/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/8342034388/in/album-72157629665651758/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/14498883184/in/album-72157629665651758/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/7944067740/in/album-72157629665651758/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/8284636412/in/album-72157629665651758/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/8368855150/in/album-72157629665651758/ Steven B.
  18. Look at the photos on this website: http://www.penmorfa.com/Archive/index.htm There are lots of class 31, 37 and 47 hauled trains in North Wales throughout the 1990s. Most show clean stock and loco.
  19. Probably not was expected, but given the lack of photos here's one taken at Legoland Windsor: Can we have something fishy next?
  20. Wasp heads a works train on the Laxey Mine Railway. X?
  21. Sarah Siddons at the NRM Railfest a few years ago: Can we have a "T" please Bob?
  22. What about picking names from the history of the locations you're modelling, either people or locations. For Woolwich you could have: Gun Wharf Road Woolwich Kings Yard/Sidings/Junction Definance Street Steam Factory Lane Mast Quay Steven B.
  23. I'm not sure it serves a city, but at least it's got a terminus station. Bishops Bridge (loosely based on a mix of Portsmouth, Weymouth and Dover) - taken at TINGS in 2011. Let's go to the other end of the station spectrum; Has anyone a model of a small line-side halt?
  24. I couldn't find a link to these wagons via the "Projects" menu on the Revolution Trains' website. Does a dedicated page not exist for these wagons yet or did I just miss it? Steven B.
  25. you can see the finished model about half-way down this blog post. Has anyone modelled/copied a scene from a photo? Bonus points if you include the original prototype image (or a link if on-line).
